Independent Living Communities in Fargo,

"I went to Carriage House Senior Apartments, but they don't have any openings. I think the cleanliness was wonderful. It's cozy. The staff was very friendly and thorough. They showed me a one-bedroom apartment. It's handy there to get from floor to floor. They have an elevator right in the center. It's pretty centralized between the condo building and the apartment building."

"I will be moving into One Oak Place. I chose it because it's closer to my friends and my son. I was very pleased, and everyone seemed very friendly. It has a lot of amenities, a swimming pool, an exercise room, a library, and a crafts room. The staff was very knowledgeable. The rooms were accommodating, probably a little bit smaller than I'm used to, but they have washers and dryers in the apartments."

"Touchmark at Harwood Groves was very accommodating. It's a beautiful facility. There are lots of stuff. I just need more care than they had available. It was extremely nice. They have both independent and assisted living. They don't have nursing home care, which is about what I need now. It was very clean and well-kept. It's an active community. There are lots of entertainment. They had a healthcare exercise area. They had to order off the menu. They had a bar. They had various trips and entertainment. Their accommodations for rooms were extremely nice, well-kept, and well-equipped. The staff was very friendly. The residents were very friendly. In the facility, they have order off the menu type of eating facility, so it's sort of like a restaurant in-house. They did not have a grocery store in-house, but I did see people walking by with deliveries from the local grocery store that was nearby if people could get around. The campus is quite large and I think they have garden areas, etc. They had two or three dining areas. They had a smaller one if you wanted to host something or a smaller area to eat if you didn't want to be in the larger area. They have a regular menu for all the meals, but you could also order off the menu if you didn't like what they were serving."

"We toured Edgewood in Fargo and it was very nice. A young man took us around, and showed us everything. He did a very nice job. He was very friendly. The facility has independent living, assisted living, memory care, and was very large. The rooms were typical of memory care, around 250 sq. ft. They were nice, clean, and had their own bathrooms."

"My dad moved into Eventide Fargo two weeks ago. I have nothing but good things to say about them. It's nice because they offer weekly housekeeping for him, so he's got that service, and not all places do that. He gets 30 meals a month, which is very nice as well. The community is friendly. The staff looks out for him. One of the selling points for us was the fact that he could transition to assisted living without having to move. They would just increase his services where he is, and it's also attached to a nursing home. So if he needed at some point a higher level of care, they do work together with the nursing home staff to help with that transition. So those are just real assets, I felt. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I only ate here once, which is the day we moved in. They gave us free meals. The family got a free meal there, too, cause we were helping him move in, which was a nice touch. So I've only eaten once, but my dad tells me that the food is good. It's clean. At that time the person was very friendly and explained to us because we didn't know how to manage at all, or what to do. And the person didn't get impatient with us because we misunderstood some things and we ended up going like 10 minutes before we were supposed to before it ended because we thought you could come any time during that time. You're supposed to be there in the beginning and then it ends. So we had like 10 minutes, but we didn't understand that. They were just so nice to us about that and explained how it worked. But they made sure we got food anyway. My dad says people are always there to help him because he has a power wheelchair. The breakfast is a continental one, so he has to carry the food to the table for breakfast and they help him do that. He does cards, every day they have a card group and game cards, and games, and he had a great time playing with them the other day. I know they have a chapel here as well. So they have religious services, and they have free transportation to medical appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But, there are other community options for other days and other kinds of appointments, but you have to pay for those. They have a pub, they have happy hour, you know, dad doesn't do that. Dad went to a Bible study he enjoyed."

"At New Perspective West Fargo, the layout of the studio apartment units was unique. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and very compassionate. They put a welcome sign in the entryway when we had a scheduled tour. It's a very nice facility. The only reason we didn't choose that facility is because of the location. I live in Grand Forks, and it's an hour away from where my dad lives. Otherwise, I had nothing negative to say about it. They had a lot of things to offer, and I liked the proximity to local establishments, like a restaurant across the street and a grocery store across the street. The only negative thing I didn't like about it is that they don't have transportation. They only do group transportation. If they were going on an outing, like a trip to the grocery store, it would be for the group, but if my dad had a doctor's appointment or something, he'd have to call a taxi. They had a little fitness area, a PT area, a salon, a little convenience store, a little cafe deli area, and a library area."
