My mother was a resident a few years ago in the memory unit. She was a difficult resident because she had always been in control of everything all of her life. When my father and I visited she would throw tantrums when we left. She simply couldn't understand that my father could no longer take care of her by himself at home any longer. The staff was really amazing. They let us visit and handled mom, with love and grace, when we had to leave. It was difficult. The staff was always helpful and kind to us. I live out of state and called nearly daily at first to check on my mom. They always were helpful and patient. The director of the unit was particularly good to me. We ended up arranging hospice care in the unit at the urging of the director, because she knew that doing it ourselves at home would be horrible. As difficult as it was, it was the right thing to do. I highly recommend Kingston. Oh, and my aunt lived in the apartments too, which were very nice.

I liked the size of the one-bedroom apartment and the price at Kingston Residence Of Marion. I like the fact that it is truly independent living. I could come and go and live as I please. The staff was tremendous and very lovely. She answered all my questions. She could not have been nicer. I talked to other people there who said the food was good. The facility was very nice and lovely. The apartments were private. They allow my pets. The community areas are nice. The atmosphere was quiet, friendly, and homey. The apartments were large and good-sized.

We liked the different room level availability at Kingston Residence of Marion, and the reputation they have for the quality of food. The rooms were very well maintained and very nice, and the housekeeping staff does a good job of taking care of the rooms. We've tried the food and it was high quality. They have a community-style dining area, like a restaurant, and it's very, very clean and organized. They have many activities too. They have craft areas, entertainment areas where entertainers come to perform, an exercise program area, a chapel for Sunday services, and snacks available around the clock.

My father (now deceased) and mother moved to Kingston in January 2016. Our experience with Kingston has been very positive. As mentioned in other reviews, the facility itself is not the newest, but it is kept in good repair. Any complaints are addressed swiftly by the maintenance staff. What really matters is the care, and this is top-notch. All employees from the cleaning staff to the director go the extra mile to make sure residents are happy, safe, and well cared for. During the difficult time before my father's death, the Kingston staff coordinated seamlessly with hospice to make him and us as comfortable as possible. My mother now lives at Kingston alone, and it gives me peace of mind to know that she is cared for by people who know her and look out for her. If you are looking for a place where the staff really cares, Kingston is for you.

My mother has been a resident of Kingston Residence of Marion since May 2017. Since her initial status as respite, we have moved her into Kingston as a resident sharing a suite with one other resident. Mom has had loving, professional and friendly care. The nursing staff is quick to respond to her needs and available to me whenever I have a question. The office staff, is very positive and helpful. The care assistants are friendly and professional. It is convenient to have access to an "in house" OT and PT business, Genesis Rehab Services. The staff at Genesis has be helpful in getting my mom strong enough to walk on her own. The laundry, cleaning and dinning room staff are very friendly and helpful. Kingston Residence of Marion has been a positive place for mom to call "home".

During my family's search for a facility for our mother, we visited many places and talked with the directors of all we visited, Kingston was sold to us as the best care for our mother. At first we were very pleased with her care, but as time rolls on, we have many complaints that go unresolved on an ongoing basis. Many issues with medication security that went on for months such as being unsecured for anyone to get into, no documentation in the rooms of meds given and when, missed doses of meds because none of the nurses carried flow sheets when doing rounds, no hand washing between rooms etc. these have mostly been resolved. Laundry can take up to 6 days to be returned to the resident with many things missing or the wrong resident's laundry going to the wrong room. Wrinkled and damaged clothes at an ongoing basis even after many complaints. A lot of seemingly small things that go on and on without correction that you don't think should be happening at over $4000.00 a month. Things like leaving wheelchairs sitting where they are a tripping hazard or leaving walkers out of reach of the resident. Most of the staff and aides are pleasant and mom seems happy, but our family is less than pleased with Kingston. Buyer beware. Do your homework.

The people in Kingston were really nice, but it was an older building and it didn’t seem quite as clean. The apartments, as they call it, are really kind of far from everything like the nurses’ station and the dining room. The rooms were comparable to the other place we chose.

I visited Kingston Residence to do Bible study. The atmosphere was bright and cheery. It was big and had open spaces. The rooms were nice. The staff seemed pleasant. The food served was like in restaurants. But it was a little costly.

My Aunt and Uncle had been married for 60 years and were soul mates. After my uncle passed away, Aunt Dorothy's health was declining. She seemed depressed, wasn't eating properly or taking care of herself. She moved into Kingston in May of 2011. We have seen her have a new lease on life. She looks better than she has for years. She is getting involved in activities, going out on weekly trips, has hair and nails done every week and seems much happier. One day she was even participating in the exercise class. Kingston gave us the peace of mind that her later years don't have to be filled with depression, loneliness and sadness. With the 24 hour nursing staff at Kingston, we sleep better knowing that she is safe and sound. Thanks Kingston for the caring staff, delicious food and awesome activities.
