Emerald City has three storiess. The building has cracks, and there’s no plan for earthquakes. The people there don’t care, and they want residents who are out of it. The residents are the best.

Facility conditions are deplorable If there was a negative rating it would apply to Emerald City Assisted Living. Security is practically nonexistent. You can walk in and out without a question at any hour day or night. There is no secure locked door either in the front or back entrance. The reception window at the front entrance is left unattended. It appeared that the individual was sleeping off to the side of the window only to be awakened when an outsider needed information regarding a room number for a resident of the facility. I don’t know who the building owners are but they could be considered slum lords not landlords. The building both inside and out are falling apart. Emerald City Assisted Living could use a complete sanitizing wall, floors, heating and air-conditioning vents and more. The vents are black not white. It looks like they are covered in soot which is not healthy for people who already have health issues. The air-conditioning is not working properly plus the administration seems to have an issue turning it on. Whether that is the decision of the administrator or instructions from the owners it is still wrong. The picture of the building on the website is either very old or doctored up. The picture looks much brighter than the actual building looks now. I’d question the staff in regards to their credentials. I didn’t see staff wearing anything but street clothing not even a name tag. There was no uniform worn to distinguish staff from residents. I’m not quite sure what laws govern Assisted Living facilities regarding medication distribution but I think they could be in violation of these laws as well as many other rules and regulations regarding Assisted Living licensing. Emerald City Assisted Living should be investigated top to bottom. The food has an acquired taste not good. The living conditions are deplorable, staff credential & work ethics very questionable. I don’t think Emerald City Assisted Living could pass a board of health inspection.

I am a registered nurse, and I called this facility to inquire about a resident who'd been referred for a procedure at my hospital. Of the 2 staff people I spoke with, neither wanted to take any responsibility for assiting this resident. I had about 4 simple questions, and it was as if they were avoiding talking to me. There are no true nurses around, only females who are referred to as nurses. And no, you may not speak to the adminsitrator.
