"We chose Touchmark At Harwood Groves for my mother. My first impression of the place is good and it's very nice. The nurses came down and assessed my mother, they're capable of taking care of the issues that my mother is having. So we're very happy with the outcome of our visit there. The staff members who assisted us during the tour were very good, there were 2 nurses and the director. The apartments were nice, it's big and clean, and easy to go around. She's getting a studio, they have a list of things that you can not bring like rugs. So they're very upfront with the requirements of moving in. Some family members have been there years before, so I know that their food is good. But their food selections are very nice. They have activities and she can participate or not if she doesn't want to. The nurses will try to make sure that she's participating instead of staying in her room all day."

"My mom is moving into Fargo Elim Senior Living Community. It was a homey feeling place. We liked that. It is a smaller community, not as big as some other assisted living places are, and you didn't feel like a number as you do at some places. They took the time and talked to us. They went over everything with us and made sure we felt comfortable with everything. The apartment looks nice. It's small, but that's a normal thing because they don't need as much. There was nice storage. The shower was easily accessible for my mom. Everything was nice and flat. There weren't any spots to trip on. They have a stove and there is no dishwasher. They don't do dishes because my mom is getting all of her meals including where she's going. They have a smaller fridge, cupboards, and a kitchen sink. The person that helped us was fantastic. She was very, very accommodating. She answered all our questions. She was super nice and helpful. I have not tried the food yet. We are told that it is prepared on the nursing home side, and then they bring it over to their assisted living people. We've been told that because of the dietary restrictions of the nursing home people, it can be a little bland, so we just have to make sure to add salt and pepper and stuff to it, which is not a big deal. It doesn't smell like old people when you walk in, which I like. It's clean, and it's modern. There is plenty of space to walk around, but not like where you feel like you're walking down long hallways. They're all shorter hallways, so it's easier for residents who have arthritis or they can't walk very far because they get so winded and short of breath and stuff. They don't have a long hallway, so you don't have to take much of breaks or anything. They're nice and wide and they've got laundry on every floor. It's very nice. "

"We toured Eventide Moorhead. My dad liked the newer building better than the older building. He liked the fact that some of the apartments in the newer building faced Eighth Street. The other thing he liked about it was that it had its washer and dryer in the newer apartment, which he likes to be able to do his laundry and not have somebody do it for him. The staff was very helpful and very nice. The facility was very clean. The one that we looked at was very nice. It reminded you of a home, not a little tiny living place. There was a kitchen. There was a nice-sized bedroom, nice-sized bathroom, living room, dining area, closet, and washer and dryer."

"My mom likes it there at Riverview. She says the food is good. They have a library and a pool, and the apartment itself is arranged nicely. It's a nice apartment with big windows, it's not gloomy, and it has a tiny kitchen so she can do some cooking if she wants."

"My mom has been to Edgewood Vista for quite some time. She was diagnosed having Alzheimer's disease. It's never been easy for us her family. That's why we diced to bring her to a memory care facility. It's been a great experience with them. It's very clean and like a hotel. They also have memory care unit for my mother. What we like best about the community is it's pretty much close to where we live so we can visit her any time. My mom is treated very well. We love it and they are excellent. We just had to move her in a facility close to us. But all in all, they've been a great help for us. Mom is well taken care of with a wonderful staff. I would definitely recommend this facility to anyone who needs quality care for their loved ones. "

"My dad moved into Eventide Fargo two weeks ago. I have nothing but good things to say about them. It's nice because they offer weekly housekeeping for him, so he's got that service, and not all places do that. He gets 30 meals a month, which is very nice as well. The community is friendly. The staff looks out for him. One of the selling points for us was the fact that he could transition to assisted living without having to move. They would just increase his services where he is, and it's also attached to a nursing home. So if he needed at some point a higher level of care, they do work together with the nursing home staff to help with that transition. So those are just real assets, I felt. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I only ate here once, which is the day we moved in. They gave us free meals. The family got a free meal there, too, cause we were helping him move in, which was a nice touch. So I've only eaten once, but my dad tells me that the food is good. It's clean. At that time the person was very friendly and explained to us because we didn't know how to manage at all, or what to do. And the person didn't get impatient with us because we misunderstood some things and we ended up going like 10 minutes before we were supposed to before it ended because we thought you could come any time during that time. You're supposed to be there in the beginning and then it ends. So we had like 10 minutes, but we didn't understand that. They were just so nice to us about that and explained how it worked. But they made sure we got food anyway. My dad says people are always there to help him because he has a power wheelchair. The breakfast is a continental one, so he has to carry the food to the table for breakfast and they help him do that. He does cards, every day they have a card group and game cards, and games, and he had a great time playing with them the other day. I know they have a chapel here as well. So they have religious services, and they have free transportation to medical appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But, there are other community options for other days and other kinds of appointments, but you have to pay for those. They have a pub, they have happy hour, you know, dad doesn't do that. Dad went to a Bible study he enjoyed."

