My father was at this facility after suffering a major stroke and I couldn't have asked for better care that what he got here. The nursing staff were so good to him and treated him with such kindness and respect, yet were very professional at the same time. And the therapist had such patience with him and worked at his speed to get him back into shape. And they didn't treat him like a child with the work they did which was a problem he had before. They were just wonderful to him. The food was very good which was also a big surprise and the facility itself was very beautiful. I will always recommend NHC Johnson City to my family and friends because in my book it's the best around. And as a former caregiver and having seen a lot of different facilities I feel it is the best in the area hands down.

I had several family members who stayed at this facility and received excellent care! My mom had rehab after her surgery for breast cancer and went home in better shape than she was before her surgery! My grandfather stayed there twice and loved it both times! Excellent care and healed the wounds on his legs before he left and he had them for a long time! My great aunt stayed there and received wonderful care staff kept me informed of everything that happened with them and was always kind and compassionate and I would never send my family anywhere else!

I have had several good friends and people I consider family in this facility. I have never seen or had a care issue that the staff did not diligently try to correct. Is this facility perfect? Hardly. Do they provide the best care provided by loving and caring staff? You better believe it! This facility is clean and your nose knows as soon as you walk through the door. The food is good. However, best part of this is facility are the people who love, care and provide for the patients.

Past few months have proven the NHC in Johnson City to be a deplorable rehabilitation/nursing home. I have a friend who’s mom has been a patient there for over a month in total now. She has acquired several wounds inflicted by the CNAs there. The most recent one being exposed flesh from a sponge bath. You heard me. A sponge bath. The CNA was apparently too rough with her and ended up ripping skin off of her arm. She was originally there for physical therapy, but ended up staying longer for the wounds that the CARETAKERS inflicted on her. I strongly suggest you admit your elderly somewhere other than this disgusting, poor excuse for a nursing home.

I haven't really visited any of the areas for senior care., but I have visited a nursing home where my brother was at called NHC. Our overall experience was terrible. There were two nurses that were really good, but there was one nurse that was terrible. She was very rude. She didn't have any bedside manner when it came to the patients. The last day that my brother was in the nursing home, I walked in and found him lifeless in bed. I asked for help, but because I wasn't an immediate family member, she wouldn't come in to check him or help me. All she kept on saying was that his vitals were fine therefore he was doing OK. They got him to the hospital, but he wasn't OK. He was severely dehydrated and had a urinary tract infection and pneumonia. The room was fine. It was in good condition, and it was enough for him. The accommodations were fine. It was just that one problem there. She just didn't have any bedside manners. I did call the corporate office to file a complaint. I think my brother lived seven days after that.

My grandmother was first admitted on the rehab side after suffering a long bout with pneumonia and bronchitis. She improved somewhat, but really needed 24 hour care that we were unable to provide at home. With her not wanting anyone in her home that she did not know, our only option was an assisted living facility. She was moved to the skilled side several months after arriving at NHC and was there for over 2 years. The nursing staff treated her very well and kept the family informed of progress or the need for hospitalizations when needed. She always spoke highly of her nursing staff and her roommate. When she passed away, the staff that normally worked with her did come to the funeral. The care and compassion that the staff showed far exceeded my expectations.
