I visited this facility

The people at the Willows at Meadow Branch looked very happy, and it was clean and smelled good. I saw families visiting. The room was very nice that the staff member showed me. It looked like it was newly updated. It was really nice, and it was just a studio I looked at. They had bingo. The people were friendly. I popped in, so I kind of surprised them. There was no one at the reception area, but the administrator was nice.

I toured the Willows at Meadow Branch. The tour was excellent. I was able to see all areas of the community except for one that was currently under some renovation. The rooms were small but pretty updated. The tour guide did an excellent job of explaining their services. They had a good activity schedule. There were several areas that were under renovation, so I did not get to see them. The schedule is somewhat limited because of the renovations going on right now. There were not as many amenities at this location as there were at some of the other places I visited. The dining area was closed at the time of my visit, but looking at it from the outside, it looked very sufficient. They had some nice garden areas and a pathway around the property to walk, which was very nice.

The Willows is a clean and quiet place. The staff has always been pleasant when interacting with guests and residence. The food has variety but could be made with more fresh veggies than premade choices. They bring in different live entertainment but I don't think they do many bus trips out since Covid. One area for improvement is getting "buzzed" in during off hours. This is a sore point for many visitors who come back to the building after the evening doors lock. You can be waiting several minutes for access! Overall I feel this is a caring facility that definitely looks out for your loved ones and has their health care as a top concern.

I would have liked a more transparent accounting of the coronavirus at this facility. They had me fill out forms for my 96 year old mother to get the booster , but never followed through with offering the vaccines by a certain time frame or even let us know why. When I questioned why I was told “ the boosters don’t work” Really ??? This was against CDC guidelines We had to take my mother out of the facility to get vaccinated!!! During one of their lockdowns I only found out when I went to see my mother and couldn’t get in . An email would have been appreciated ! The caregivers are exceptional though and she likes it there . The administration making decisions against CDC standards is unacceptable and harmful to the residents

Provider Response

The Willows At Meadow Branch has always made the health, safety and welfare of our residents and employees a top priority and the past two years has been no exception. To keep our residents safe and to comply with recommendations from CDC and the Health Department, sometimes decisions had to be made before families could be notified. In March of 2020, The Willows had to abruptly close its doors to all visitors to comply with Health Department and CDC recommendations. E-mails and letters were sent to families and signage was posted as soon as possible to make everyone aware of the "lockdown". Unfortunately, we had to abruptly "lockdown" the facility for a second time in November of 2020. We understand how difficult these "lockdowns" were to residents and families and tried to keep them posted as to what was happening. In January, February and March of 2021, we held Covid-19 vaccine clinics for residents and employees. In September of 2021 we held our annual flu clinic. Due to booster shortages, high demand and other circumstances beyond our control, we were not able to have our booster clinic until late December 2021. If our residents made an appointment with our pharmacy, they offered to give them booster shots at their facility. Several of our family members took their loved ones out to get their boosters before we were able to hold our clinic. The administration never stated that the boosters were not given because they did not work. We regret any misunderstanding that any family member may have had about why the boosters were not given until late December. Although this has been a very trying and confusing time, the administration has always tried to follow Health Department and CDC recommendations We also know this is a very emotional time for our family members and we will be only too happy to discuss any confusion they might have about our policy and procedures.

I chose The Willows At Meadow Branch for my mother. It was clean, and the staff was well informed (or they informed me). It just seems like it was a good facility. The room was nice. They had multiple rooms to select from. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all the questions I had. They had one wing that was for like Alzheimer's patients and dementia; the other wing was for assisted living. Then their cafeteria where they ate meals was in the middle. They offer a hairdresser, the whole gamut of doctors from family practice, and psychiatrist. They come in at different times.

