"We visited Brookdale Richland to see their assisted living for my father, but they did not have an apartment available in the size that he needed. They did not have any studio apartments available. They also have long hallways. It would be a nice place for someone mobile, but my father is not, so the long hallways would not have suited him. Other than that, I love the person and the management I talked to when we were there. They were very good. The rooms were quite nice, too. For a one-bedroom apartment, it had a nice-sized living room, bedroom, and bathroom. We also walked past their dining area, and it was nice. It was a very lovely and very restful-looking place."

"My father moved to Brookdale Meadow Springs. He is there for assisted living. He is in a nice room, and it's large. He's in a studio apartment, and it is the perfect size for him. The people are very prompt when he has to call and press their call button. They do a good job and make sure that he's gotten everything he needs on that call before they leave. They see that he gets to meals in case he's asleep, and they have to wake him up and get him down there. They are very good at attending to his needs. It's a little bit of an older building, not brand-new fancy with lots of chrome and mirrors and stuff. Other than that, the place is clean and nice. I had no problems at all. I have tried their food. I had lunch there, and it was very good."

"Bonaventure of Tri-Cities was very nice, newer, and more expensive. It almost had like a hotel environment, so it was kind of a little sterile. They offered amenities, but they only offered two meals a day instead of three. The staff seemed very friendly, but I only went there twice. I thought the rooms were a little bit smaller. Obviously, they were newer, but I thought they were smaller and didn't seem to have as much storage."

"Solstice Senior Living at Kennewick is a very nice facility. They have a very thoughtful layout and design. It helps people feel like they're not just in a retirement facility, they're in a small village. It's a very welcoming environment. They are friendly. They are caring. They want to help you with whatever your loved one needs. They have different areas like the salon, which looks like a little barber shop, and the ice cream shop is a fun little spot to have a treat, so you don't feel like you're trapped in a place you can't leave. You feel like everything you need you can get access to there. We have a couple of people who live there, and they're very happy. It's a nice place to live."

"My mom is in Royal Columbian Retirement Inn. We choose the facility because of the way it is arranged. It has as central core and because it is hard for her to walk and the doctor did not want her in a wheelchair to keep the blood flowing, she is located close to the central core. When you go down the elevator, to the right is the dining room, to the left is the activity from and in front is the living room and a little to the left is the family room. Upstairs is the hair shop and next to the elevator is the library. So, everything is a central core and it is really nice for her not to walk so far. The staff is wonderful and they treat her like a second mother. They take good care of her and they keep me on the loop. I really appreciate that because her memory is very bad. If there's any problem, they call me and get me involve in it. However, they need to improve on the food. But they have a new personnel manager and he is working on that. "

"We went to Callaway Gardens Alzheimer's Special Care. We liked them. It had a homey feel to it. We originally wanted to put my mom there. The staff came to my house to assess my mom. And when the nurse came to do an assessment, that's when we realized my mother needed to go to the hospital. I left my mom in bed because I wanted the nurse to see how I got her up and how the morning went. My mother had pneumonia and so she couldn't stand, but she wasn't like that the day before. And so I just loved the fact that they were willing to come over and do an assessment and help me through the process of getting her to the hospital. They were amazing because my anxiety went up and they were just wonderful to work with without my mom even being a part of their community. When you walk through Callaway Gardens, you don't smell a nasty odor, and you can tell that it is very clean and kept up right. They have a great staff. I noticed a few nurses there, so I knew that they had their clients covered. And I loved the director. She was just willing to do whatever it took to make sure that my mom was taken care of, and that was even before having her be a part of Callaway Gardens."

"My dad lived in Parkview Estates for a couple of years. He was in independent living, and we liked the community. There were a lot of activities, the activities were wonderful, and the activity director there was this little ball of energy. Every day, there was something that they could do, maybe because they were more capable because they were so independent. There were card games going on, and they had this hand shuffleboard thing they could do. There was a huge puzzle room, billiards, and pool tables. They could do card games in a card room, and then there were games if you wanted to do that sort of thing. There were little concerts and piano players, too. One of the maintenance men played a guitar and was in a little band, so they'd have the band once a week. There were always lots of activities to do, and I liked that. The food was very basic, and it's kinda hard to say that it wasn't the diet for older people, but it was a little bit on the bland side. My dad had a one-bedroom with a small living room, a bedroom that was about the same size, and a nice-sized bathroom. It had a small kitchen that had a stovetop and a microwave. The housekeepers needed to do a little bit of a better job. They just didn't see all the crumbs under the chair and that sort of thing. Other than that, they just remodeled the place, so it was gorgeous."

"Love the staff here! My Dad’s been here 2+ years, and although there have been a few staff changes. They’ve all been helpful & responsive, and most of all, take great care of my Dad! They try very hard to meet his dietary needs and preferences, and secure extra medical help as necessary to keep him well. At first, my dad was the only man in his house, so he was happier when other men came, as everyone needs someone to relate to & visit with about common interests. I’d recommend From the Heart if your elder needs full time care or supervision. Each resident has their own private bedroom and bath, and has an opportunity to socialize at meal times and throughout the day in the living room, where there’s always a puzzle going, a large TV, and comfortable seating. The staff also recognizes special occasions for residents and go out of their way to make family members feel welcome! "

