My dad went to Manorcare Health Services - Chambersburg initially for rehabilitation, but he wasn't able to do that. He declined very quickly. We went there for rehab, but he wasn't able to do any. They attempted that for a little bit and then when it was pretty clear that he wasn't going to improve, he went to just skilled nursing and he stayed in the same place. But they discontinued the physical therapy, and he was just basically in skilled nursing. We didn't get to experience much of it because we weren't allowed to go back into the facility. The only thing I can say is that we had some great nurses there that I felt were outstanding. The facility itself was kind of old. They were in the middle of redecorating it and renovating, so I think they're going to be updating it. The room had two occupants in it. It was very, very bare. It was two twin beds that each had a bedside table beside it. And then there was a closet there, too. And that was pretty much all you could fit into there. There was nothing decorative or anything like that. It was just basically a plain room with those pieces of furniture in there. My dad was on the Arcadia side. He went into the memory care, but rehab came in there and did that with him there, so he did not move to a different facility or different part of the facility. He was in the same part the whole time.

Feel the staff could be a little more caring, and they could use more housekeeping staff but overall it's a pretty decent facility.

I was at ManorCare Health Services-Chambersburg temporarily. I didn’t care for it. The rooms were fair, but they should get more help. They’re not working with patients any more as much as they’re working with computers, and their computers are taking up too much of their time. They had some activities if you wanted to attend them, but they didn’t have as much activities as some places do. It’s not one that I would recommend.

My mom is in Manor Care. So far, it has been pretty good. If there is any problem or anything else, they keep me well informed on what is going on. I also talk to my mother at least 3 or sometimes more times a week to know how she is doing. The biggest concern is the amount of staff per resident, and I know they go through some hard times. I know sometimes at mealtime or getting ready for bed, it does take a while to have that accomplished. However, as far as security goes, it seems OK. They seem very good about taking care of them and everything. The food is what you will expect in a place like that who has a lot of people, but my mother says most of the time it is tasty. My mother is usually in bed most of the time. They take them down for therapy. When my mom goes there, I am thinking to myself that she will probably not come out. To my surprise, she is doing quite well and walking with a walker. As far as the recreational part of it, she is only gets a bit of much to do and recreate with anybody else.

My husband is a there and the staff is very patient with him. the food is a problem, Ham to a patient with high blood pressure??? The facility is good, smelly but what else could it be. The staff, love them, especially Karen and Rose. We had to lock up his personal snacks, some one kept helping themselves after he was sleep. But every issue that comes up they address, except we are still waiting for the right diet.

My grandmother had fallen while living in her own home. She was in the hospital for approximately a week before being admitted to Manor Care for rehabilitation purposes. The staff at Manor Care were excellent. They are to be commended for all of their hard work and effort during her rehab. It was not only the physical therapists, but also the nurses and nursing assistants who took part in my grandmother's rapid recovery. Myself as well as my family members did not think she would ever be able to live alone again, but to our surprise, she recovered and was able to go home in just under 2 1/2 months. It was all thanks to Manor Care's staff!