"I visited a friend in New Perspective | West Fargo. It was a very nice, brand new facility. They're just opening at that time. They had a library, they had a small swimming pool, you could do water exercises, and they had scheduled activities. The services were great, she was very happy. Their apartments were smaller.They had Bible studies and they had things going on. The residents are smiling and happy, and they were at various different places throughout the building, some were playing bingo somewhere over by a fireplace, reading, and having coffee. They had underground parking which was included in the rent."

"I toured Sheyenne Crossings. I have nothing bad to say about it. You walk in, it's very, very inviting. The staff was very accommodating. The facility was extremely clean and amenable to seniors. It was a very nice building. You could tell it's newer than some of the other ones. The dining area looked very nice. The studio rooms were kind of small, but the one-bedrooms were perfect. The courtyard was big and open. They had a fire pit. They had seating outside all over the place. It was very nice."

"My father moved into Eventide Sheyenne Crossing Memory Care. The place is very well kept, clean, and the receptionist is very helpful, very pleasant. The social workers, and the admissions staff are very helpful. They answer all questions if you know what to ask. They are absolutely great. I would say the room is fine, it's nothing special, but it's adequate. He's been in physical therapy, and I know that they made him laugh, and stuff like that. As far as outside activities, I don't think he's taken part in any of it, but I know that they offer two different things every day. They have bingo, they have therapy dogs, and I can't complain at all. I have not been in the dining area, he's been eating in his room the entire time, but he says the food is OK; he really likes breakfast. They give them the care that he needs."

"Kind-er Care Assisted Living Home is a beautiful facility, very clean, but it was too small for my mom and dad. They're a little more active than most of those people that were there in the facility, so they're just looking at something bigger to get more involved. They have the activities and stuff, but it's not getting to know too many people because it's so small. Otherwise, it was perfect. It would have been perfect for me because it's close to my home. The dining area was wonderful. It was very spacious and clean. Their kitchen is very large. They encourage the residents if they want to help cook, they can help cook. They play games all the time. If someone wants to play cards, they get a card game going, and if someone wants to do a puzzle, there's a puzzle on the table. There's TV, too."

"My husband has moved into Hawley Senior Living. There weren't many with availability, so we had to choose from those that were. It's a small town with dedicated staff and it's nearby. The care is excellent. The cleanliness is excellent. The food is excellent. He has Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia and any place he goes will struggle with keeping him safe because HIPAA rules are such that there can be no rails. He's not cognizant enough to turn his call light on when he needs help, so he's fallen about 12 times. The last fall a week ago, he broke his femur, so he's been in the hospital since then but is scheduled to return to Hawley Senior Living tomorrow for therapy. The food is home-cooked style. He's never complained. He eats everything. It's congregate dining and that's good for him to get out of his room. Also, their activity director is excellent and works hard even with his physical and mental impairment to make him involved. The staff is excellent, caring, and professional. They take residents who are able outside of the facility, fishing, to the Dairy Queen, for rides, just to enjoy the outdoor setting. They have a beautiful garden. In-house, they have activities every day, some he's able to do, some he is not, playing cards, bingo, church, and individuals come in to entertain. The vacuuming could be a little better."

"Good Samaritan Society Arthur is in a small town, so it is nice and quiet. The apartments were really nice. They could furnish them for you if you wanted them furnished, or if you wanted to bring your own furniture, you could. They have light housekeeping and meals. The place was neat, clean, and smelled good. Just a really friendly atmosphere. They had a rec area. They offer doing different things in the community of Arthur. If you don't have a ride to an appointment like in Fargo, which is only about 30 miles away, they offer a riding service. It's a great little community place. The staff member who gave the tour was great. She was bubbly, friendly, down-to-earth, and willing to answer any questions you had. She would make sure you were comfortable with what you were seeing."
