"We visited The Kenwood in person. We were very happy with it. We chose it more for convenience and familiarity. We lived very close to it and we knew a lot of people that go there for one reason or another. We felt comfortable with that. We like the location and we like the views. As far as the caring goes, it's definitely top of the line. The facility was top of the line and very beautiful. The people were very knowledgeable, caring, and professional. We knew people that lived there, so I have dined there previously. I haven't eaten in their memory care area. I think the menu may be slightly different, but I dined at two different restaurants in the place."

"Harmony at Anderson seemed like a very nice facility. It's clean. I was just concerned about the ratio of caregiver to residents, and they don't accept Medicaid. Everything looked pretty new there."

"Arden Courts was a good place for my mother to live. It was a good environment -- very nice and clean. The staff and the services were good. If I’d ask them something, they would tell me. They were very caring toward the patients. The rooms looked fine, and the menu looked good to me. "

"It is extremely nice. The facilities are beautiful. The grounds are beautiful. The dining area is extremely nice. The staff we met were extremely nice and friendly. I only saw 2 rooms that were like studio rooms. They have a dresser, closet, and space for a TV. They have a theater room and a lot of places to just sit and lounge. Everything is very bright,.The furnishings are relatively new. They have an exercise room with exercise things in it. There's also a salon inside."

"My stepmom is now at Traditions of Deerfield. It's very nice. It's decorated great and very comfy. Everyone has been nice, and because she has Alzheimer's, they are working with her. She has some behavioral issues, too. They call me every day and they let me know how she's doing. The interaction with the staff has been good. It's great. Her room is very bright and comfortable. She has her own bathroom, which she'll need help with, but that's okay because they help her. They do a survey, so you tell them what your loved one used to like to do, and so they try to do fun things around those. They have activities every day. They even take them on outings, but my stepmom has not been out. They have a movie theater that they take them down to. I don't know the staff well, but when I met them, they were very friendly and they offered to help. "

"We really like Evergreen. It feels established like it has been there a long time. It's an old property, but they take pretty good care of it. They foster a sense of belonging. It isn't like an institutional setting, and the people are really nice, so it seesd to be the best setting. I like the history and the setting. The layout seems pretty easy for most of the residents there. They have a variety of rooms. We only saw two different styles of rooms; we ended up putting my mother-in-law in one of the one-bedroom units. The efficiencies and one-room units are too small. They have villas and separate homes near the facility. They have quite a few facilities there. She's in independent living, so they have signups for activities, shuttle service for various things, and you can walk around outside. It's pretty warm, but it's in a very wooded area. It's okay for someone who has the ability to walk. They have two levels on each wing. She's on a lower level that has a patio, which is ideal for her. They have a beauty shop and a gift shop. The move-in went really smoothly, and access to her apartment is really good. The good thing is she can come and go for the most part. Everybody's apartment has a little window and a little inset where you can put a couple of chairs, a bench, or a plant. "

"We chose Mallard Cove Senior Living for my mother because it's very nice and convenient. Everyone seemed happy when we visited. The staff was very nice and competent, willing to help me with anything, and it will be an easy transition. The food was good and the dining room was pretty. They had an outdoor eating area, a theater, exercise facility, a happy hour every night, church services, and field trips."

"I went to Sterling House once, and then I took my father up to see it. Sterling House was neat, clean, and small. They only have 30 semi-beds in there and a lot of older people. The people there were more ill; they were sitting around and were not responsive. All the staff was very nice and very helpful. The rooms are clean and nice-sized. They had three or four different room configurations from very large to small. You could take your furniture in there. The dining room looked nice and clean. They had a kitchen where they prepared all the food. In the spring and summer, they had cookouts, and they showed us the patios. Inside, they had a movie theater with a popcorn machine and some table games. "

"They are very good. As far as I can tell, the staff is great and everybody is wonderful. My mother-in-law has a room there. The place is very clean and only a year old. They always get her out of her room, and they do all kinds of activities in the activity room. My husband and sister-in-law have eaten there, and the food is good. They also have a courtyard that they can go out into when it's warmer, and grow vegetables and flowers there."

"Covington Ladies Home is small and personalized. It's been a lady's home for 125 years. It's a big old mansion, but it's very well kept and updated. It's beautiful and they keep it very clean. The staff is very caring and that's the most important thing. My mom has been there for almost five weeks now. She loves the food. The staff everyone I've dealt with is very friendly and on top of things. They call me for every little thing. The only drawback for a 125-year old building is there are no individual toilets in each room. There are sinks, vanity mirror, but you have to go two doors down for a toilet and shower. I thought that doesn't really bother her or me much. But it would be great if they could get modernized and put in bathrooms in each room. "

"We've decided this facility just down the street from us. It would be like a literally five minute drive for us. And I think out of all the ones we've looked into, we're satisfied with that one. Besides the location, it was very clean and professional. It had a little more modern feel to it. The staff was very polite. This one really makes it feel like it would be home for my mother. It just felt very inviting and comfortable."
