Assisted Living Communities in Bixby, OK

"My dad moved into Bellarose Senior Living this week. I felt very much at home with the salesperson, who gave me the tour. She introduced me to the rest of the staffe and they were very friendly too. They showed me the menu, and I thought it was really good. It said 'chef selected.' My dad had primarily been eating fast food, so it looked like there were a lot of options. If you did not like the meal for the day, there were also chef's alternatives, which were good. The facility is very beautiful. It has sitting areas and game rooms. It is very well upscaled and decorated. The rooms were very nice for seniors to downsize to. He got a one bedroom apartment with a nice and spacious bathroom where he could sit down and take a shower. Unlike other facilities where you have to step over the edge of the bathtub, you could just roll right in there because it is very large. It had a walk-in closet and a very nice layout. The facility is just three years old, so it is new and does not look worn at all. One thing they do not have is a continuum of care to skilled nursing. So if he got to that point, then we would have to find another facility. They do have memory care though."

"My mother is in Canoe Brook. We like that it is only 5 years old, their prices are as good as anywhere else, the care is better, and the food is really good. Everybody there is very happy, and they actually all like the food, which I know seems to be a big deal. We didn't think that she would be happy there, but she's happy, and she's doing much better. They are very good. If anything happens, they call us immediately. They are very responsive. When she took over her apartment, they redid everything. They made it all fresh and new. They are very good. The room is actually more spacious. It has like a little refrigerator and kitchenette, and she likes to have her snacks there. It has enough room for her bed, dresser, a couch, and a chair. It is nice. "

"Very comfortable here! The rooms are about 550 square ft but laid out very smart with lots of storage. Pantry, above and below cabinet storage in kitchen, Microwave stored above countertop, one compartment Full size sink. Plenty of lighting, ceiling fans, door between bedroom and living room for privacy. Big bathroom, room for wheelchair, shower with built-in bench, wide doorways. Two walk-in closets: one in bedroom as expected and one off the living room with several shelves that is big enough that I use it for an office! Bedroom has a door to the outside with a small patio. Pets are allowed. Built in dresser/chest. Housekeeping staff has been helpful. I was allergic to something they cleaned with and they worked with me to figure out an alternative. Great attitudes too: Kendra and Kathryn! My med aids are Cheyenne, Alicia and Carli. Hard working. Great attitudes. Professional. Keep me on track with my meds since I am not able to. Cindy is a hard working receptionist with a positive attitude and eye for detail. "Sunshine" Candace is a ray of joy and also a hard worker with a positive attitude. Sandra manages the kitchen with professionalism and is a great cook. She makes the best meats ever. Meals are a little heavy on the carb side, but taste good and we all love carbs. Tammy is the hardest working server EVER!!! She has a positive attitude and is so pleasant. Scott is the maintenance man and jumps right on things that I've needed tending to. For me, this place is HOME!!!"

"My mother was in Covenant Living of Bixby. She was there for a while and they told us that she needed more care. We had already started looking for a place to move her to, and she got sick. They were only assisted living and they did a very poor job of monitoring her health. She had edema. I even had a doctor write a prescription out for extra diuretics so that when her legs swelled up they would give her extra diuretics, but she would always end up in the hospital because they didn't monitor her very well. She got skin infections because her legs would swell up so much that her skin would break, and she got infections in her sores. As far as the care that she got, it wasn't very good. She liked it there a lot, but then the pandemic happened where she was quarantined and isolated, she couldn't see friends, she couldn't see her family, and my sister died of a brain tumor, and that was very hard on her. The facility is very good, the rooms are really nice, it's a fairly new place, it's just the nursing care. Her medications were always a problem. She did not like to participate in a lot of the activities, but five days a week they would have card games, they would have fashion shows, ice cream socials, 4th of July parties, and Christmas parties. She liked the people there, she liked the facility, and she really liked her apartment. She had made friends there, she really thrived there until the pandemic."

"We had a tour here and we liked them a lot. The staff was excellent, very accommodating to the people. The staff is accessible to us. "

"BeeHive Homes of Broken Arrow was really clean and it looks like the residents were being taken care of. The atmosphere seemed quiet, they had good-sized rooms with lots of space for furniture, and you can move around in them like regular apartments. The staff that I met took me around, she didn't do anything else."

"My mother will be moving into here. There were a number of factors we considered. The first thing we considered was the fact that as her care goes up, she does not have to move from one location to another. The food was nutritious, attractive, and flavorful. The service was very friendly. They had a lot of activities available for the residents. They had a lot of services, such as medical care, transportation, and that sort of thing."

"The Legend looked very nice and felt that it would be a comfortable home to be in. They had plenty of activities, they took you shopping, and they had a guest coming in to perform. However, the rooms were not comparable to some of the nicer ones. The staff was very nice, the dining area looked very nice, they had a large menu, and it looked like they specialized in unusual diets. All you need to do is let them know how you needed to eat. "

"My sister will move into Forest Hills Assisted & Independent Living. The best thing is the price. It was very clean, and everyone that we met was very nice. They had everything, a dining area, an outside area, and a gardening area. The staff was very nice and very helpful."

"The rooms are very clean and spacious. The meals are great. The staff is very caring and knowledgeable, they love their residents and it shows. My grandmother loves it."

"Canoe Brook of Broken Arrow was a little bit older but well taken care of. They had an exceptional tour director. They had lots of activities to do. You could order off the menu. We were very impressed with it. The staff members were great. They had a game room, an activities director, and a library. They had a patio out back where you could sit out, which was very nice."

"Montereau is a retirement assisted living facility. You buy in to the facility and the cost of that ranges from about $350,000 up to $600,000, or $6,000 to $7,000 a month, but you're talking about a place with marble everywhere and granite countertops. It's like you're on a cruise every day."

"Country Club of Woodland Hills kind of ruined all the others. It was fantastic -- the cottage, the garage, the rooms, the meals, the kitchen, the pool -- and it had a big backyard and a little patio. It had all kinds of activities going on. Everyone that we had contact with was just really nice. The wait staff in the eating area was absolutely great. It was a fabulous place. They were very helpful. We had a wonderful lunch. They had a shuttle thing, and they would take you from the cottages to the main area for eating and stuff like that. It was just great. I couldn’t ask for anything else. "

"It has only been two weeks since my husband moved to The Villages at Southern Hills. It doesn't smell. It's out of the ordinary. The staff are lovely. People actually smile. Everybody seems very caring. As I left this afternoon in their main hall, they had a gentleman on the grand piano that was playing, which was quite lovely. I'm as content as I can possibly be. "
