"Dunbar Center has been very good to my mom. She's had very good care. The whole place is very clean and she's very comfortable in her room. She's having physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. She's been to the dining area a few times. One day some of the employees were dressed up like in their Christmas costumes, and they had their dogs dressed. Then they had this little parade in all the halls and my mom really enjoyed that. The only thing is sometimes when she turns on her call light, it's a long time before they come."

"I stayed at Cedar Ridge. It was an absolute joke. That place needs to be put out of business. Please don't recommend anybody go there. It's filthy. They do an evaluation emotionally, mentally, physically. I'm thinking I'm going to a place that has an emphasis on physical therapy. While that's got a certain level of impact, I soon found out that they are more of a nursing home and many of these people are at an end-of-life situation. They belong in a nursing home, but either I should have been in another place or they should've been in another place. You have, especially women, going about their personal business there with baby strollers pushing Barbie dolls around the facility. Then you have a person like me passing them up in the hallway, which I'm there for physical therapy. I'm not at end-of-life. I'm not even close to it. I'm trying to get my body back in shape again after surgery. I go to physical therapy and the main thing I'm trying to work on is my left leg. I go to physical therapy, at least the first day, and then I get a phone call saying that I've been asked to leave. I called for a meeting and they said that the reason I've been asked to leave was because I could walk 300 feet with no problem. Yes, I was walking 300 feet with a walker, but it was like I'm walking 300 feet with the feeling of having a bullet in my left hip. I just came out of surgery and they're telling me I'm OK, that I can go home. I said, just because I walk down the hall 300 feet using a walker doesn't mean I'm OK. I'm not OK. I gave that physical therapy lady an earful. I told her, "I disagree with your assessment." I put in an appeal so I could stay longer. It was rejected because of the insurance company, because of the way this lady filled out that report. It was flat out wrong. They told me to leave. I let them know I've got special dietary needs because I'm a cancer survivor. The first time I had breakfast, it was like a bunch of eggs with some cheese on it and a piece of bread. That was it. There's nothing else. There's no coffee. There's no orange juice. I wanted a normal breakfast, then I would have to ask for it. The cooks there were nice enough to come to my room and say, "You tell us what you want, we'll be more than happy to make it." The first time they tried, it got lost. Breakfast got lost. One out of six or seven times I asked for this nice breakfast, I received it once. The other times, the food was just terrible. If I were a supervisor over the whole place, I'd make huge changes. There was one lady in particular who was really good. The rest of the staff was one star."

"My experience with Edgewood Summit was good. It's very clean, except that they allow people to smoke. The food is fair, and the staff is excellent. There's a salon, exercise room, and activities, like bingo, corn hole, golf putting, dances, and so on."

"My wife was at Complete Care at Oak Ridge. She was in rehab there for three weeks. I think they were very understaffed. My wife pushed her light on, and it might have been an hour and a half before they came in and checked on her. I wasn't too happy about that. Their communication wasn't very good either. They told me they were going to give her a COVID and a flu shot, but I had to call them to find out if they gave them to her. Nobody told me they gave them to her. I wasn't too happy about that, too. The social manager was a pretty nice guy, and he was very helpful. My wife's room was a private room, and it was pretty nice. In the first room she had, the commode kept stopping up, so they had to move her. I finally just told them, 'We're not going to call a plumber. We are going to move her. Put her in a room.' Because she broke her hip, she didn't participate in any activities. They offered activities. They had other stuff, and it was a pretty nice nursing home."

"My mother was moved to Stonerise Charleston for rehab. The facility is extremely nice. It's understaffed, but everywhere is understaffed at this point. There's just not enough staff to go around. She was in another skilled facility in Charleston previously, in comparison, this is more like an upscale hotel. She has her own private room, private TV, private bathroom, and it's all updated. It's a very nice facility. My mom had eaten the food and she's very picky. Right now because they're on lockdown, they're keeping them all in their rooms. The insurance is paying for the 20 days. Right now, no visitors are allowed and they're not doing any activities, they only let them eat in the dining room. As far as the communication, it's pretty poor. I have heard that they have a great outcome as far as their therapy and getting people back where they were. That was one of the main reasons why we chose to put her there."

