My mother died within 13 hours of being placed here. I did everything necessary to help Greg (the administrator and an R.N.) and other caretakers to know every aspect of her condition. They had all her records. She was just released from a hospital and needed care when placed at Meadowbrook Home and Greg assured me they could handle it. She was admitted Dec. 29, 2013. I found my mother at 0830 the next day -- propped in front of a t.v., eyes open, slumped over, labored breathing, and unresponsive. I immediately called Greg --the administrator--who told me he had just seen her at 0500 (before breakfast) and she was just fine. I then called paramedics. She was taken to Redlands Community Hospital and died there. I had wanted to avoid this very ending. I was sincerely hoping that my mother, in her evolving stages of approaching death, would find comfort in this last home of care (Meadowbrook Homes) which was close to my house and would include my care and hospice. That did not happen. She died from aspiration pneumonia. My mom's medical records ( given to Meadowbrook Homes) showed a distinct problem with stomach reflux yet her breakfast (immediately before I found her unresponsive) was peaches and chocolate pudding. ??? I found out about this breakfast menu following inquiry from the caregiver. Besides this toxic and perhaps fatal breakfast given to an elderly person with acid reflux problems, there was only one caregiver on staff that day. I had been told by Greg that there were always two daily caregivers.

This home is an Assisted Living Facility non medical which provides total care for seniors. It's a one story home located in a residential community in Redlands California. Meadowbrook is owned and operated by a young couple who have a healthcare background. The administrator Greg is a Registered Nurse. They also have a hospice waiver which means they are able to take hospice patients. I have referred Meadowbrook to people who love the home because of the beautiful backyard, country atmosphere, and compassionate staff. This home is clean and provides home cooked meals. When I visit this home it's not unusual to see one of the owners present and caring for the residents. The grandmother of one of the owners also lives at Meadowbrook.
