"Commonwealth Senior Living at Front Royal was excellent. The place was clean. I had seen a nurse on duty. I talked to a lady there and she was very nice. She was new, but she was very informed. She knew the names of the people who work there, she took me on all the floors, and she showed me the room that my sister would have got to go to if they would have taken her there. She took me through the whole thing. They have programs, and they have a library. There was just so much stuff there. They even let them go out on day trips supervised. The lady knew what she was talking about. She was very informative. She took us to places that we didn't even ask to go to. We went to the memory care floor. We didn't have to go there, but she did. She showed us the outside, the dining room, where they do crafts, where they play cards, and where they play bingo. We've seen it all. She said everything was made fresh and homecooked."

"Harmony at Martinsburg was nice. It's a newer facility. It has private rooms and bathrooms. There are specific rooms for the theater and a puzzle room, and it's just really open and flowing. The residents could come and go. I didn't have problems with the staff. The food sounded OK and they had condiments on the table, e.g., salt and pepper, if you wanted it, and other things. If you wanted it, you could have it. They just can't make it all so flavorful because not everybody can have it. The common area was pleasant. They have a hairstylist place."

"The Village at Orchard Ridge was very nice with complete service. They provide 3 meals a day and you have your own apartment. They do your laundry and the cleaning. They take care of the place. It was very clean and I was very impressed with it. I met a couple of staff members and they were very good. The dining area was very nice and looked very professional."

"Green Valley Commons was awful and very depressing. The setup for the rooms was not what we would have wanted for our mom. They have shared double rooms, which is typical. Each bathroom is shared by four people, so you have to come out of your room, go into the hallway, and into the bathroom assigned to you. I felt that was very uncomfortable, and very invasive in terms of privacy. For example, it's not private if an elderly person needed to be changed because they had soiled themselves, and after a shower they have to get dressed before they can come out, since they'd be in a public hallway after using the bathroom. It's probably the least expensive place, and it's as good as it can be for the price. We checked the dining area and it as kind of depressing. There's a door to it that leads off into the smoking area, so the smell kind of leads back into the dining area. It was an immedidate turnoff for me."

"This community was within 2 miles of where our family is. They do a lot of activities, and the other residents are a little older than my sister but she is enjoying it. They go out to Wal-Mart. They take them out once a week in their community, and they have church services, music, dog shows, and crafts. They’re going to have a Halloween where the kids are going trick-or-treating. The staff is very friendly and keeps in touch with me personally. I’m the one who oversees her care, so if there are any issues, they let me know. They keep up on her doctor’s appointments. I like the way that they treat my sister. She only has one leg, and they’re very good with her care. Her bedroom is a private room, and they share a living room. She seems to be doing really well with the food. "

"This is an amazing facility! My grandmother lived by herself until she was 90 years old, but after she fell and broke her hip she was unable to care for herself. We never wanted her to have to leave her home. She knew she needed 24 hour, so she chose the Grenich Care Home. Everyone there made the last year of her life comfortable and absolutely amazing. They loved her and treated her like their own family, and every time I visited she always looked her best and was happy to be there. No matter when we would visit they would always make us feel at home and offer drinks, refreshments, a chair or even a more private area to visit with her. They were always cooking homemade meals and doing some kind of activity with the residents. I am forever grateful to Mellissa R. and her staff!"

"Mom was at Care Haven Center. We were very pleased with it. They were really good and it was very clean. I had good communication with the doctors and therapists. The staff was excellent. They were very happy and friendly."

"My mother is in Dutch Haven Assisted Living and I like it all. The layout is great, and it's broken up into little sections. The attendants, nurses, and aides are superior. The dining area is always clean and they serve the food according to the patients; they're great. They do activities like bingo, little art activities, planting activities, and they actually brought in a little bird aviary with finches in it so they can all enjoy it. It has been great. The staff is great and the residents all seemed to enjoy the food, and they fix it the way they can have it. It's an older community, and it's an older home that's converted, so it's very homey and comfortable. They have a lot of activities."

"Coming up to the Hidden Springs Senior Living, it was a scenic drive. it was very beautiful. We spoke to the owner. She gave the tour, and it was great. She was very informative and answered all of our questions. We were not allowed to try the food because of COVID, but we saw the menu, their activities schedule, and stuff like that. The rooms were very spacious and better than I thought they would be. I thought it was very clean. I did not see anything that stood out to be not clean."

"We are going to move my brother to this area and are looking for nursing homes. We have called 3 times in the last 2 weeks for an appointment and no one has returned our call. We called for a 4th time this today and the person who answered the phone gave us the phone number to call for an appointment and to ask for Tammy. When we called this number and asked for Tammy the man who answered the call did not know a Tammy and was very confused. We repeated the number 3 times with the first person we talked with so we are sure we were calling the correct number. We will not be calling again or pursuing placement here."
