Seaton Hagerstown was nice. The lady was nice. It was above average looking at it. The accommodation was like an apartment. They had efficiency apartments and shared ones, too. Actually, it's pretty shaded there. There are a lot of trees around, and it isn't that far from where I live.

Seaton Hagerstown seems like the place that we would go to. The other place had a four- to eight-month waiting period, but at Seaton, we probably get in right away. The staff were great. The lady that runs the place and other staff that service you were just great. A couple of years ago, they invited us to an evening function, and we had food there, and it was good. They had transportation to medical services.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father has moved into Seaton Hagerstown. He's doing a lot better than where he was. The people from Seaton went to the place where he was to evaluate him. When the nurse walked in there she thought he had passed away. That's how bad he looked. Now, he's up in a wheelchair. Seaton has really worked with him. He has gone through physical therapy and everything. He's doing great. He's gotten a lot more care than he did before. Everybody's been great with him, with trying to get him up, and getting him to go to therapy. They just put a firepit and a pond on the grounds. The building surrounds the center of it, and it's really nice out there. They can go out there and sit. So far, everybody has been really great. They can go into the dining room and they can choose between two meals. They can get soup or salad and the entree. The meals look really good. My dad likes them. He had chicken and mashed potatoes. He gets a lot more food than he had previously. He's gone to the outside area because it's just gotten warmer now, and he's done physical therapy. He wheels himself up to the dining room. He's only been there a little bit, so they had to get his strength built back up so he could get out to places. They had the Easter Bunny there and they took Easter baskets around to all the clients. They do bingo and they do outside things. They have a little beauty salon in there and they can cut their hair and wash their hair and do the ladies' fingernails. Just like every place else, they are so short staffed, and everybody pitches in and helps each other. It's nice and clean. He eats everything there. Other places that we've checked charge a lot more.

Seaton Hagerstown was very nice. I liked the fact it had a lot of activities for seniors to do, especially in the memory care, to keep them busy and keep them active. They have arts and crafts and stuff like that. The facility was very nice and very clean. The people were nice, helpful, and informative. All the furniture in the room was wonderful. The layout was good and safe. There's a walk-in shower.

When I went to Seaton Hagerstown, I saw that the residents there really were enthusiastic about using these common rooms and they just had such an upbeat attitude. That comes from staff and how they handle them. I saw a group activity, and everybody was engaged. I saw a very pleasant surrounding that gave me the right amount of independence and care. My mother is a very independent woman, so that would be important for her. They were very sensitive to all the needs she had. You had access to a nice green space, but also windows looked out. So, although the rooms were a little bit smaller than the most expensive place, they still were adequate for your needs. The dining area was set up for very small tables and encouraged people to sit together. I think in the beginning you were assigned a table. So, it fosters people talking to each other, or at least not dining alone. The menu was similar to any other place. There was a communal room that had a little kitchen and a big TV so that you could invite your family for a movie night or pizza or something like that. Even while I was there, three residents came in to use it. There were two other common rooms that I saw. They were doing activities in a very large lobby alcove. When I say large, there were about 12 people there, and this particular one was singing. They had a large, grassy area in the back where you could take a sizable walk. The upkeep of the facility I would rate a five, and the size of the room would be a four. The staff who gave me the tour picked up on things very quickly, and she encouraged integration with the family with the residents also. It is a long walk to the dining rooms, and that isn't a problem for my mother unless her eyesight gets worse. I am not sure what people with macular degeneration do because it is an expansive layout.

My ex-husband will move into Seaton Hagerstown. I found it very professional and very nice. They have a lot of activities for the residents. I like the physical therapy program. I like the food courses that they have. They have two different choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have snacks for them, and if they're on a special diet, they have a special diet feel for them as it goes individually. They have a specific housekeeper that takes care of the cleaning, which I think is very important because the place is very, very clean. They have nursing staff, which I think is very important, and I appreciate that. The rooms are lovely, and it doesn't look like a nursing facility, it looks more like a hotel. I've met some of their professional staff. I haven't met the actual care staff. The professional staff, like the nurses and the physical therapist, the person that plans the meals, and the housekeeper, I've met them and they are very, very kind, very nice. The dining area is beautiful, it's like a restaurant. They have meetings with the veterans, to get together and have meetings. They have three physical therapy groups that meet three times a week. They have a whole calendar of things, they have singalongs, and they have people to come in. One thing that I've really enjoyed is they have bible studies and they have church every week. They have at least three or four things a day. They seem very honest on what they can provide for my ex-husband, and they'll stand by their word. If they have any changes at all, they would notify me ahead of time and we'd have a conference about it. So I thought that was very nice compared to other places.

I looked and it was nice, but the rooms weren't as big. But I just know my mother and I know she would be looking for bigger rooms. It will be one place to consider also. There was a library, a dining facility, and they said after the COVID is over, they'll be back taking bus trips. They have a patio, they're all covered. It's very clean. They have studio apartments, they did have a kitchenette. They have some residents doing little crafts.

I went and it was set up pretty well; it was as good as the other one we visited, but it wasn't as clean. The staff was very informative and pleasant to talk to. They have weekly activities. Every month they go with different themes -- like this month is "Hawaii," and they plan all the activities around that theme.

