"The rooms at Bonaventure were extremely large, and we were quite impressed with the facility. It’s brand new. We did not eat there, though. The price was quite a bargain. They had activities going. You get one meal a day, and they had a complete kitchen with standard steel appliances and granite counter tops. The living room was really big, and there were little patios. I didn’t like the location on Hall Boulevard without any real trees or outdoor areas. If you need assisted care, you have to move to the other end of the building. "

"This was the facility where my mom was at before she passed away. We chose this place because it's convenient to where I live so it's easy for me to get to. The people who worked there were all very friendly and kind and went out of their way to make us comfortable. I really like the people who worked there a lot. The rooms are very nice. Our room was spacious and you could choose different sizes. Their dining room is very nice looking and it’s comfortable. They serve variety of food and seemed like good cooking."

"My husband is here. I liked the place. I don’t have any mixed feelings about it at all. He’s very well taken care of. He’s in such bad shape that there’s nothing more that can be done for him other than what they do, and they always have things going to keep their minds going. "

"My mother has been in Oswego Place for a month and a half now. Everything seems to be top notch. It is a solid community and satisfactory for us. There are activities every day. I think the staff members are adequate. My mother seems to be doing well there."

"We had mom at Edgewood Point for a couple of weeks only, but it was a wonderful place. They seemed to be very good about caring for people and it was a nice and clean facility. They treated mom very well and even though she wasn’t thrilled to be there, they still tried to work very well with her. Her room was nice. Mom was able to participate in a lot of things even for her short stay. We were not able to eat there, but mom seemed to like it because she was able to eat all the food that was given to her. "

"My mom is ready to go into Prestige Riverwood. The place was clean and welcoming. I met several people, and they were all friendly and helpful. Several residents were walking about, and actually some were taking strolls outside. The menu looked good. The facility looked good and homey. The apartment was empty, but it will look homey when she gets in there. They have a beauty salon; it hasn't been open because of COVID, but it will eventually. They also have an entertainment area."

"Markham House is a very lovely place. It has nice landscaping, it's pleasant inside, and the people seem very happy. It's half a mile from where we live. We had lunch there and the food was excellent. They don't just serve lunch, but you can order off of a menu. My husband is gluten intolerant, and so he has to be really careful with what he eats. But he knows enough about it by now after 35 years. The staff we're in touch with were very nice. We know one of the nurses there personally for years. But everybody seems very pleasant, nice and cooperative, and helpful as far as answering questions. We asked for an apartment. The reason we haven't moved in yet is because there were no apartments and they only had a studio. There was nothing available at that time. So we're waiting for an opening. "

"This facility, which offers both independent and assisted living, has recently been taken over by Emeritus. It's located in a valley, right next to Meridian Park Hospital, which has a good reputation in the area. There are 104 apartments. Residents can come in either as independent living or assisted living"”and a big benefit is they don't have to move if they need more care. The living units are rather small. Aesthetically, there is the usual corporate faux nice furniture and standard-issue paintings. It's clean, but looks like it's been used rather hard"”with smudges and knicks on the walls. But that's the most negative thing about the place. Residents seem to be out and about and to interact with one another easily. They congregate in the dining area and game room"”and they look happy. There are many specific activities offered"”including an art studio with sessions led by an art teacher and trips out into the community and a community garden. The program is rich and well organized. The dining room is open all day, so meals need not be eaten at any specific times. Four or five alternatives to the entrees choices are offered daily. The caregivers seem calm and competent and there seem to be a sufficient number of them. The price is reasonable"”$2,495 for a one-bedroom, single occupancy; an additional $500 for another person. There is a service plan, with a point system for assisted living"”more cost if more care is needed. There is an initial community fee of $1,000, but housing is available month-to-month. "

"Sellwood Senior Living is the best I've seen in the area. Things that impressed me is when I walked in, they have a sign on the receiving guest that said, 'Welcome Robert,' and they had some fresh baked cookies made for me in a bag. I liked the above-and-beyond service just from that. Everyone was really friendly, and the building was immaculate. I saw the menu. I didn't try their food, other than the cookies they made me, and those were the best cookies I think I've ever had. I just glanced at their activities because my sister probably won't be doing most of them, but they had a huge calendar and it looked like numerous activities of all different types going on every day. I didn't pay attention, but it looked like they offered a lot."

