My mother was a resident here, and our experience was heartbreaking. Her anxiety became significantly worse while she lived at this facility. I personally witnessed the owner Leah speaking negatively about her where my mom could hear everything she was saying which was upsetting to my mom and disrespectful. I was also very concerned about the quality of the meals she was served. They often looked disgusting and inadequate. Never anything fresh or worthy! The owner Leah repeatedly encouraged me to have my mother placed on medications that would overly sedate her. I declined because I wanted her to remain alert and able to enjoy life, not simply be easier to manage. My mothers own dr (not leahs in house dr) refused Leah’s pleas for stronger sedatives and more frequent than the bedtime prescription given he said there was no good reason to sedate her all day! He had no problem sharing his mistrust with Leah and also recommended I move her as soon as possible Whenever I disagreed with Leahs recommendations—especially when I declined additional medications or raised concerns about how my mother was being cared for—she would abruptly hang up on me during our phone conversations. I found this to be unprofessional, dismissive, and incredibly frustrating, especially when I was simply trying to advocate for my mother’s well-being. Many of the other residents appeared to spend most of their day sitting silently with very little interaction or stimulation, which was difficult to see. One of The many moments that confirmed I had made the right decision to move my mother happened after she had already left the facility. We were leaving a medical appointment when she saw one of the transport buses they used for her to go to her appointments in She immediately had a severe panic attack, screaming, “I’m not going back there!” and pushing herself backward while crying and repeatedly saying, “No, I’ll never go back there.” That reaction spoke volumes about how fearful she was of returning!!! Mind you my mother has dementia and is in her later stages so she normally doesn’t remember most things so there had to be severe trauma for her to be so scared of being returned to Leah’s home Leah the owner also attempted to have my mother admitted to the hospital just days before she moved. I received a call directly from the responding paramedic, who told me they could not take her because there was no medical reason that justified transporting or admitting her. To me, this appeared to be an attempt to have my mother removed from the home rather than provide the care she needed. Based on everything my mother and our family experienced, I cannot recommend this facility. Families looking for a place where their loved one will be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect shouldn’t give this place a second thought and those of you that have family here you should consider moving them if you want them to have any quality of life! My mom has been gone from that place for a month now and is a completely different person! Her anxiety is GONE, she is happy, relaxed and content now at her new place!