We chose The Willows at Meadow Branch, and my father moved in about a month ago. It's clean, and it has constant care. I mean, they check in on him. He has a private room. He enjoys the people, the dining facility, and the church service. People can visit. He likes that people are visiting him freely. It's less worry for me knowing he's there. It's been a good decision all around. I've been very pleased with the care there. They have a salon, a barbershop, and an activities room. He also gets physical therapy, and he enjoys that. They do have music. Somebody comes in, they usually have some kind of live music once a week, and he's been taking that in. They're very prompt about picking him up for dinner and taking him down there, or they check to see if he wants to go down to dinner. For the most part, the meals are OK. I've seen them, they looked fine, but he's a picky eater. It's very clean and open, and there are plenty of areas for him if he wants to leave his room to just try a different spot. There are plenty of places to go. There's one sunroom and there's a porch. There is an area where they can go outside, and there are plenty of little areas at the end of the halls where he can move around if he wants. He likes the music they’ve had. The church service is very nice. Sitting outside and talking with the residents has been pleasant. The value for the money is good.

My friend has been in The Willows at Meadow Branch for two weeks now. I'm familiar with it. It's one of the best in the area. They're very accommodating. It was accommodating up until they got their first couple of cases of Covid, now they're on lockdown like everybody else. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. My friend loves their food. He is in a newly refurbished studio apartment that appears brand new. They have renovated a whole lot of the old apartments and they're like brand new. It's first class and well thought out. I would absolutely recommend The Willows at Meadow Branch. Activities is a 5, although everything is shut down now and nobody is doing anything for a week or two.

Provider Response

Dear Rick, Thank you very much for your review. At The Willows, we know how difficult a move to unfamiliar places are, and even harder with the pandemic. The hardships all our Seniors across this Nation are going through not being with their loved ones is extreme. While we follow the guidelines from the State Health Department regarding visitations, we will continue to enrich our Residents lives with joy, laughter and love. They are our #1 priority, and their happiness and well being is our utmost priority. I am thrilled your friend is enjoying his new home, and his new friendships.

The Willows at Meadow Branch had the best price for a one-bedroomof all the facilities I visited. The staff was pretty good. I liked the director a lot. She was low pressure and nice. I had lunch there, and it was average. They were a little understaffed, but they were looking to hire some more people. It wasn't the cleanest of the places, but the layout was nice. It's a single story, spacious, accommodating, and not crowded. They have a pretty good reputation. The facility needed to be a little bit tidier, but it was nice.

My uncle is in assisted living at The Willows at Meadow Branch. It's terrific and I love the community. I loved the people who work there. They're very attentive, and my uncle absolutely loves it there. My uncle's room is pretty spacious, quiet and clean, and they have done a fabulous job. The dining area is clean and my uncle hasn't complained about the food. They took him on a bus tour of the mountains and he said it was fabulous. He loves the huge veranda or front porch out front where a lot of the guests there sit and talk.

We have decided on WIllows for my wife. It seemed to be better organized than where she is at now. It is much different, better situated, and better arranged. As I understand, even though my wife has had a stroke, they will provide someone to come to her room and roll her to the dining area in her wheelchair, which could affect the comfort of my wife. Based on my visit, the layout, my discussions with the staff, and the follow up, I would give them 5 stars. They have a barber shop and a little patio where the residents can go out and be in the open, fresh air. I have been there twice and it seems like it is going to be a very comfortable area for my wife.

First we would like to credit the value of Caring.com. Without them we would not have found this wonderful facility. I write as a family member of a 95 year old resident to whom we credit the Willows for saving his life. Prior to finding this beautiful and well run facility my dad was in a high end facility that provided for every level of care. When he suffered a UTI he went downhill fast and we thought he was on his last leg. We found the Willows and thanks to their great nursing staff, Dad is happy and thriving. The facility is well maintained, beautifully appointed and has a great patient care staff both internal and external sources. We simply love them. Due to its size we know everyone and enjoy both staff, residents and visiting families.