"Homewood Heights Assisted Living Community seemed nice. I didn't see any activities going on or anything, but that place did have a nice feel to it. It was my favorite place. The common spaces and the dining area were nice. I didn't interact with the staff or see them working that much, other than the woman who was giving me the tour and she was very nice. The rooms were nice and everything was really clean."

"Brookdale Wilsonville was very spacious, clean, and inviting. I actually did eat there a couple of different times, and the food was quite good. The staff was very, very nice and helpful. My mother-in-law was in their independent living. It was really great. It was a very nice place. They had lots of activities for my mother-in-law. They did bus outings. They went shopping, and they did a really good job with that."

"I visited the independent living community of Clearwater Beaverton, and I will be moving into a 2-bedroom apartment there. It was $700 cheaper than the other facility I looked at, and everybody was just so friendly. The people I sat with and had lunch with have been very nice. Everybody seems to like the place really well, and there were no complaints. I wanted the 2-bedroom apartment because my house is almost 3000 square feet, and there's a lot of stuff I've collected, so I liked the size of the unit. I love the courtyard, too. They have a lot of activities there, and I thought that would be interesting. I also have a deck that is kind of enclosed. It's not on the outside of the building, but just bolted onto the side, and has a door out onto it from the bedroom. I like that it's covered, and my things won't go flying off the side of a building if it gets stormy. I think they said that nobody's used that room before. It's brand new, so that'll be nice. The sink faces the window that looks outside near the deck. It has a raised counter there, so I could put stools instead of a dining room table because I didn't want to take up more space in the living room, which is not that big. You come in and there's a kitchen and a place where you could put your dining room table and living room. I like that a lot. I liked that it has a bath and a half. I also like that one wall is painted in a very nice soft green. I just don't have anything that I'm worried about. They also have covered parking if I want it. Everything seems to be taken care of, and I'm very pleased. There are a lot of activities there. There's somebody there that quilts, and I also wanted to do yoga, and they've got that. The food was good. There are lots of choices that you can eat, and it's two meals a day, which is fine. I could also have my cat there."

"I went here. It's small, intimate, and beautiful. It's in a great neighborhood with lots to do within relatively easy walking distance. The staff who accommodated me was great. Melissa was incredible. She took lots of time with my dad and helped put him at ease and asked lots of questions. She was wonderful."

"Mom is at MorningStar at Laurelhurst. It is very clean. Most of the caregivers are very caring and loving. They enjoy what they do and care for the residents. There were a few issues at the beginning, but things are better now. No place is perfect. I was given a couple of opportunities to have a meal there, and the food is always very fresh because the memory care patients are always served first. It's nutritious and they have a really good chef. There's a good variety. There are a lot of coloring activities (they have adult coloring books). They also play music and then have movies after dinner. They have other activities that I noticed on the board, like going for a walk and trivia things, but Mom's not interested in any of that stuff. She's very picky. She's always just sitting there, totally bored."

"My husband just moved in. Everything seems to be going pretty good. They were gonna transfer him at one point to another room, to a studio, and that took a little longer than what we expected, but they had some other people to move him in. I think they're pretty good. I didn't get to go into the facility because everything was shut down, but we talked, and she showed me a sketching of the rooms that they had, and then she walked me around. I could look in the window and see the room, and we went outside. She also told me that there were hummingbirds around. So I brought a stake, and they put that up in front of the window, and I brought up a hummingbird feeder, and they filled it and put it up, so he could watch the hummingbirds; I thought that was so sweet. The food is fine. He hasn't complained a bit, and he loves food. They even allow pets after this opens up, but they do have some restrictions, so I can take our dog up there too, so that's a plus. They do have activities. They have bingo and exercises. I think it's a little expensive, that my husband needs extra care, so I have to pay extra for that, and it's quite a bit."

"My Mother was only there for 5 weeks, before passing away, but the staff at iHome Care took such good care of her and were so supportive to me during her end of life stages. Together with hospice services my Mom had a peaceful passing. In the short time I got to know so many of the caregivers by name and they loved my Mom. Even the administrator, Jordan came and checked in on my Mom though I know he had a busy schedule. It is such a caring and loving environment. I'm so glad I found this place. No activities during the pandemic but I understand they will resume activities in the future. "
