"My sister-in-law has moved into Angel's Touch Care Home. We chose this place because of recommendations. Overall, it's excellent. I like the care given to her, the food, and all the personal attention she gets. The staff was excellent. The facility is very nice. It's clean and decorated nicely as if you're living at home. They will take them out and do different trips, like a field trip, but the patients that are there right now are bedfast, so they don't go anywhere. They have a family room that has a large screen TV with lift chairs that they can go into and mingle with if they want to. But it's a maximum of three patients in this personal care home."

"Dream Home is only about six miles from my house, and it is much cheaper where my husband was before. He is only been out there for about three weeks now, but so far I am very pleased with the way the staff acts and how they take good care of him. They are very friendly. He is in a semi-private room, and it is really nice. It has a refrigerator, television, telephone, and everything he needs right there. They only have about ten patients, they keep them after lunch, and they play cards. Then they have ministers come in and have services. The activities are fine, but my husband is unable to participate. It is very clean, and I like it because it is close to me. I am still able to drive, so I can still go out there to see him. I got it mainly because it is close to home. Everything is good but for improvement they don't have a doctor that comes in once a month and stuff like that. It is not like a nursing home that has all the nurses and nursing aides all the way around. This is just an assisted living home, but for assisted living, it is great. The nurses are always there, and they won't even let me as much as take him to the bathroom. They do everything for him. "

"This facility is like most others of its ilk. High cost for low quality. The nursing staff of this and all nursing/post hospital care facilities are very much under-educated. The "nursing staff" are really just LPNs-9 month trained individuals with limited education. An LPN is a person who has gone to a technical school to learn HOW to do something but not why or what. LPNs have been entrusted to jobs that other healthcare staff are forced to have degrees for. The respiratory therapy services are practically non-exhistent, the therapist shows up in high heels, mini skirts, covered in cologne while she spends here time at the nurses desk socializing and telling tales of her "drinking" escapades. She is quite baldy in her speech. IF she shows up in your room it is to do nothing or to share infection. The doctors rarely show, patients are at the mercy of limited educated PAs. The staff have no quelms about telling you how wrong you are or just basically treating you like you do not exist. A call light is an indication for staff to run the other way. One of 20 people on the floor may have sympathy enough to answer a call light. LPNs have been turned loose to give medications, work with artificial airways, suction people, etc. I would never put a family member in any of these horrid facilities. I was there to visit a friend, his family is trying desperately to get him out. Many in the facilities are practically held hostage by the healthcare system and insurances. "

"I toured English Meadows Teays Valley, and it's the place that I liked the most. I liked that there was a flat rate or flat fee, and there were no add-ons as far as the level of care. I like how they assessed different levels of care to different individuals, depending on what needed to be done, so that was very nice. I found the place to be the right size, and it seemed to be very clean and new. I went to the memory care unit as well, and that seemed very nice and clean also, and it seems like the patients were being very well taken care of. The person who was supposed to be giving the tour, the director, was out, so somebody was filling in. He was very knowledgeable in telling me that both my parents were getting a $500 discount a month, and in answering my questions. I saw an activities calendar, so they have activities for the individuals. They had a courtyard, a salon, and physical therapy on-site."

"Sweetbriar was nice, pretty, and clean. The staff was more than helpful, answered questions, and made follow up phone calls. The dining area was nice."

"I just can not describe the wonderful and loving care this place offers. They make you feel welcome and part of their family. My aunt just loves it here. The devotion of care that the staff gives to each resident is simply amazing. Thank you for the personal care of my loved one. "

"My husband is in Braley Care Homes right now. The staff is very helpful. They are friendly, and they take very good care of him. The rooms are just like two regular bedrooms, but very comfortable. The food is great. It is home cooked. The dining room is fine and big. They have activities like balloon toss, and they have group activities Mondays through Fridays for the residents. They have an activities director. I like that it is a dementia-Alzheimer's unit, and it is like a home. The residents are free to go into their bedroom, or they can just walk around out in the living area. They are not expected to stay in their rooms all the time. "

"Rooms were clean and comfortable for my mom. The staff was friendly and always busy. Mom enjoyed bingo night and the children's choir that came to sing."

