"The residents at Bonaventure of Lacey were all happy. They greeted me and they said hello. They kind of laughed and chuckled amongst themselves. It was just a wonderful experience. I just said, "Well I think this is going to be the place, even if it is expensive." They greeted me immediately and they were all very helpful. We didn't have to stand out in the lobby. They took me to a private office and then we discussed everything. They gave me the tour and then when I made my decision a few days later and went back, the same thing, we discussed it in a private office again, not out in the lobby. They were just very considerate. They seem to understand how devastating this decision was. They were considerate. They informed me that my husband would have a choice in some of the meals, which is important, to help him make decisions, and the other part was that he can have his cat as long as I clean the litter box. The facility was squeaky clean and comfortable. They have activities. They have quiet rooms where you can go sit with family, not out in the big general area. I was just very impressed with the memory care."

"I toured Cogir at the Narrows. What I liked best was the atmosphere and the ground. Their staff was amazing, friendly, informed, and outgoing. You can tell that they love their jobs. The facility was very well kept, with modern and updated furniture in the common areas. It was beautiful. It's like a park-like setting in the middle of the U-shaped building facility, and that would be someplace that even my grandkids would want to go. They could go there and run around outside. It just feels like a hotel or resort."

"I went to Brookdale Allenmore (23rd Street). The people that I met with were great. The facility is fantastic. It is a little more expensive. The other place was $1,000 cheaper. I am looking specifically for studios. The reason why I am looking at only those that I have chosen is because, at this point, they do spend down Medicaid. It's either two years or thirty six months. I've seen groups get together to play games. They were playing a trivia game all out in the lobby. They all seemed to be having fun. They have libraries, beauty salons, game rooms, and TV rooms. The patios out there are all nice. And the residents do the tending of many of the flowers, and have contests, and things like that."

"I toured Spring Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care. It was a very clean facility and it was nice. It was very well managed. The residents seem to be very well cared for. The staff was very attentive. They had a library. They had a recreational room and an exercise room. It was a split place where one side is assisted living and one side is memory care. I spoke with a very personable receptionist and the person who gave us the tour, I spoke with them and asked them about some of the things, like if they had physical therapy there and if they had pools, but they didn't. That's not common, I guess I thought it would be. I didn't sample a meal but noticed that the meals were changed a lot. It's not a lot of repetitive food. I did get to talk to one of the ladies in the kitchen and she said they try to mix up the menu quite frequently just to give people a different type of food to eat."

"I visited Olympics West Retirement Inn. They were all very, very friendly and knowledgeable about the care. The studio was small. The regular room was almost like a hotel room, but it was nice. The upkeep was very good. It's an older building, but the interior looked great. The grounds were well developed and kept well. That was a very, very nice tour. They were knowledgeable and helpful. They invited me for lunch. It was tasty, but it had very small portions. They have a grand piano in their social room. It was a wonderful, beautiful place. It was like you were in a very luxurious home."

"My sister and I toured Fieldstone Cooper Point, and it was very nice. Ideally, if we were able to go there, that's where we would want my father to go. It was very clean. There were lots of different activities for the residents to do. The staff was very friendly and very nice. For folks wanting to live in assisted living, it seemed to provide them with a good balance of independence and assistance as needed. The person at the front desk assisted us. She was in the reception area. She was very nice and very friendly. We didn't have an appointment for the tour, but she let us go ahead and walk around in the main areas and get a good sense of it. The facilities were very clean and very well appointed, and the layout was very nice."

"I toured GenCare LifeStyle at Point Ruston. It's quite expensive, but they offer a lot, and it feels like a hotel walking in there. The residents seemed very happy, and the people who worked there seemed more than competent and informed. They have a dining area and a nice pool. The rooms were great, clean, well laid out, and had everything a person would want, but I felt a little claustrophobic. They have a library, a movie room, a fitness center, and personal trainers. The place is nice. The food was great. They have a nice menu that changes every week."

"We toured Sound Vista Village. It's very nice, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a library. They have a lounge and all sorts of different things in there."

"We visited Silver Creek by Bonaventure in Puyallup, and I think the woman who took us around was a really good ambassador for this place. She was energetic, had a lot of good information, and had a good sense of humor. She did a very good job. She's been with the company for seven years. We visited their independent living because there were no assisted living places open for us to tour. They're in one wing of the same building. I thought the upkeep was excellent. The rooms were a good size for such a facility, so I was impressed with that. They have two dining areas, and they seat at different times. For instance, at lunch, they seat around 11:45 and then at a later time so that the residents can go either earlier or later. They have two areas, and they're roomy. It's nice and open, and the whole place, including the dining room, has a lot of natural light, which I like. They have a gym, a library, and lounge areas. It had been recently upgraded and remodeled, so it was very nice. It's someplace we would consider living."

"We toured Bonaventure of Puyallup. It's a newer community. I like the design, the flow of it, and the fact that it is new. When we toured, they were doing different kinds of arts and crafts. They showed us the movie room where they do the movies twice a day. They've got a little bowling alley and then a cardroom. They also talked about some of the field trips to take the seniors on. I met with their new executive director and she was very nice."

"I'm seriously considering Brookdale Courtyard Puyallup. Everyone there was very accommodating and very friendly. The facility is extremely nice, so I was impressed with that, and that's probably why I am more interested. They are a little bit more expensive, and I'm sure it's because of their location. They have different floor plans. Mike, the gentleman that I spoke with, did a very good job in explaining the care, and the fact that they don't have, I guess it would be called contract care workers coming in, that very much impressed me. He was extremely helpful."
