"We chose Otterbein Union Township for dad because they had full nursing care and they're very accommodating to our needs. They have a courtyard and they've been keeping the place fairly clean. He's using his Medicare benefit right now to pay for it. I think he likes the food, too."

"My wife is in a rehab convalescent home at Batavia Nursing Care Center. She has been staying there for over two years now. She loves it. The staff there is excellent. They all seem to be very caring and everything. She hits a buzzer and they're right there. They take good care of her. They do everything for her. They cut her food up, they use a Hoyer lift to get her in and out of bed, and she has a wheelchair that they push her around in. She seems to like the food, too. She says they give her enough. They have very good maintenance on the buildings, like if the clock is wrong, they fix it. The rooms are excellent. The yards are all cut and clean. There is no garbage going around. They allow pets there. I take my pup in there to my wife and all the attendants and nurses come and look at him and play with him. My wife seems to like activities. They play bingo, horse races, and a few other games. They have dinners like Christmas and Thanksgiving, and stuff for the people and their families. I don't have any complaints about the place."

"I like the fact that The Glen has all levels of care, so it's not just a nursing home. There's independent living, assisted living, a rehab, and then there's the nursing home portion, where my dad is. I think it's a little more lively place because it has a mix of people. They do a really nice job with the activities for the residents and keeping the families updated on the status of their residents. My dad fell once, so and they immediately called my sister who lives there locally. They told her what happened. They continued to monitor him after that. The level of care seems to be very, very good. They pay attention to things. They also have things like a beauty salon, a barbershop, nail salon, physical therapy on site, transportation, and a lot more. It's really nice."

"This facility was very clean and the rooms were very well kept. They are large enough for the people to get around in their wheel chairs or with walkers. They provided meals for the residents and any visitors would pay a small lunch or dinner fee to eat with their loved one. The rehabilitation center and the PT that provided my grandmother with her daily physical therapy were great. She was improving so much that they allowed her to come home a little earlier than she thought. One of the other nice things about the facility is the activities that they provide for the residents. Not only is this a rehab center, but it is also a nursing home. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for either a nursing home or a rehabilitation center for love ones. "My mother entered this facility after a fall, hoping to recover. Instead, she declined rapidly. Once vibrant and outspoken, she became confused and withdrawn. Her oxygen concentrator failed, backup tanks were empty, and nurses delayed responding—even during emergencies. I found her soaked through her bedding, left unattended, and without her necessary medications like Humira. Despite repeatedly telling staff this was not her normal behavior, they showed little urgency. Her breathing worsened, and only after multiple requests did they order a chest X-ray. She contracted Influenza A during her stay and passed away shortly after. This facility was supposed to help her heal. Instead, it failed her completely. I wouldn’t trust them with anyone I love."

"Mom moved to The Anderson. For me, this community's selling point was that they would be able to transition her to Medicaid, so she wouldn't have to move. Their staff is also very attentive, very friendly, and positive. She enjoys their food very much. They have patios, areas with reading material (like a library), and some exercise equipment available. They have an activities director who makes them do several activities each day. It has a very positive and very upbeat atmosphere."

"The tour I had with Forest Hills Healthcare Center was very good. My sister had been there before for rehab and we had a good experience. Her room was very good. The staff was fine, except for the finances. They kept pushing for more money, but still it was a good place. I would choose it if it was OK for me."

"Mount Washington was recommended by the people at the hospital. My mother had a stroke, and when she was ready for release, they suggested Mount Washington. We do not have any complaints at all. My mother is well-taken care of. They monitor her and nothing gets by them. The food is delicious. I see the menu every day, so I know what they are feeding her, and we have not had any problems. She is in a shared room, which is spacious, and they keep it clean. They have activities from morning until night, and she can choose which ones she would like to participate in. Once a month, they have a big birthday party and the birthday girl gets balloons on her wheelchair and a crown on her head, and then they have cake, ice cream, and entertainment. "

" My mother is currently staying here. My mom has dementia and a year ago she was staying with me. She fell a couple times and broke her pelvic bone. The surgery aggravated the dementia and she went downhill pretty fast requiring 24 hour care. She has been in 3 different homes on the east side and when she was still able to convey her thoughts this was the only home where she liked the staff and told me that she knew they cared about her. To me that is far more important than any other factor. I know she is as happy as she can be under these terrifying circumstances. As of 12/5/16 I signed her up for hospice care that works closely with the staff here to improve her care even more and from my observations once again they have come through with flying colors in caring for my mom. "

"I'm staying at SEM Haven. It's excellent care. The building is well kept and the grounds are well kept. There are nurses and aides and they all know their job. They offer meals, and the food is great. There's television, and there's rehab and things like that. My ex and my daughter come out and my other daughter, too, and we play card games and puzzles and we do walking. My room got a restroom, closets, curtains, toilet and tub, and things like that."

"The thing I liked least about Locust Ridge was the location. What I liked was the cleanliness, the care, and the patient interaction with the staff. From what I saw, they were very good, very caring, and very attuned to the patient's needs. Seemed like they wanted to be there. It's an older building, but it's very well kept and very clean."

"The campus is very nice, with lots of green. It looks well kept. The inside is nice, but nothing special. It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. All the staff I encounter were friendly and seemed caring. My grandmother is unfortunately no longer able to function well enough to be able to give her opinion of the care, but she seems to be well taken care of. The rooms themselves leave something to be desired in my opinion. Most of the rooms seem to be 2 beds, and are completely lacking any charm. White walls, white tile floor, white beds, etc. Compared to some of the other nursing homes I've seen, this place seems so sterile and un-homey, which I would consider a definite con if I were the one living there. However, the facility is clean, and the staff seem competent, friendly and caring, which is the most important thing, so overall I would rate it very highly. "