I toured and it was very nice. The people and the employees were extremely nice, informative, and welcoming to my mom and me. They showed us the entire assisted living facility and everything available from the activities to physical therapy and occupational therapy. All of those services were going to be available to her. It was very inclusive and it was a nice tour. They have patios and garden areas. They have a third-party hairstylist, a hairdresser that comes in for all of the residents. They have a little walking club, the residents get together and take a walk outside around the patios. They have an activities department and areas where the residents get together and enjoy each other's company, maybe for music or whatever the case might be. The place is pretty nice.

It was very quick to get my dad in. They worked very well with the VA in getting the process going. He does not like it there, but I don't know if it's just because it's all new; so I'm having a hard time. I know that they are very consistent with sticking to the rules of making sure his medication is supplied like it's supposed to be. They're doing good at that. He said the food is great. He's only been there a little over a week. His room is small. There's not much to it, just a closet, a window with a ledge, and just a small bathroom. It's very basic. It fits his bed, a chair, and TV. There's nothing fancy. There's a little box for his phone or wallet if he's out of his room. He's in level three assisted living, and they have different levels. I know they have bingo and a place for physical therapy. I've been in to the office in the front and his room, but they haven't taken me back to look at the rest of it. All I know is what was on their website. The only thing I can remember is bingo, and they have some TVs around in the hallways. My father hasn't done anything. He's complained about not cleaning his room, and they're supposed to clean once a week. He loves the food. It's such an expensive thing. The front is landscaped nicely. They're putting a new road next door, so there's all this construction off to the side (which isn't their fault). When you walk in, it's welcoming. There's usually no one in there when you walk in, but it's clean. It smells like a care facility.

It was very nice. I know nothing about the food because it was strictly a walk-through tour. The location was the main reason I didn't choose it. Everybody was very nice. They gave me pamphlets. It was before the pandemic. They gave me plenty of information, basic pricing, and a walk-through tour. We got to see a one-bedroom. We didn't see or do anything, but they had a calendar of activities. It was a very attractive facility.

We were really impressed with the staff, the programs, and the common areas. The rooms were quite small, but everything else was so impressive. They were setting up to have square dancers come in for the residents when we were there. They had bingo and puzzles. They had a pretty robust calendar of activities. They had a lot of good outdoor courtyard spaces. They also had lots of houseplants in the windows lining the hallways. They did a good job of bringing the outside in. The dining area looked nice. They had some areas, which visiting family members could use for eating a meal together. We were very pleased with their memory care.

My mom wasn’t that impressed with this community. They were very polite and very nice, but she wasn’t that interested in the rooms. They weren’t really apartments. They were just like little boxes, and they were too confined, too tiny. For my mom coming from a big home and going into a small room, it didn’t work for her. The staff was very informative. They were very clear about what kind of schedule they had their residents on and what they offered. They let us know exactly how they work there. They had a spa there or a hot tub, a beautician, and a barber shop. They serve 3 meals a day. The visit was informative. It let me know where she was standing and what she really wanted.

They were remodeling, and I guess it would be nice when it’s done. It’s not real big inside. We just did a quick tour; we checked out the dining area, and it was alright. The grounds weren’t too bad.

We were lucky enough to find a bed in this community. That's the one my husband has been in since late May. It is a fine, fine place. The staff there is very well trained on how to redirect dementia patients. My husband is happy there. He has a sense of humor, he is able to walk, and he is fun to be around because he is a pleasant person. He is doing very, very well here. They go out every Thursday to lunch in a little bus, they play games, they dance, and they have parties. It is a totally different kind of a place. The staff is very highly professional and highly trained in the world of dementia. They have an assisted living facility as well, so when you go in, there are a lot of people that live there that are not necessarily ill. They have about 15 beds in the secure dementia unit that is set in the back of the facility. It has a nice courtyard, and the rooms are nice. The girls there are so well trained on how to redirect and treat the patients. They're wonderful. My husband is not on nearly the amount of drugs that he was on when he was in the other facility. Food is OK. When he came out from the other facility, he was 149 pounds, so he was down 50 pounds. However, he is gradually gaining it back because they are giving him double servings.

I excluded this community because my initial observation is that they were a little disorganized. The marketing director had a hectic day. The major reason why I excluded them was that we had to go through downtown Hagerstown and the traffic was bad, I just didn't like it. With regards to cleanliness of the place, it looked adequate to me. They were very pleasant, but it just seemed a little bit disorganized. It may have been just a bad day for them. They did have activities as well. I was satisfied with that. There were a couple of common areas there.

We toured and we found out that they offered shared room and we felt that it wouldn’t be a good fit for my mom. The staff all seemed very friendly and very interested in trying to keep the residents engaged in conversations. They also do different things and they were all very good. The location of this facility is a little bit closer to the business area than the rest of the facilities we've looked into.

It was nice. They had a care unit for Alzheimer's and dementia, which my mom had. I think a lot of people enjoyed it there. They had single and shared rooms. Some rooms had kitchen and some didn't. They had a lot of activities. The lady who showed me around was very energetic. She knew everybody and their family members. She truly seemed to actually care about the people.

I visited and I didn't like it. I felt that it wasn't as clean as it could be. When I walked around the place, I look at the corners and the common areas, the hallways just to see the accumulations and the conscientiousness of the area. I went to their restroom and there's just kind of lacking. I got the impression that there are activities there because I can see a calendar of activities. The residents are very friendly and they seem to enjoy being there. It seems like there is an interaction between the staff and residents.