The admissions lady at The Willows at Meadow Branch was really excellent. She was extremely thorough and gave us a tour, and we left there knowing how my husband was going to be taken care of. We were very comfortable with her presentation. The rooms are small, but they're very comfortable, and they have all private rooms. The dining room is very spacious, and the food is excellent. My husband has not been able to participate, but they do have activities, and they have a church service on Sunday. They were extremely good to us. We visited on a Monday, and all of a sudden my husband became very bad, and we were in there within three days. They were able to accommodate us with all the paperwork and helped us get moved in. We couldn't have asked for a better service for a quick move like that. We were desperate at that point, and they made it easy for us.

The Willows at Meadow Branch was very nice. It was very open and spacious. The staff was very friendly and outgoing. It was just more expensive. They did not seem to have as much in-house activities. They had a large physical therapy room. The rooms were very spacious and well appointed.

The Willows was referred to me by Caring.com. They were very friendly and accommodating. They showed me around, and I like the place a lot. It is very nice, but it is about a thousand dollars more than my mom's current place. It would have been nice to have her up here because her family is here. The apartments are very nice, but it could probably be a bit bigger. The dining room setup is very nice. The thing that struck me is that they have sitting areas at the end of each hallway. They were fairly good size, and that to me I felt was nice because the apartment were small, so if you want a place to go and hang out a little bit, the Willows has a great design. The security seemed very good because they have been around longer, and they have a more seasoned staff. It is also right across from the hospital which is nice, so if there is a major emergency of some sort it is not an issue. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of it and the attention to detail.

The Willows is top-notch. It’s absolutely beautiful, and the rooms are gorgeous. They are roomy and are actually sectioned into little apartments. They’re immaculate. The dining room is like a five star restaurant. They have tons of activities. They have people come in, and they have music and dancing. They have cooking classes and art classes.

My mother was at The Willows for a month. The facility had beautiful setting. It was beautiful inside. They had nice dining rooms. The meals seemed good. My mother had a nice bedroom with a little kitchenette. Her room had a built-in closet, a comfortable chair, a single bed, and a nice bathroom that is handicapped accessible. Also they have bigger rooms like apartments. The Willows was very beautiful, but it was very expensive. Regarding activities, my mother wasn't up to that at that time, but I know they had a whole bulletin board with daily activities. However, there were a lot of incapacitated people there, so there wasn't a whole lot. There was a beauty parlor and an ice cream bar type place.

I have visited many facilities in the area and this is by far the best. The level of professionalism is superior. The culture in general is different. Very professional, responsible, and accommodating to clients that they have. I would highly recommend them. In all areas I would give them high rankings from management to infrastructure.

Hallelujah "The Willows" is a wonderful residence for my Dad! We searched and found the right location. Dad is receiving exceptional care since he arrived at The Willows. A 500% positive difference. The peaceful and safe environment, layout and openness of the Memory Care unit makes a big difference in Dad's daily life. Staff are genuine, loving, and compassionate in the care of all residents. Management at The Willows instills and has high expectations of staff to provide superior care. I am at ease and grateful the care Dad is receiving at the Willows. I highly recommend The Willows as you search for an Assisted Living or Memory Care residence facility.

I am happy to give a recommendation about The Willows at Meadow Branch. I remember when we first started to do planning for our mother’s care. Everyone at the Willows was extremely nice and helpful. Although I do not get to visit as much as I wish, when I do, I am always impressed with how clean and organized the areas within the facility are. The entire place has a cheerful look and always appears to be orderly. Mom has always looked well taken care of. When I make my surprise visits, I am always happy to see mom sitting and involved in activities. I realize the difficulty that the staff must face with taking care of everyone and am always impressed with smiling staff faces and the willingness to help the residents. I am happy that we made The Willows our choice and have been very pleased with the care given us.

As residents, my wife and I could not be more pleased. This is the first place we toured and we then fell in love with it. We moved in in January of 2013 and are still convinced we made the right choice. They have an extremely capable and friendly staff, in their care, management and facility properties and services. And their attempt to satisfy so many at three meals per day cannot be surpassed.

