Memory Care Communities in Moorhead, MN

"I liked Ecumen Evergreens of Moorhead for several reasons. It seemed like a home, and when I was there, there was a group of six or eight residents who were sitting together. I think they were playing bingo. They had them doing something. The general layout of the place was more like a home. They get people together for meals. I talked to the lady for quite a while. She was very thorough in answering my questions, and she was not in a hurry. She gave me as much time as I wanted."

"I liked Ecumen Evergreens of Fargo. The tour I had with them was great. The person who took us on the tour showed us the rooms and showed us the activity calendar and the main room (that is the dining room and the community room). She was very good. They had nice common areas. They had it sort of split into two between the dining room and the community area so that people could sit and watch TV or sit in recliners. Then other people who want to do puzzles can do puzzles in the middle of this facility. For the dementia unit, I thought it was well laid out for what you wanted to do. The room comes standard with a twin bed, a nightstand, a lamp, and a dresser. If you want that, you can have that. It's just part of the room and I like that. For my dad, he doesn't need all that stuff, but I thought that was a nice option. It also had the bathroom in there and it was just an open space. I felt very comfortable. It was warm and cozy. When I walked in, I liked it instantly. The staff all wanted to work there. They all seemed to be interacting with people. They were talking to the residents and everybody was doing something. I liked the warmth of it when you came in."

"I was touring different facilities in Fargo-Moorhead. It's a much smaller facility and I just felt it was kind of more homey. It felt right when I walked in. They have an efficiency mostly and then a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. Dad is going to move into an efficiency and he just needs one room. It's like a very large bedroom. It is just for sleeping in because he'll be doing the eating and everything else out in the community room. Dad can't prepare food or do anything like that on his own. So, it's strictly a bedroom with no kitchen or anything like that. The dementia is a locked unit. So when you go in, it has a hallway with the apartments, and in the middle of that is a community room where they do activities. They also eat there. Then down at the end of the hallway, they have a TV room for watching TV. So, that's all Dad needs because he doesn't do much else. Carmen was the executive director. She was very good and she gave us our tours twice. The room is very clean. A lady lived in the room for 15 years before she died so they're going to wash all the walls and repaint them and then clean the carpet. It had a lot of spots on it (food spots). So, they're either going to replace it or clean it. They have to use the special cleaners regulated by the state for spillage and that kind of stuff."

"I have positive thoughts regarding Farmstead Care. I would move over there today. It was very nice, and I like it. The director was very nice, too. The tour was good, and it felt comfortable. I like everybody, and I thought the staff was nice. It is set in a residential area, so it is warm and inviting. It's very clean, too."

"My mom has been in Serenity Assisted Living and Memory Care for three-and-a-half years now, and our experience has been good. The people working there are very friendly. They have a variety of rooms, like one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and then just one room. I looked at a few other communities; Serenity Assisted Living and Memory Care was one of the nicer ones, and we actually knew the owners, so that helps. The food is OK, too. Before the COVID shutdown, they had groups come in once a week to sing or play instruments. They also had bingo, movies, and crafts."

"Touchmark at Harwood Groves was very accommodating. It's a beautiful facility. There are lots of stuff. I just need more care than they had available. It was extremely nice. They have both independent and assisted living. They don't have nursing home care, which is about what I need now. It was very clean and well-kept. It's an active community. There are lots of entertainment. They had a healthcare exercise area. They had to order off the menu. They had a bar. They had various trips and entertainment. Their accommodations for rooms were extremely nice, well-kept, and well-equipped. The staff was very friendly. The residents were very friendly. In the facility, they have order off the menu type of eating facility, so it's sort of like a restaurant in-house. They did not have a grocery store in-house, but I did see people walking by with deliveries from the local grocery store that was nearby if people could get around. The campus is quite large and I think they have garden areas, etc. They had two or three dining areas. They had a smaller one if you wanted to host something or a smaller area to eat if you didn't want to be in the larger area. They have a regular menu for all the meals, but you could also order off the menu if you didn't like what they were serving."
