"The tour we had at Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull was very well done. It was done with the director of community service. We saw every place. We saw the various locations, the dining area, the rec area, and the other areas. I didn't talk too much to the staff. We met with the director and a couple of other people on the staff, and they seemed very nice. They had activities as far as games and television. They were doing some renovations."

"My father has been a resident at Maplewood of Darien for 5 months. We have been very pleased with his care. His room, which is a studio, is very generously sized , the handicapped bathroom is large and the kitchenette is perfect for him. The staff is very attentive. When I am there even for the shortest visit, invariably a staff member will knock on his door to check on him. They have a broad range of activities. My father's favorites involve the outings such as scenic drives, concerts, plays and luncheons. He enjoys having lunch with a good friend he has made at the facility. Maplewood also allows me to coordinate his care with the V.A. where he receives his medications. The managing and administrative staff is very responsive and are always working to develop programs that the residents enjoy. I would highly recommend this facility."

"For the first Saturday of every month, my church youth organization and I would visit Spring Meadows to entertain the residents. The facility always appeared to be clean, beautifully designed, and well-furnished. The flowers, sprawling staircases, and chandeliers made the facility a beauty. The staff was always kind and helpful. The dining staff would always bring delicious, baked cookies and beverages for us. The residents were always respectful, and encouraging. The staff also helped introduce each resident to one volunteer. This made it easier for everyone to become well acquainted. On another occasion, I received the opportunity to volunteer for Spring Meadows. When I visited the facility to complete an application, the front desk receptionist was courteous and helpful. She immediately handed me an application, answered any questions I had, and even offered to give me a tour of the facility. Although I received a call to volunteer, school and other priorities made it impossible to do so. In the near future, when I have more free time, I plan to volunteer. "

"Atria Darien is a wonderful home for my mother. The staff is always helpful with any concern my mother may have. All the activities keep her busy and involved with life. The social interaction is rewarding. The apartments, social rooms, exercise studio and dining room are all top notch. "

A beautiful residence that looks and feels just like a single family home, but with attentive 24/7 care. Excellent meals, well appointed rooms. Everything designed to provide calm and professional care and a safe and welcoming environment. I can't say enough about the staff and care she received. She was happy and loved. We appreciated that we were always welcome there. "I saw Dogwood Home featured on Channel 12 News and I was very intrigued. Never had I heard of this concept, an actual home for seniors who have memory loss. When you arrive at the home, you pull up to a house in a lovely neighborhood, and that was our first impression of it feeling like a home. Once inside, the home was meticulously detailed for seniors; wide hallways, special sinks, showers that you walk into. My dad really loved the bedrooms with private bathrooms, and the idea of someone cooking and cleaning for him! I loved the way the caregivers were so warm, loving, kind, and the way they looked after the residents there. Very warm and inviting."

"The staff at Atria Stamford has been very nice and very kind. My relative is in the memory care section and we have an aide from an outside agency coming in to watch him 24 hours a day. They have activities to keep the residents busy like arts and crafts, bingo, and they have a library where they read and get books on their own. There's a snack bar where the residents can just go and get snacks, and they also do exercise and therapy. The staff is superb, and with all that's going on they still have a smile on their faces. The food is unreal, and the place itself is spotless; it's very clean. Their activities are great, and they take the residents out for a ride on the bus and drive around or to wherever they're going and bring them back. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. Most of the rooms have a view overlooking Stamford, which is fantastic. You walk in, and the girl, Joy, in the back who answers the phone says hello. They seem to know everyone else's names. I met the nurse, the program director, and assistant director, and when they see you they always ask how you are. They're very warm."

"I tried to keep my husband Rich home for as long as possible. He was a 72 year old when things started getting very hard to manage. Finding Maplewood at Orange has given Rich a new lease on life. He is thriving there. Everyone from the top down has given Rich their all. It is very easy to get in touch with management and they get back to you immediately. The community is extremely clean. The food is delicious. The numerous activities are geared towards all interests. The grounds are beautiful. When my daughters, grand daughter, and grand dog and I visit we all feel we are part of the family. Everyone who works there knows our names and is so welcoming and inviting. I am so thankful for Maplewood at Orange."

"I'm very impressed with Birchwood Suites. I liked it very much, but I want to see other options, and the price was high. I want independent living, and I'd like to have a place to sit outside, and I am coming with my cat. I like that I had kind of my own cottage with two entrances, and it had an outside little tiny patio where I could sit. I spoke to the director, Natasha, and she led me around the place. She was very nice and very encouraging. The facility looked pretty good. I had a separate bedroom, a separate living room, and a small kitchenette. The bathroom looked good."

"Maplewood was excellent. They had lots of different activities. A bus was just getting back; they’ve gone out to lunch, and they had someone coming in with a therapy dog. They had a regular children’s program so the older people get exposed to see cute kids singing. I was impressed with the staff; they were interacting with the residents, and everybody seemed to know the residents’ names. The location was good, and it was easy to find parking. It feels personal, small, and like a family. I saw them doing some brain games. "

"Maplewood at Stony Hill is a nice place for my mother to stay. It reminded me of a hotel almost. Everybody is very polite and willing to help. Everything was great until they called me and told me that my mother fell and she wound up in the hospital. When they found out there was nothing wrong with her,they just sent her back the same day. She has a very nice room. It is small, which is good, because she doesn't need too much. She has a studio with her own bathroom and her own shower. She's got a dresser and a TV. It's very nice. They give mom a choice between one, two, or three things of what she wants to eat and if she doesn't like them, they'll take it back and give her something else.. They also have lots of common areas and lots of activities. They have something scheduled in the mornings and the afternoons. They have snack time where they go around and give snacks. There is an art class, a karaoke class, and movies to show as well."

"It was a very nice place, but the hallways were narrow. We also didn't like the elevator because it could only fit two people. If somebody is in a wheelchair, it would be really difficult. The rooms were very nice. The staff was very helpful. The dining area looked very nice. They had a lot of activities like bingo, mahjong, and trips outside the facility."

"Maplewood at Danbury was clean, and everybody was lovely, but it was more expensive than where we are at right now. The residents seemed to be happy, and everything else was beautiful. "

"I was here for just over 2 weeks for rehabilitation and physical therapy for a total knee replacement. The staff was extremely pleasant. The physical therapist were very considerate and aware of patient needs and concerns. I walked out of here with renewed confidence in my ability to walk well again. "
