"I'm currently at Hillview Health Center for rehab. It is a very nice facility. The upkeep is very, very good. The rooms are nice. They have a little gym at the top area here for the rehab part, and it's very nice and up-to-date. They decorate very nicely. Like right now, they decorate for the autumn and also specifically some little Halloween stuff, and they do a super job of it. They have a wonderful staff, from top to bottom. They're very, very patient-oriented and they are largely hometown staff from here in Elizabethton and the surrounding areas. Most patients are from this area, so they have a great rapport with the patients. They are very caring people. When you request assistance for anything, they're right on it. They do a nice job and they are very professional. The nursing staff is very professional, as are the doctors. And the CNAs are very well trained and they do a great job. Food is just like typical institutional food and it's not going to be like dining out in a restaurant. Upstairs, they have more of a permanent population. So, they have activities every day for those folks. I'd participate a couple of times a week when they have a little group exercise thing."

"I toured Hermitage Health and Rehabilitation for my mom. It was a much newer facility than many I've seen. I think that the physical appearance of the place, outside especially, was more attractive than your average place. It is also in a very good location. It's up on a steep hill, so, in wintertime, and you want to go visit somebody there, you need to know how to drive in winter conditions and on a steep hill. Nonetheless, I think it's a very nice place for the residents. Now, the only potential downside or potential negative is that I noticed it was extremely crowded. I just felt like they had a lot of patients. When I visited, it was a time for them to be out socializing and not be in their rooms, so the hallways were full of people. When my mom was moved out of rehab and into long-term care without having applied for Medicaid yet, they kind of stopped helping. I wasn't happy with that. When they thought they were going to have my mom as a resident, they were very nice and very helpful. But when she got moved out of rehab up in the place where she is now in Kentucky, that made it impossible to transfer here under Medicare. And so they just kind of dropped it. They said there's nothing they can do. And I was hoping they'd have been more helpful. The place is not brand new, but it looked new and it looked nice and clean."

"My daddy is a Vietnam Veteran. A very stubborn, strong willed and fiercely independent veteran. He was recently diagnosed with vascular dementia and unable to make good decisions for himself. I work full time and support a family of my own, so I'm not able to take care of my daddy full time. The VA no longer offers long-term care for veterans, so we were forced to move daddy into Ivy Hall. Daddy isn't always the easiest patient to care for. He's not always nice. He is most certainly not tactful. He has tried my patience more than a million times, so I know tending to him can be frustrating. But Ivy Hall has been so kind to daddy, regardless of his mood. They have been a true God-send. Vietnam Veterans are still neglected, especially by the VA/US Government (just wait until someone you know finds out long-term care is just not available to these veterans). But the folks at Ivy Hall have been so very respectful and thankful for daddy's service. A Vietnam Veteran requires an individualized protocol for care. I can't say we've always gotten it right, but we are working as a team to fine tune daddy's care. The point is...they are going above and beyond to accommodate and care for my daddy. I can mention so many names...Tammy, Janelle, Judy, Chris, daddy's nurses (all of them)...the CNA's (Travis), the recreation staff, the therapists. It takes a village. I'm just very thankful for Ivy Hall. "

"I visit the patients at Pine Ridge and this is a great place in my opinion. The rehabilitation staff is one of the best I have seen and they are good at getting injured patients moving on their feet again. They seem to make doing exercise into something fun for the patients and in turn, it keeps them active and vital. I see the nursing staff doing a great job as well. This facility seems like it keeps a focus on getting the patients up and active, which is a welcome change. "

"The main reason why I chose this facility is because they provide rehabilitation service and therapy 7 days a week. And I'm really impressed with their therapist. They are really nice and take good care of my mom. We were looking forward that she'll be out of the facility in 2 weeks time since she is improving every day. I'll definitely recommend this center for those people as well who are looking for rehabilitation service. "

"My mom is at The Waters of Bristol. The room is very nice. It has a fake fireplace. It is very nice, clean and everything. She has a private room. They have a recreation room with games and stuff. I also know they have a very nice dining area. My mom has been there for a couple of weeks now, and she has Medicare helping her with that right now."

"The facility was clean, and there appeared to be plenty of staff. However we visited around 11:30 am and my grandmothers bed pan had not been changed that morning. She had also informed us that she had ask to brush her teeth at 9 am, they told her they would be right back to help her with that. Yet at 11:30 they still had not returned. A few days after we had gotten a call saying that they had to take her back to the hospital because they had lifted her out of her chair and broke her arm and cracked 3 of her ribs. She did have bone cancer so I understand her bones were easy to break. However a facility of this nature should have been better equipped to handle someone with that condition. "

"Erwin Health is an older place. It is setup like a hospital; there’s no carpet and no soft chairs, but it is much more sanitary. They have to be what they called toileted, and they can handle it here at Erwin. They know how to do it. Almost every single day, they have people volunteer to come in and play music, guitars, and sing. Periodically, they have the TV on, but they don’t have more movies on. "

"My mother has been a resident of Wexford House for 10 months. I have been so happy with her care. The staff is caring and treat their residents with so much love and care it is almost like they are family, as a matter of fact they treat most of them as family. I have never made a call for information or help regarding my mother that someone hasn't gotten back to me immediately. It is the cleanest nursing home, I have ever been in.It was the most difficult decision I have ever made to place my mother's care in someone else's hands, but I am at peace knowing they are providing better care of her than I am able to provide at home and I know that she is safe there. I would recommend Wexford House without reservation. "

"All staff does excellent job. Treat patients like family. They have good food. What help would have carts that will keep trays hot. 7 dollar is high for family to afford to get something to eat. The facility is very clea0n and does not smell. The van driver is so friendly, treat people so nice. He does excellent job straping wheel chair in. He does excellent job driving. Lady out front is so nice. Kingsport NHC could set examples how facility should be ran Only major thing lot mattresses need be replaced. Lot them has like big dip in middle. But home office will not approve the facility to order enough to replace them all. "

"A family friend had back surgery and was a resident in this facility after his hospital stay. I cannot express how pleased that I was with everything in the entire stay at Durham-Hensley. This facility is spotless from top to bottom with nothing but the best equipment available to the staff. The physical therapy staff worked with my friend on a daily basis and got him moving around so quickly, it amazed all of us. They did not leave us waiting for any changes in doctors orders or medications because they got it done IMMEDIATELY. None of us were left wondering what the plan of care was for our friend, we were constantly updated on his progress and what was next in the plan. The food was even good in this facility! I honestly cannot sing their praises enough here at Durham-Hensley. If a problem had to be found, it would be that they are located a bit on the rural side, but even that works out nicely with great scenery being out every window. Highly recommend this place to anyone. "