"I am living in a retirement home called The Edgewood Summit. Right now, it's atypical due to the COVID virus, but they are supportive and very helpful here. They have 24-hour nursing and a physician available. The staff is very friendly, they're very cooperative, very helpful, and I really don't have anything bad to say about them. They have activities all the time. They also have movies and educational programs. They're very neat and very cooperative. If you have any problems, they come and take care of it right away. The community is close to the mall and Edgewood Country Club."

"I stayed at Cedar Ridge. It was an absolute joke. That place needs to be put out of business. Please don't recommend anybody go there. It's filthy. They do an evaluation emotionally, mentally, physically. I'm thinking I'm going to a place that has an emphasis on physical therapy. While that's got a certain level of impact, I soon found out that they are more of a nursing home and many of these people are at an end-of-life situation. They belong in a nursing home, but either I should have been in another place or they should've been in another place. You have, especially women, going about their personal business there with baby strollers pushing Barbie dolls around the facility. Then you have a person like me passing them up in the hallway, which I'm there for physical therapy. I'm not at end-of-life. I'm not even close to it. I'm trying to get my body back in shape again after surgery. I go to physical therapy and the main thing I'm trying to work on is my left leg. I go to physical therapy, at least the first day, and then I get a phone call saying that I've been asked to leave. I called for a meeting and they said that the reason I've been asked to leave was because I could walk 300 feet with no problem. Yes, I was walking 300 feet with a walker, but it was like I'm walking 300 feet with the feeling of having a bullet in my left hip. I just came out of surgery and they're telling me I'm OK, that I can go home. I said, just because I walk down the hall 300 feet using a walker doesn't mean I'm OK. I'm not OK. I gave that physical therapy lady an earful. I told her, "I disagree with your assessment." I put in an appeal so I could stay longer. It was rejected because of the insurance company, because of the way this lady filled out that report. It was flat out wrong. They told me to leave. I let them know I've got special dietary needs because I'm a cancer survivor. The first time I had breakfast, it was like a bunch of eggs with some cheese on it and a piece of bread. That was it. There's nothing else. There's no coffee. There's no orange juice. I wanted a normal breakfast, then I would have to ask for it. The cooks there were nice enough to come to my room and say, "You tell us what you want, we'll be more than happy to make it." The first time they tried, it got lost. Breakfast got lost. One out of six or seven times I asked for this nice breakfast, I received it once. The other times, the food was just terrible. If I were a supervisor over the whole place, I'd make huge changes. There was one lady in particular who was really good. The rest of the staff was one star."

"Midland Meadows is a friendly, cheerful place to visit. You are greeted at the door with a smile and made to feel welcomed there. They have professional staff on hand to meet the residents needs. The residents are cared for with the hightest of expectations. The staff and resident ratio meets or probably beats the state requirement. The residents has their laundry cleaned by staff hired just for laundry. They also have a staff for their meals. They have staff for each area the resident needs. They offer Amap staff, alone with a team of excellent resident aids. The Aids seems to be caring and takes pride in caring for the residents. They also offer activities for the residents. The residents at Midland Meadows are not treated as if they are just there to die. That is the most thing I found interesting on my visit there. All residents are treated with care and respect. All doors are locked at all times to prevent the residents from wondering off. They also have a van so the residents can go to the local library, mall and other places. They are not just locked inside a home. "

"My sister placed her over at Chateau Grove, and that’s where she’s at right now. One Sunday dinner there, it seemed like she had a pretty good dinner. She seems to be doing fine. She has people she can talk to. She seems to like the atmosphere. They have a local church that comes in and pastors and people that come in and sing with them. They have a prayer and a little bit of The Word, and there were several residents in attendance. "
