"I visited TrueCare Homes. They seem very organized, very personable, and they answered all my questions. They seemed to really understand what I needed in the care of my mom. Even with all this COVID stuff going on, I was able to take a tour of one of their facilities. They went through everything step by step. I felt that I was very informed. You can go in as assisted living, and when you need more assistance, they give more assistance. The rooms were really nice. They were private rooms and you could decorate them the way you wanted. Although they offered a single bed, we could bring mom's bed in if we wanted to. They had not only a living room, but a sunroom for the people. They had a nice outside area that was fenced in. They've made it very home-like. They had different homes. They had houses that had four residents in it, and they do elderly care. They have full-time staff members. It's really a sweet setup in that they feel like they're still living in a home rather than a large nursing home. They have four residents per house with at least two people 24-hour care. They have activities, and they take them to their appointments. They even have in-home care, so that if mom is not quite ready to go to a facility, they could do homecare until she was ready to go into the facility. They have several levels of care, which is very helpful. They have a nice dining area and a nice table for everybody to sit out with little placemats. The administrator and the head nurse were very open and very nice. The administrator was on vacation when I first called, and he took my calls while on vacation, and set up an appointment for when he got back. That's above and beyond. The hallways, the doors, the bathrooms, everything was handicap accessible."

"Every time I visit the community, everyone is very friendly and the place is kept very clean. There are lots of fun activities planned and meals are delicious. "

"Evergreen Village at Fort Wayne was brand new, and it was built almost specifically for Medicaid and Medicaid waiver. It's very, very nice. It had a lot of activities. That's where my husband was going to go, but he needed more care than that. They had two big pool tables and card tables. When you walk in, it's like a huge room and a lot of people were sitting down there, some in their wheelchairs, some were talking to each other and they had newspapers. It was a good place for people who weren't ready to go into a long-term care situation. There weren't as many wheelchairs. There were walkers and canes, and they had elevators. They had a nurse practitioner that you could make your primary care physician. They had four levels of care and with the highest level of care, they would even come in and check you at night to see if you wet yourself. They also had 24/7 care, so you know someone was there to take care of something if necessary. They had a very nice dining room, but they also had a little bistro. The units all had full kitchens. They were very nice. It's a huge place, and it was very well planned."

"We went to BrightStar Senior Living of Fort Wayne. There was no individual patio for the residents, and I didn't care for that. It's small which is nice, because the staff gets to know their clients pretty well, and I think that gives a bit personal care. I was impressed with how clean it was, and how organized it was. I found the unit a bit small, they're very small apartments, that's fine for people who want to be out of their units all day, and I think it's well suited for people in their 80s and 90s. I think the place is nice and the staff is very organized, efficient, and very friendly. The library, game room and lobby area is small. I think it's a very positive place. They cook from scratch, and I was very much impressed with the staff, from the director, her assistant, and the receptionist. It's one of the better places in Fort Wayne."

"We chose The Cedars for my husband because we had known people who had stayed there and they had a very good experience. We also know that they're a faith-based facility, the overall company is connected with the church, and so we like that. They have a pond where my husband could go out and fish. So those were some of the things that made us choose that. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly and kind. The rooms were very clean and with a bright, open view of the pond outside. It was kind of in a rural area, so it was a very pretty view. The dining room smelled really good when we were in there, it was very clean, and the menu looked very appetizing. They also have activities like crafts and Bible studies."

"I moved into Silver Birch at Cook Road. It's very nice, and the apartment is very large. They're very friendly, attentive, and they seem to be organized. They have exercise, bingo, cards, crafts, and billiards. The dining area is very clean, and the food is good."

"The resident rooms are spacious, very nice wall & carpet colors. The whole facility is well maintained, new & tastefully decorated for a comfortable environment. The staff are qualified, friendly & helpful. Residents have art class & bingo, church services & other games, more activities are coming & monthly fun themes that are celebrated. The residents are well cared for, hospice is allowed, it is a safe serene environment. My dad received hospice care thru a separate organization that came in. Caregivers are very compassionate & knowledgeable. The Director helps with any concerns we have & resolves them."

"We liked Arbor Glen. It's great across the board. It was excellent. The people that we talked to were very friendly. They seemed to meet all of the needs my brother would have had. The lady that took us on the tour answered all our questions. She was very helpful in letting us know what was available. We're very well pleased. There seemed to be quite a bit that he could've been able to do if he had stayed there. It's easy to access to everything. The cleanliness was perfect."

"Dad moved to Hamilton Place. It is a good place. They've been very patient and helpful, and I think I made the right choice going with them. The staff has been excellent, caring, and supportive. Dad's room is a good size, a tiny bit dated, but overall it was a good fit for him. The facility is nice and clean and smelled good. I am very happy with it. There are lots of activities going on. They take people on excursions and shopping every week. They also have bingo, games, puzzles, and different exercise classes. The dining area is restaurant-style dining. The whole place is very family oriented."

"I have had problems with Parkview in the past. Generally I think they stack their bills, hire too few doctors, and don't really care about their patients. The office staff and doctors have never been anything short of rude almost EVERY time I go in to one of their facilities. However, when my dad went to The Oaks for hospice from a terminal case of pancreatic cancer, they were nothing short of SPECTACULAR. We never had a single problem with any one who had worked there and they all really got to know my dad. It was not easy watching my dad starve to death, but they were not only there to take care of him, they took care of us too. Knew us by name, called when it seemed like it was his time. They consistantly offered an open ear and reasonable solutions. Now that he's passed and we've had a little bit of time to think about it, I would highly reccommend the Oaks to someone else. The only good thing I would say about Parkview. "

"I toured the Life Care Center of Fort Wayne. They offered activities for the residents. The staff were friendly and seemed to be caring for the residents. The facility was clean, and they had good security. However, it wasn't up to my standards. They could improve a little bit on everything."

"I think Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community is a very good place. The staff is very interested in getting to know my uncle and understanding what his needs are. We've been happy with them. He's got a nice little apartment, and it seems to meet what his needs are. Maintenance and upkeep have been really good too, as well as the food. They almost have a restaurant style dining. They come in with napkins on the table, and they try to make that a great experience. We've been pleased with that. The staff has been just terrific. They do what they say they're going to do, and that's been good. Also, it seems like every day he's doing something there. He's busy. I think from that perspective, they're doing a great job."
