"My mother stayed at Piney Valley a little over a month.- had a very negative experience with administration of this facility. The unprofessionalism was off the charts. I would caution anyone considering to take their loved one to this facility- please research this administration and facility with OHFLAC. "

"My grandfather was a resident at this facility for about a year and half. The first few months of his stay, I couldn't have been more pleased with the job the staff was doing. Everytime I would visit him, I would hear nothing but praise from him about the job they were doing. The nurses and other caregivers all seemed to like him a lot and they were very polite and helpful. Soon after that, the owners of the home, sold it to a new couple. Many of the nurses that worked there were fired or replaced due to the new management. In the following months, I noticed a drastic turn in my grandfathers feelings towards the staff. He did not believe that he received adequate care from them. When I would go visit and speak with them, they were very uninformed and did not seem to care much for their jobs. After a few months of escalating problems, we decided to remove him from the facility and care for him ourselves. I have since been back to visit other people that I know, and the conditions have improved. They went through another management and staff change. It now seems like it is a good facility, as it once was. "

"E. A. Hawse was secluded in the countryside with very nice surroundings. The manager seemed to be on top of things. The staff was very friendly. The rooms seemed very nice. They had a physical therapy center, a community room, and they had someone there who does activities. The whole place was very clean, and there was no odor about it. It was just smaller, and they had fewer residents per staff. Locally, the E. A. Hawse has a very good reputation. "

"My mother-in-law is temporarily at Golden Living while we are waiting for an opening at one that is closer. The staff is caring for her and she is doing great. They seem to be happy about taking care of the residents. They have typical nursing home rooms. There is a roommate and a shared bathroom between two rooms. I have seen the dining room, but my mother-in-law tends to eat in her room. They have an exercise room. They have a beautician who does their hair. They have a community room, so I guess they have games and things like that, but my mother-in-law does not participate. "

"A few years ago, my grandmother was a resident at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home in Frostburg, Maryland. In a span of about 5 years leading up to her admission, my grandmother had seriously broken her leg and suffered a stroke. The staff at the facility took excellent care of her even on the bad days she had when she was hard to communicate with. I went to visit her frequently and got to know most of the nurses and caregivers. They were very polite and informative. If they didn't know the answer to a question I had, they found someone who did. The food and diet plans offered there were pretty impressive compared to most of the other facilities I've been to. They had an excellent physical therapy area there and a lot of trained therapists. My grandmother is no longer here, but the care she recieved here definetly prolonged her life. I am grateful to all of the people that helped her during that time. "

"My experience with this nursing and rehab facility was as pleasant as one could expect it to be. The staff took great care of my father, adequately treating and assisting him with his everyday needs. He liked the food as they were served three meals per day with added treats and snacks upon request. They provided plenty of entertainment and activities for the residents to participate in, keeping a calender of events handy for preparing. The living space is a bit small when you factor in two people sharing a room, but this has been the norm at any nursing home I've ever been to. The have a decent-sized cafeteria and a cozy community area furnished with a tv and more seating. When my father had a large number of visitors at one time, the living are was where we gathered. This facility had routine specialists visit to offer their services to the residents, such as getting a haircut and nail grooming. All the nurses that we encountered were very polite and professional while making the residents' stays as enjoyable as possible. The parking can be a problem for visitors if you plan to come during the busy weekday hours as the spots go quickly and can leave you searching for a space at a bit of a walking distance. This can be avoided by visiting in the evening when the staff at some of the other areas in the building have finished for the day. If you or a loved one ever need the services of a nursing home, I would give this facility a try. They make you feel welcomed and like part of their community, large in part to some of the friendliest people I've ever encountered -- the other residents already living in the home. They were quick to introduce themselves and make us feel as part of their already tight group. Neighbors are a big factor in a pleasant living environment, and this place has a treasure's worth of fine citizens that will open their arms to you. That, to me, is probably the greatest draw of all. "
