Assisted Living Communities in Wabash, IN

"My mom liked Coventry Meadows Assisted Living and Garden Homes. It was a smaller community and it had nice grounds. They had a lot of the same type of amenities like movie night set up in the theater with popcorn machines and different activities. It appeared to be very clean and well-kept. They had set times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So, you had to fall into their schedule as far as your meals were concerned. They had studio apartments. They all had a microwave and a hotel-style refrigerator in them. The staff that was taking us around on the tour was very polite and very knowledgeable. I saw a couple of other staff members in the hallways as we were taking our tours and they were polite. They acknowledged us and said hello to us."

"We went to Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne. I really liked the fact that, even if my dad were to need nursing care, he would still be in the same apartment as my mom. That was really great. The staff was extremely informative. The representative who we talked to gave us a tour of the entire place, gave us lots of information, and was willing to help us with the VA benefits that my dad would get. The representative even told us that we could stay there for lunch and see what the food was like. We didn’t eat there, but we saw the food coming out of the kitchen. The portions were big, and the food looked really good. The people who we talked to said that the food was very good. As we were touring, we saw several nursing areas throughout the nursing home in which the workers were playing games with the residents. It was like the workers were everywhere. The place had a big calendar to show the residents when and where the shopping days would be. They also had services that would take my parents to the doctor and back. They had emergency care as well. "

"Not only is the community bright and beautiful, but the atmosphere internally matches the aesthetics! From the moment I stepped through the front doors, I was greeted happily by the receptionist who was able to direct me to where I needed to go. The staff were very friendly, the residents seemed happy and there was a great vibe in the air! Great community!"

"I would highly recommend The Village at Anthony Boulevard - Fort Wayne, IN. They were very organized. The food was very good. It was very clean. The employees were very helpful. They have a chapel there, if you want to attend church. They have a library. They have occupational therapy. They do a lot of crafts with the patients. I know some of the residents who are living there. When I spoke to them about it, they were happy being there. There's a lot of socialization. They're a very social group. They really enjoy their time there. Everything seemed very positive. As we walked through the hallways, everything was kept nice and neat. There was no smell. Everything seemed to be clean. The rooms were clean, too."

"My mother is a patient at Marion Rehabilitation. The staff is very, very nice, friendly, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile. The rooms are very comfortable, inviting, and very clean. I have eaten there with my mother. The food is excellent. The dining room is unlike anything I have ever seen in any other long-term care or rehabilitation facilities. They have several small dining rooms and they serve you restaurant style. When you go the dining room, each patient and guest receives a menu and you get to choose from two entrees. They have waiters, so to speak. The food is very good. It doesn't taste institutional. They also have a little café where they offer different things everyday and it stays opens until 2 p.m. What I like best about this facility is that it is so well-maintained. The staff is very professional. I like the way they pull together for the well-being of their patients. They are very, very active in things that they do. They have a lot of different activities. They have people who come in and sing. They have activities that entertain the residents and they also have ice cream socials. They take the residents out into town for different types of activities and shopping. My mother is very happy there. She really does well there and it makes her family very happy and thankful that she receives so much good care. They're very, very good. My mother loves it there. "

"We toured The Village at Anthony Boulevard. It was very clean, and the staff was very nice, helpful, informative, and answered all our questions. They gave us a tour of the place. The people there seemed happy, they were dancing in their little community room. It's a very nice place. I haven't tried their meals but the cafeteria looked very nice and very large. The tour was good."

"When it came time for mom to enter an assisted living facility, I chose Colonial Oaks Retirement Community. I will forever be glad that I did. Mom entered the facility at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. I live 400 miles away. I was never worried about her. The staff was friendly, caring, helpful, attentive, and responsive to my requests. They treated mother as if she was their own mom. Mom received excellent care for the two years she was there. I have no hesitation in recommending Colonial Oaks."

"My brother, a veteran, resided at York Place approximately three years before needing nursing home care. His apartment was very comfortable for him and the staff was excellent in every way. I would highly recommend anyone needing assisted living to consider York Place. "

"I would not recommend them. It's a very mixed income. It is not maintained. It was filthy. They only had one person trying to keep up with staff that were all over the place. I had an appointment to talk to them and they did not know I was coming. They are going to call me back, but I would not recommend that one for my aunt. They didn't have staff. They were way short. I did not see the dining room. It was on the second floor, but I talked to the residents and the consensus was sometimes the food was good and sometimes it was not so good. The activities were very poor. They had a person, but they left and they lost their activity coordinator. It looks like they lost their maintenance, their staff, and activities. They're just not going to cut it."

"I toured the Life Care Center of Fort Wayne. They offered activities for the residents. The staff were friendly and seemed to be caring for the residents. The facility was clean, and they had good security. However, it wasn't up to my standards. They could improve a little bit on everything."

"The people at Hamilton Place were very friendly. It was very clean, it was a very open environment, seems very spacious and interactive. It was just a very positive place, we liked it. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. She was really good about getting back to me with any questions that I had. She always came back with an answer. I couldn't say enough nice things about her, she was wonderful and her name was Belinda. The rooms were nice, they were clean and they met the needs that we would have. They showed us all kinds of rooms, and they also have larger rooms. The dining area looks very clean and the menu looked appetizing. We didn't have food there, but she offered us coffee and their coffee was very good. When we were there, we saw them playing cards, I saw a lot of different arts and crafts that people had done, and they were they had decorated their entryway for their rooms. That was something else that was sweet. So you could walk by people's rooms and see a bit of their personality outside of their door, or the little entryway of the room. They are decorated with the things that they had made in their activities classes, so that was pretty neat. That was one of our first choices because we liked that place."

"We toured Peabody Community. The staff was very friendly, very helpful and very welcoming. They had a little welcome sign for me and my family. It was so good that they were thinking of us and took the time to make an effort for us. The facility was very nice, big, and offered a lot of things. Besides assisted living, they had rehab or memory care or the nursing home all in the same complex. If my mother-in-law had to go into memory care and her husband could stay in the assisted living, they would be right there together, which would be very nice. "

"I think Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community is a very good place. The staff is very interested in getting to know my uncle and understanding what his needs are. We've been happy with them. He's got a nice little apartment, and it seems to meet what his needs are. Maintenance and upkeep have been really good too, as well as the food. They almost have a restaurant style dining. They come in with napkins on the table, and they try to make that a great experience. We've been pleased with that. The staff has been just terrific. They do what they say they're going to do, and that's been good. Also, it seems like every day he's doing something there. He's busy. I think from that perspective, they're doing a great job."