My mother has been living at The Willows at Meadow Branch for over three years and is very happy being there. I am very confident in the care and attention she recieves. The facilities are very clean and decorated beautifully. All the staff are genuinely caring and go beyond expectations to make my mother feel like she is someone special. They always have several different activites going on each day to keep residents occupied. I feel very secure that my mother is in the best assisted living facilty in the Winchester area.

The staff at The Willows, Tammi, Charity and Candy are all so caring and absolutely excellent! Charity and Candy did the assessment of my mom and they did a great job. The facility seems like a true home. The residents are not just sitting around wasting away in their wheelchairs. They are active and involved.

My mother has lived at The Willows since the Spring of 2003. She is now 101 years old and I believe one of the reasons she's lived this long is the loving care she receives there. We had a huge 100th Birthday Celebration there with over 85 people and the staff facilitated the party with food, music, etc. This gave us a lovely, comfortable environment to celebrate. When I was looking for a place for Mom to live, I went to every Assisted Living Facility I could find. My sister and I wanted Mom to live near us so we could see her often. When we walked in the door, we knew this was the place for her. It was beautiful and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The room arrangement was perfect for her. As time has gone by, I am more and more impressed. It's a family, not an institution. Everyone who works there cares about each resident personally. Mom has written poems in the past and she is appreciated for that and asked to recite them on many occasions. The Administrator, Linda D., has an open door policy, so I can just stop in anytime if I have a question or a concern and she gives immediate attention to it. The nursing staff is superb. They call me if there's something they think I might want to know about and lovingly care for Mom both day and night. It's a very upbeat place to live - attitudes are positive, residents enjoy one another's company, they have a variety of activities, great entertainment, special events where family members are invited, a chaplain on staff, great food, and several special places to "sit and visit" with friends or family. It truly is a "home" for my Mom and every now and then she'll say, "I really like living here." I'm so thankful for The Willows and the warm, caring atmosphere where she can enjoy each day fully. I cannot recommend The Willows at Meadow Branch enough! JoEllenC

When we first walked in the first thing we noticed was how clean and quiet The Willows was. A wonderful woman took us around to see all of the facility, not just what she wanted us to see. She answered all our questions and then invited us for lunch. My parents have been there for a while now. The staff are like family and take very good care of my parents. My father likes speaking with the owner which is very important to him. The nursing staff is excellent as well. My parents moved to The Willows after being in another facility that looked good on the outside but had no heart. Thank you to the fine staff, Thank you. Ramona

My grandmother was a resident at "The Willows" for 18 months. The entire staff,in all departments, knew my grandmother by name. They all took the time to speak with her and acknowledged her as a person. Our family was kept well informed of her status,so that we could make the appropriate health care decisions. Her care was a team effort, with the staff and family working together. The facility was well kept both inside and out. The Maintenance and Housekeeping/Laundry departments were always working to keep the facility clean and operating well. The dietary department made every effort to make her dining experiences pleasant. They took the time to learn my grandmothers likes and dislikes. The Activities department as well, spent time learning about my grandmothers interests,so that an activity plan could be made to meet her needs. I could go on about how all the departments truly made her stay a loving, caring experience for her and a comforting, reassuring one for us.We will always be thankful to "The Willows" for providing her with this truly personal, loving, and supportive cae.

My mother-in-law was a resident at The Willows after she fell at home and then fell again at the hospital. Because of her falls, she was in a lot of pain and was unable to walk. The staff at The Willows were so caring and compassionate. Often times the nurses would sit and talk with her, which she loved. They were so good to alleviate her fears by their knowledge of her condition and how to help her to improve. The director of nursing, Glenda, was an absolute angel, going above and beyond the call of duty in making her comfortable. The facility is so clean and beautiful, and the food is great. There were also many activities and music programs that she enjoyed so much during her stay there. She loved her physical and occupational therapists and the chaplain at The Willows. The therapists even made sure she was able to handle her day-to-day tasks when she returned home. The administrator's door was always open for any comments or concerns that we had. We even asked the receptionist Arlene to do a task for us, and it was immediately handled. Because of the excellent care she received at The Willows, she was able to return home and she was once again mobile. My mother-in-law's proudest moment, was when she walked down the hall to leave the facility and all the staff lined the hall and applauded her ability to walk again. I would never hesitate to recommend The Willows At Meadow Branch to any one in need of convalesence and cheer. The atmosphere and ambiance of the facility is warm, welcoming and loving.

