"My mother recently moved to Glorious as she can no longer live independently. The name is perfect — it is glorious! She has her own furniture and immediately felt right at home. The caregiving is excellent and the spotless home is located in a quiet neighborhood. Killo has been very responsive and attentive to my mother’s needs. A home health nurse told me this home is one of the best she’s seen. I was blessed to find such a wonderful place for my mom. It brings me peace to know my mother is receiving such outstanding care. "I toured The Waterford at Plano. I liked it, but it cost more than what I made. Everything there I've got access to. The size of the apartment, as far as for me, works out perfectly. I don't have much stuff, so I don't need a big room. They supply a microwave. They have a sink and a bathroom. One bedroom is pretty nice, but they're out of my price range. They were all polite. I couldn't ask for better people to talk to."

"I liked Twin Rivers. It was small and intimate, and it was well-kept. I only met the salesperson. I didn't meet the nursing staff there. They had a salon, a gym, and they had physical therapy available. They also had social activities for their residents."

"I have two friends there at Vitality Court Texas Star. We celebrated one of my friends' birthday but we brought food in. I haven't eaten their food. I did go to a wine and cheese there, and it was a lot of fun. He's just in regular care. He's not in memory care. It's clean and the rooms were large. I found it very appealing. As a matter of fact, I put my wife on the waiting list there. They have a very pretty courtyard with ducks and a pond. When I visit my friend a lot of times when the weather permits, we sit outside and get fresh air. They take good care of them, but I haven't experienced any of the activities because when I come, we spend our time together. Live music comes in once a week. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and if I have any questions, they answer them promptly. They always set us up, so that I can visit my friend comfortably because he has Parkinson's and I appreciate that. His wife felt so comfortable with it, that she brought her father over there also, so she has two relatives in the same unit. I think they're very satisfied."

"Gracious Care Home - Allen, a residential assisted living, was a nice place. The only thing is that I don't know if they would have been able to handle my mother with her Dementia and all the requirements that she would have needed in that kind of environment. It was just a four-bedroom house, but it was very nice. I just don't think they had the equipment or the staff to deal with her condition. She's immobile, she can't walk, and she's bedridden. The medication, the fact that she can't walk, and with her dementia, I just don't know if they would have been able to deal with all that. She would have required more attention than I think they would have been able to provide. I think for assisted living or for someone who can still maintain, and just has memory problems, it would be perfect. My mom required more one-on-one attention because, although she can't walk, she's forgotten she can't walk, so someone has to watch her all the time, since she might fall and have a very high risk of falling. The staff was very nice to me. They introduced me to a couple of the people who were there, and they were also very nice. They have standard-sized bedrooms, and you can provide your own bed, which is nice. They probably need to improve accessibility. Since they're a home, it's not necessarily designed for the handicapped."

"I love Brookdale Creekside, but it's strictly private pay and without the VA benefits, so we just can't do it. I like the staff, and I like the fact that the staff had been there a long time, so they didn't have a big turnover. They said I could come and get my husband to take him to dance and bring him back at 2:00 in the morning if I wanted to. They said that he told them he liked to drink wine at night before he goes to bed, and they said it's not a problem, he can have his wine there, that it's OK with them. I liked the fact that they cared enough about the patient to let them continue doing things that they love to do. I love the executive director, she was a lovely lady, and I liked what she said. I told her that if my husband could have his music there, he'd entertain everybody in the facility because he'd be dancing with them. The executive director said, "I want to dance with him." They're just nice and very personable. I thought that the rooms were great. The one thing that was interesting to me was that you furnish the room itself, it has nothing in it. So you furnish the furniture and the accessories. The rooms each had a private bath. Another thing I liked is that the facility was built around a courtyard, so they could go outside, and the courtyard was all secured, and it was a big courtyard."

"My sister was previously at Beehive Homes of Rowlett's memory care. The managers and the owners themselves are very hands-on and assist in all aspects of the care. They are very knowledgeable, very smart people, and understand the medication system. They try to make all the residents feel comfortable, and most of the residents that I have seen are very comfortable there. There's nobody who doesn't want to be there. Their staff was very attentive. They pay attention when you tell them that a certain staff member didn't do something. They don't hold on to staff members who are not doing right, like most facilities. The food was good because they also had a chef who prepared and catered it to the liking of the residents. They had wonderful events, and they decorated for these events, like Mother's Day, Christmas, and Easter. They were also inclusive of family members because they would let family members know that they were invited to come to these events. They would have these big banquets for everyone, the family and the residents. They even had photo opportunities where they would set up so that you could take pictures with your family members. They kind of went above and beyond."

"My mother has moved into The Wellington at Arapaho. She has been there for two months as a resident, but she was there for two weeks before that in assisted living. She liked it. We talked with the marketer, Jennifer, and she really helped in making our decision by explaining all the attributes that they had to offer. They wear their call buttons. They have one that they're supposed to press in the morning when they get up. They have a full-time chef. They're offered three meals today, but they also have a little kitchenette. They had different-sized units, but we opted for the unit that we had because it had a kitchenette. They have one that does not have a kitchenette, and then they have one that has a full-sized kitchen and has more than one bedroom. The tenants are very happy about being there. We did talk to a lot of the tenants there, and they all had a lot of good things to say about it. With all of that, it's pretty much cinched it in that that was where we were comfortable with leaving her, and she was very excited about moving there. She has access to a doctor and a nurse if it's needed, but she's pretty much self-sufficient. They have call buttons if they need it for assistance, like helping with the shower or changing the sheets on the bed, or something like that, but not so much medical-related. They have game rooms, craft rooms, a restaurant sit-down type of cafeteria, and a music area. Sometimes, they'll have people come in and play music at the facility. They'll have entertainment. They have all kinds of offerings. Sometimes, they'll have enough people to want to go to Windstar, or they have a shopping thing that they do. The food is very good."

"The food at Appletree Court was good. I've only had one meal there, but they had variety for the guests and the patients, so it was a nice experience. They're very accommodating. They have activities and stuff for my wife to do and she is engaged in those now. The facility impressed me with its cleanliness and it didn't have any of the smells you usually associate with nursing homes. The staff is very friendly and I stay in contact with them throughout the week. Even if I can't see my wife, I can call them and check on my wife and they'll talk to me and be very responsive. She is doing Bible study. She seems to enjoy doing puzzles. They had Santa Claus come in already and they decorate for the holidays. They have decorated for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and singing Christmas carols and stuff like that. Right now, I'm impressed with the facility. The only thing I'm having problems with is the wi-fi goes down periodically and I try to watch my wife on a camera in her room. That's the only problem I've had. Lakiesha is very good. I'm getting my money's worth."

"Brookdale Collin Oaks had everything we needed. It's a good facility, even though it's old. It is neat and clean. The staff are courteous. They have a common area and a restaurant-style kitchen. The staff member was a very nice guy. They have a grill outside and a cookout area where residents can hang around."

"I toured DaySpring Assisted Living. The caring was so sweet and kind, more loving and caring than just most of them. It's very clean and smells nice. It was good. The staff was a very long person who cared. The dining area was nice. They were doing puzzles and playing games. The facility felt homey."
