My mother is in Balboa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The care has been excellent. They need more staff, but they're doing what they can do. The place has been amazing, and she has been on and off in there, and they're wonderful. I'm pleasantly surprised with the food. Her room is very clean. They have activities, but she's not interested in them. I have no problems with this place. They provide physical and occupational therapy. I've only been in the therapy room a couple of times, but it seems very equipped and clean. The therapists are very polite and they keep me very much informed. She always has fresh linen. She has a TV in her room and a telephone. Food's brought in to her if needed. I've been very pleased. They're like family. They've been amazing.

Balboa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was barely adequate. I would not recommend it. They were very willing, but when my husband's health was deteriorating, they didn't know whether they had given him the medicine that day or not. It was an anti-seizure medicine and it had to be given every day, so I was unhappy with that. It was crowded, it was an old building, and it was understaffed. There weren't enough people to provide the care that he needed. I wouldn't fault any individual person that dealt with him, but the whole operation was just inadequate, especially in giving him his meds, and that has to be done right. He didn't have a chance to have much rehab there, although it was available when his health deteriorated.

My dad was at Balboa Nursing Rehab for twenty days. Everything was great except the food. My dad didn't like the food. But the staff was really caring and nice. They had a lot of great activities and the place was clean.