We are also blessed to have a Chaplain that is available 24/7, 365 days a year in order to provide personal house calls with our Residents as needed.

Our Chaplain also provides a beautiful, Celebration of Life Service, for the family and neighbors of those that have reached the end of their journey. Our Staff and Residents have the opportunity to remember shared memories and use this time for reflection, comfort and closure.

Fine Dining

Our Resident Chef creates three delicious and well-balanced meals a day. From start to finish careful attention is given to the preparation, nutrition, flavor and presentation of each of these meals. Local produce is used when available and all recipes are prepared from scratch!

Cloth napkins, placemats and china are an everyday feature in our elegant dining room. Our Wait Staff is diligent in all details of dressing our tables, this combination of careful planning creates a fine dining atmosphere.

Sundays are special to many of our Residents because over the years it has been a day to gather with family; therefore white linens and our special occasion china are meticulously displayed to add to the beauty of the meal. Our food has been described as, “Homemade, just like Moms”, and because of this, we want you to have the pleasure of joining us for lunch; guests are always welcome!

Homemade ice cream is available in soft serve and with so many toppings available, it’s like being in an old fashioned Ice Cream Parlor.

A vanilla sundae with strawberries and whipped cream is a nice treat no matter what your age!

Active Minds & Hands

We have a full-time professional activities team that coordinates regularly scheduled excursions for all Residents. They also implement a variety of activities such as jewelry making, musical entertainment, with in-house and special guest performances. Theatre-style popcorn for the afternoon movie and an ongoing community jigsaw puzzle that everyone has to get their hands in at least once a day! We host Red Hat Society meetings, Art Exhibits, theme days with accompanying refreshments, tea parties, and the ever popular, Residents vs. Staff games.

(Running score: Residents 75 – Staff 0)

Residents enjoy a culinary class twice a month, and then revel in the fruits of their experience; sometimes they hold an old-fashioned bake sale, where our Staff lines up to buy the delicious treats!

Our Winter Wonder Years Ball celebrates the lives of our Residents that are 90+, which gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, “Senior Prom”! All the stops are pulled out for this annual event, jazz ensemble, refreshments, and our Residents dance the day away with family, friends and staff!

We foster the emotional, spiritual and physical well-being of our Residents by offering activities that enrich their lives on a daily basis.

Short-Term Respite Care

Need a break in taking caring of your senior loved one? Going on vacation and don’t want to leave he or she alone for a week? We make temporary neighbors in our community to feel at home; even if it’s short term! We can help you and your loved one with needs and demands by providing assistance. Depending on your needs, make arrangements for Respite Care for days, weeks, or even months.

A Secure and Specially Designed Area

Willow Glen is designed for our Residents who have Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Our secure area provides a dining room, living room, activities room and enclosed garden walking path with a gazebo. Secure surroundings and state-of-the-art safety features provide protection for our Residents who can no longer live alone.

Services in Willow Glen include:

  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Medication administration
  • Toiletry assistance

Our Activities Department plans a daily calendar of social, recreational and educational programs, that are designed specifically for our memory impaired Residents.

In order to assist Residents in Willow Glen to locate their home, each room has a color-coded door and a Plexiglas enclosed “memory box’ for easy room identification.

The End Of A Journey

When your loved one has reached the end of this part of their journey, we want to make certain that you have as much help and comfort as we can possibly provide.

Our partnership with Hospice helps provide you with information concerning your loved ones needs, as well as a dedicated Hospice Staff. Our Chaplain is always available for counseling during this time of challenging questions and decision making. Our Staff, along with the Hospice team is there to navigate you through the illness, help you to understand the process and give you a shoulder to lean on.
