The leadership and staff at Brightstar Care (Edmond, OK) have been an incredible help to our family during a difficult and challenging time. Everyone we worked with was patient and supportive. The care staff that stayed with our mother were kind and cooperative with the needs of both my mom and our family. They were consistently on-time, very skilled, professional, and effective in their role. I can’t imagine having to navigate these circumstances without having a team like Brightstar Care behind us.

The caregiver became a good friend, but it was hard communicating with what we needed done at first. They thought my aunt was more coherent than she was and let her do some things. I would recommend them because they were one of the only places that responded to us and provided care for COVID. They turned things around for us within a day.

It was needed at the time, I had to have someone to empty the toilet and such. It allowed my husband to work for as much as we could afford. I never got the same caregiver, so I never had a relationship with anybody. Some wore masks, some wouldn't. Some were not timely, my husband had to wait on them.

The medical procedures are very good, but the people that give me the medical procedure are less than competent. I'd like someone who has some experience giving this procedure. The people they send out here have never given anybody the medical procedure I needed and they know nothing aboutthem. I wasn't very satisfied with that.

I don't want to rate someone higher because I don't want anyone to think that they maxed out and don't have anything to improve. They are nice and give me good help. They didn't send the correctly trained person who would be able to provide the services I needed. After my knee replacement surgery, I needed help around the house doing a little housework, getting dressed and bathed, and fixing lunch. The person they sent didn't truly understand what it was she was supposed to do. There were some things I asked, and she let me know she did not do that like vacuuming. She was a lovely young woman, but she needed more training to do the job that was needed. She could have helped me more with some light housework, like vacuuming or doing a small load of laundry. I didn't ask her to do a lot. She could have taken initiative to fix me lunch. If someone is hired as a caretaker, that means they need to take care of an ill person like me who is in a lot of pain. She was not intuitive enough to understand that. We had a hard time communicating.

The BrightStar Care provider had issues that were unfortunate. They came at a time when I had to leave, and there was a problem that I came back for. The caregiver wasn't very stable. When I was here, we went through quite a few caregivers. There seemed to be confusion with the person assigning the caregivers. I would tell them I need someone a specific day and time and the person would show up on the wrong day. I would call and ask for somebody, and my calls were not getting returned. I am impressed with the owners of the company, however.