"We have already placed my dad into Tri-Cities Retirement Inn. They are really good to him. He has dementia, but he thinks the people are just amazing. He is a picky food person and they make sure that he likes whatever he is going to eat. They make sure he doesn't wander. I can call and ask how my dad is, what's going on and how he is reacting, and they will let me know. With Covid, we're doing the screen visits. They're very upfront and open. The workers that I have met that work there are super nice and really caring. They will tell you how he is doing and what's going on. There are different activities that they do every day, especially at the memory care, to try to keep them thinking. However, at this point, my dad tells me, 'I really don't want to join the activities, but I really enjoy watching.' They try to encourage him to join the activities, he just doesn't want to, but they think that he'll be coming around. They go out of their way to make sure they're comfortable and have everything they need. My dad says he is in love with the food, and he is a very picky eater. They get to choose some things. They kinda know my dad and if he doesn't like it, they could tell without him ever saying it. They'll ask him, 'Well, what do you feel eating tonight?' and they will go and make it for him. They make sure that he is happy eating; that's why he says the food is fantastic and we're happy with it. It's an older facility, but it is really homey. I stopped and talked to the people in the regular section, and they just have a really homey place. My dad is in the lockdown part. Even though it is older, they make you feel comfortable there because of the way everything is set up. To me, it doesn't matter that's in an older facility because they make it more like home. It's a lot of money though because he is in the memory care."

"Three Rivers Place was very nice. But with the elevators and stuff, we decided that that wouldn't be a fit for my father. He would need a one-level place. It was very clean. The people were very nice. And there seemed like there were a lot of things that the older people could go and do to keep their mind going. The staff was very nice. She showed us around. And the ones that were working with other people out there seemed to be very caring. The place was very clean. They had all kinds of activities for the people to do. However, there weren't any rooms available to look at."

"I toured Brookdale Canyon Lakes. It was very good and very informative. They told me that if my parents didn't fit in there, they would help with other assistance, and that's all good. The staff worked hard to figure out the cost element. They were very good and very willing to work with us. The staff were excellent. The facilities were very clean, very neat, fresh smelling, and updated. They have a good selection of physical therapy programs including water aerobics, which a lot of them don't have here in the Tri-Cities, so that was very nice, too. They have quite a good selection of facilities. They take you from independent care through end-of-life care. Their willingness to help you go through the different stages, and get you the right paperwork and into the right facility based on your needs is outstanding."

"We walked in Sun Terrace Prosser, and the staff were very friendly. It was clean, and we just felt comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. I like the location. They offered to help with mom's daily living. They will come and check on her, take care of her, help her shower, and take care of her medicines. We got there at lunch time, so they were in the dining room eating. They have a fromal dining room. They have an activities room. They said it was Thirsty Thursday, and in the afternoon they were going to have wine tasting. They also have crafts, and they have something scheduled for the mornings in the afternoon. They had an emergency situation while I was there, and within seconds the ambulance was called. They had everything under control within seconds. They've got shade trees around. They've got a courtyard. They've got fountains, and people can go out and sit in the shade."

"My brother is a resident of Sun Terrace Hermiston. The staff, even from the administration department down to the caregivers, they're all very polite, very helpful, and accommodating. You ask them a question, and if they can answer it, they will. If they can't, they will go find somebody to come talk to you that can answer your question. They all work together as a little community inside the building. They take the utmost care of their residents. They can accommodate residents to their doctor's appointments if needed. Their activity department is very active. I know my brother said that he loved the activities that they did there. The other residents can make friends with one another. It usually happens in the activity room, like my brother, he likes to play poker. So there's a few other guys in there that like to play poker. So they all would get together several times in the week and just go in the activity room and play poker amongst themselves. I would recommend people to put their loved ones in Sun Terrace Hermiston. I have tried the food on several occasions, and I was pleased with it. The other thing that they do there too is like in between meals, they have this little snack bar, like all the perishable stuff, they have ice laid out there. They go in there periodically and check it so that if the residents there get hungry in between meals, they can go there. They have a wide variety. They have fruit and vegetables, a little dessert, yogurt, milk, and cottage cheese. I've compared the price of Sun Terrace Hermiston assisted living to some of the assisted living here in Eastern Oregon, it's a little cheaper than it is here."

"Yesterday, I went to Guardian Angel Homes. It might be the place we would move my mother into. I love the location, and I love the staff. They have cottages, and a certain number of clients are in one cottage. And as far as everyone that we've looked at so far, it has the homey feeling, like I walked in and I immediately felt like my mom would like this. They have separate bedrooms so she wouldn't have to share a room. And I could tell that the staff was wonderful. The clients that were there looked happy. We've narrowed it down to this one."

"My father was in the rehab section of Richland Post Acute. It was very nice. They're very busy, so they took a little bit longer to answer, which is fine. I loved all of the therapists that he worked with. They were all very helpful and took the time to talk to me when I had questions. When they would come in, they were very attentive to his needs. In rehab, he was having to learn to stand up and move again, so they always made sure that he was very safe when they'd transfer him from his wheelchair to his bed. They saw to it that he was ready for his bed at night because he was pretty helpless when he was in there. The place was clean. They would come in every day to change his bed. The dining area was very nice, too. They all got their dinner with their names on it because some of the residents had dietary restrictions. Everybody had a choice of what they got for lunch and dinner. The staff would come in about an hour before meals and ask each resident what they wanted for the meal. If the resident couldn't get out of bed or just didn't feel like going to the dining room, they would bring their meal to them in their rooms. For activities, I saw simple things like they would engage the patients in some painting activities if they could do it, or a 15-minute exercise in the dining room, or something. Other than that, I wasn't there enough to know what other activities they did."
