My father was a past resident of The Hills of Stillman, a boarding and care home. They were really good, and because it was a boarding and care home, they only had fewer residents. The food was cooked in smaller batches, and it was home-style eating and home-style cooking. The facility was clean, and the people who worked there were great. If we could have both my parents there, we would have done that, but my mother does not need the level of care that my father does, so it was not suitable for both of them to be there. My father liked it, though, it was perfect for him. I think they had about 20 residents there. Some of them were bed-bound, but they had a dining room with tables that would accommodate those that were ambulatory. My father was in a private room but they said that if another resident came and they needed the room, we could opt to pay for a private room or, for a smaller fee, he would share the room. They had common areas, but because it was a boarding and care home, it was a more basic lifestyle. He was not able to participate in activities because it was not that kind of place. A lot of people were doing hospice and needed a higher level of care, so they were not able to do that.
