Assisted Living Communities in Forest City, NC

"I recently moved my Mom to Inverness. And even though she is farther away from me, I am no longer anxious for her care or her safety. The staff is like family to each other, to the residents in their care here, and to the family and friends of the residents. It is the place that if you needed for a loved one but were concerned that they may not get that "assisted living" environment, then it is the right choice. I would want to live here when the time comes. It is that much and more for the person living there and for the family members also. My brother and I feel that Mom is now in a happy, healthy, and caring place. Mom deserves the best and for what is offered and for the financial fairness that is Inverness of Spartanburg, we feel truly blessed. Thank you so much Staff and Residents for MAKING IT HAPPEN EVERY DAY."

"We went to Henderson Care Center Inc and it's about 20 miles from us. It's very nice, the people were nice there, and they cook every meal. If you're in independent living you can have no meals, or you can pay more, and have every meal made and delivered to your apartment. Each of the apartments has a garage and a deck out back, and it's just like being in a nice area, but it's expensive. The rooms were clean, and nicely laid out. It's a big, sprawling place, everything is on one floor, they have game rooms, a movie place, and they can watch movies together, but not with the COVID-19 issues. It's just a clean place, and a couple of people there said they liked it; it's wonderful."

"My mother has moved into Oakland Living Center, Inc. They've got wonderful staff. They're very dependable and take care of her. It's very clean and very well-kept. They have lots of things for the residents to do. They just got done making their own little flower gardens and they're fixing it to have a senior prom. It's very good quality for the price of the place. It's a great atmosphere for the seniors."

"My father has been a resident at Holly Springs for 8 months. He has consistently received compassionate and competent care. The staff and administrator are responsive to the unique needs of each resident, treating them and their families with respect. There is a "homey," family feel to the facility. It is affordable, the food is good, activities and socialization are provided. I gladly recommend this facility to anyone. "

"My brother-in-law loves living in Colonial Manor Health Care. He hasn't been any happier in years. He's been well taken care of and well-fed. The facility is nice and clean and it's a convenient place to visit. Everybody seems to be caring. He says the food is all good (he has gained weight). His room is clean and has plenty of room for two beds. They have a large family room as you enter. It's beautifully decorated with home decor. There's a replica of a fireplace with heat coming from it. The grounds are gorgeous. They have a swing that he can go sit in. They also offer outings. They have a doctor on staff that comes in every two weeks and an eye doctor that comes in and checks them."

"Sweet Caroline was nice, small, and very private. They had a lot of activities planned, and they take them out every day to do something. They go to senior centers and picnics. The person who toured us around was very nice. When they found out that my grandmother had a pretty good sweet tooth, they actually baked a cake for us. "

"My grandmother was in Lakewood Senior Living, and it's really nice. The people were great, it was very clean, and the staff were wonderful. It was really nice. Sometimes the medicine was a little lighter, and we had to contact the staff to make sure that that was taken care of. They had a really good crafts area, they had a lot of activities available, and the food was really good. In terms of value for the money, they're really expensive."

"My family member is very happy here. The staff are very caring and attentive. Management are accessible and take swift action on any things that need to be addressed. The first thing noticed is the age of the facility but I’m told a major renovation is eminent. Our relative is making friends. They are picky about food but they are satisfied with the taste and quality - no complaints. There are activities but I’m not sure what they are as they don’t participate. They have a transport to take residents to medical Appointments. Again we are very impressed with the proactive approach of the management team. "

"It is a safe environment, providing a structure that my mother can operate with confidence and be comfortable. There are sufficient activities in which she can participate. There are many caring staff members. "

"I visited Shelby Manor when I looked for a facility for my mom. The cost was very appealing, however, it did not have a memory care unit. It was a bigger facility so I felt it was difficult for my mom to navigate. It looked fairly clean and seemed very well-maintained. They had activities going on all the time. I was not able to try the food there. "

"Nasty rooms that do not get cleaned, The staff talks down and bad to my family member. I haven't heard of but 1 activity they went out to Mcdonalds and then they said all family's stimulus money was gone. They cut the water off on the residents daily can't wash their face or anything. They don't wash their clothes they send them back dirty. I don't know how they get away with this. They have 6 some residents all paying at least 700.00 a month this is ridiculous. "

"It has a very clean environment. The staff is friendly, and the rooms are varied from private to semi-private. It was very roomy, and spacious. They have 3 meals a day, and snacks in between. "

"I came to Summit Hills a year ago last Halloween for the same reason that probably 80% of the other residents did- a family member lives here in Spartanburg. We moved here to be close to them. They were informed that Summit Hills was a great retirement community. I was concerned about leaving all of my friends at home and not knowing anyone here. After two or three days of getting settled in my apartment, I was visited by several residents at my apartment and welcomed with open arms. I learned the residents’ names by eating dinner with different residents each night. I soon learned that we all have so much in common. I tell everyone that we are just one big happy family. We take care of each other. It doesn’t take very long to meet someone you can call your best friend- just like you had at home. This is my home now. I love all of the people here at Summit Hills. The people who work here call each one of us by our name and are included in our family. Come to Summit Hills- you will love us too! "

"My mom is a resident of Rose Hill Retirement Community. It's privately owned so I feel like the care is a lot better. They've got big rooms. It's individual rooms and not shared rooms. Whenever there's an issue or something with my mother, they work with me to help solve that and we come up with different options and things to try to make it easier for my mom. Because of COVID, they cut out a lot of programs and I don't know exactly what they brought back because I usually do my visiting with her at night. She's not a day person and sleeps most of the day, so she's up more at night. They cater to that where she's concerned. Their staff goes above and beyond in working with my mom. I've been happy with all of them. My mother likes the food, and if she likes it, that's all that counts. There's been a couple of times I've been up there when they were feeding her, and the food looked really good. They had a good variety of food that older people would eat. They've been very helpful because my mom sometimes needs help to eat, so they feed her. They're just really good with her. It's an older facility. The ladies that own it have decorated it back in the style from the time period that the people living there would have come out. So, there are a lot of antiques and things, a lot of older pictures. It makes the senior citizens feel more like they're at home. And the value for money compared to other places that I've looked at is a good value for what they charge. "