"My sister was at the St. Mary’s Hospital in their rehab section. The care was good. St. Mary’s is a good place. My sister seemed to be enjoying herself when I went down there on the day she was released. She was having lunch then, and she said the food was really good. They were very caring. They actually asked me and my niece if we wanted to have lunch too, and they were going to bring us some plates for lunch. To me, it looked just like any hospital rooms, and it was clean. She said she was doing well, and they continued the therapy after she went home."

"While there are things that I'm sure could be better, overall I find this facility to be okay! I have had a few miss communications but for the most part they always call when issues need to be addressed or my mother has had some sort of an accident. The nursing staff on the 4th floor has always been very accommodating to my mother's needs and any questions or concerns that I have had. I have visited many other facilities over the years and as far as I'm concerned this facility meets my mothers needs. The health care industry is a very stressful and under appreciated and while I realize we all want our loved ones to be properly taken care of, we also need to remember to thank those who take care of our loved ones! It does go a long way! "

"I never wanted to put my mom in a nursing home, fought it for years… when she could no longer take care of herself we chose Heritage Center. She was on the TCU floor- I found it to be surprisingly clean. Her room was a little small but they moved her to a much larger room as soon as one came available. She quickly made friends with her roommates and fell in love with all the staff she came in contact with. I was finally able to sleep at night knowing that my mom was both happy and safe in her new surroundings… she spent the last months of her life with her Heritage family and for the love they showed her I will be eternally grateful…"

"The facility was beautiful when I walked in the staff was nice and caring to me and my family. The staff answered all my questions promptly as they was giving us a tour of the facility. The patients looked nice from what I could see. I would recommend Marmet to other people. "

"My father went to Arbors at Gallipolis. The overall experience was very good, they have an excellent social worker there. Of course we couldn't go in and see him because of COVID, so he was kind of lost on his own, but the nurses and all were very helpful. We were very pleased with it. I have three siblings and there were no complaints by anybody about it. I did not go there because I'm in Florida, but I have two sisters that live about there and at the very end when he was dying they let them go in and be with him, and they didn't have any problem with the facilities at all seeing him at that point. Dad wasn't really eating. They complain about the food all the time anyway, but he never complained, but I don't think he really even ate hardly anything the last several days."

"My mom was in Mountain View Care Center for rehab. It was clean, and the food was good. The people were very nice to my mother. We were very pleased. There wasn't always somebody to feed her. She can't see, so it's hard for her to eat on her own. The food was great, though. It was paid for with her insurance. They were so busy, and it was hard for them to sit and help my mommy. We always make sure we were there, though. I know somebody was there to cut hair and such. People would sit out front. They also have a church service and such, but she wasn't able to participate."

"My friend is at Wayne Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. They deemed last Friday that he cannot continue on with therapy anymore. He has reached his plateau, but the most important part is his blood pressure drops when they're doing therapy in the mornings, and they're afraid that would cause more of a problem than what it would be worth. So, they had to discontinue the therapy he was receiving, and that stops his Medicare, too, because he's not been able to receive the therapy anymore. They've always been helpful, and they keep me pretty much informed of his condition. If I have questions, they usually answer in a timely manner. I know that he was a little aggravated with them because he still had at least three more weeks left of what his Medicare would have paid for. They had stopped it about three weeks early, and that caused him to have to pay $400 a day out of pocket, and he got upset at that. They're professionals, and I assume that they did it based on professional reasoning (and they did, the way that I've had it explained to me). We were just hoping we would be able to get that other three weeks in and then get approved for Medicaid in April. It's nothing that can be helped, but overall I'm happy with that they've done. They've treated him very well. I have not seen any of the rooms because of COVID. They've only started visitations back up in the last three weeks, and I was able to get in and see him for a thirty-minute visit. It went by very quickly, but I understand under the circumstances they have to accommodate everybody. I can't say too much about the facility itself, but what I've seen I thought was great. They have an activity room, but I don't know what was offered in there. They've always been kind to me, and they keep me informed. Just last night at nine o'clock, they called to notify me of a condition that continues to plague him. They were just providing me with the information and wanting to make sure that I agreed with what the doctor was wanting to do, just as the other times before that they did that. I'm limited to the number of employees that I've been able to talk to. I have talked to a lot of them, but not all of them."
