Assisted Living Communities in Romney, WV

"When I first visited the Kensington in Cumberland, Maryland, there seemed to be a "royalty" kind of atmosphere based on the surroundings. The reason why I visited was because my great grandparents recently moved into the newer apartment complexes in the building. I seem to remember relatively courteous and friendly employees working there, as well as a seemingly positive attitude amongst the current residents of the facility. We first stopped to the in building restaurant to have lunch, where the service was very polite and professional, as if you were dining in an actual restaurant. We then took a tour around the facility, which included an indoor pool, a game room including a TV and billiards table, and a garden with benches and a pond. After a nice and breif visit to my great grandparents, we were treated with respect and kindness towards the employees on our way out of the building. "

"My experience with visiting this assisted living provider was overall very nice. The workers there were extremely nice and caring. They are also very informative. The people that are living there seem to really enjoy it there. They also seemed to be very close to there care-givers. I visited one of the better facilities. The people living there were also very friendly and none of them seemed to be having any problems with anything going on. The people living there were also very accepting of new people as in visitors. They showed me their crafts and things that they have. They also showed me things that they had made that they were very proud of. Everyone staying there seemed to be very happy and content. No one seemed as if they were being mistreated or abused in any way. I would definitely visit this facility again if I had the chance. Everyone is so easy to get along with. Overall it was a great opportunity, and I am glad that I went. It was also clean, and sanitary. "

"Chamberlain Graceful Living was very nice. They showed us around and were very open to questions. It just didn't seem to be what we needed for my father, plus the location, but that was an option. It was a group home with a shared semiprivate room that he thought he'd like the best. However, it's just a very small space to share. There were two small beds in it, a dresser, and a TV. My husband said it's sort of like a cell for inmates, but they encourage people to be out and be in their community center. They just sleep in their room basically. The owner lives close by and was very nice to take us through. We took pictures, and he answered any questions we had. He gave us some information and said we're welcome to call any time. They have two people in each room. Right now, they had an opening for one male and one female, so they could take one or two more. I guess they would have 16 residents there. It was Memorial Day weekend when we visited, and they were going to have a picnic outside. They provide transportation also to the senior center in town if they'd want to go to the daily activities there. They definitely had things that they could do in their own backyard and front yard. It's in a neighborhood, so there's other houses right there too."

"My mother moved to the assisted living facility of Commons at Cumberland. We chose it for her because it's close and has a very good reputation. The residents say the food is quite good, too. They work with you to help you regain your mobility. They have med techs and the nurses, so if anything happens, they're right there. They have a very large community room. You can eat in your room, or you can choose to dine out with the people out in the center of the common area. You have a lot of options. You're also allowed to pick your menu. Their dining area is large, and the table is set up in a square so everybody can see each other and talk to everybody. If you don't feel up to dining there, they'll bring the food in your room. They have all kinds of activities, and they do all kinds of things with the residents. They do cards, and one day they set up and play badminton with balloons. Just things to keep the residents moving to keep their brains active, and they're very ingenious with it."

"We visited Frostburg when they had just opened. It wasn't very large and we found it seemed very nice. The people who lived there were happy. They may have an Alzheimer's unit as well as apartments for independent living. They have help and meals if you need it. There were no showers in the rooms; they help you bathe there. "

"I placed my wife in a place called Rest Assured Living Center. It's a small community, but it's very nice inside. And it's kind of a family type of atmosphere. The people there are very attentive to the residents and they're knowledgeable about what they need, so it's very good. Their menus are very nice. They're nutritious and they're kind of comfort food. The building is very nice. It's very good. When I was there, they were playing bingo, but they have an activities director who seemed to be very active. The residents do not just sit around and vegetate. My wife is in a very large room. There are two people in the room, but it's huge. The atmosphere is very friendly. The employees acknowledge all the residents. As they're walking past, they say hi and you can tell that they do that routinely because the residents reciprocate."
