I am/was a resident of this facility

I've been a resident of Pinebrook of Milford for two years now. My experience is pleasant. The facilities here are great. I don't have any problems, and they seem to take care of most everything I ask for. They provide three meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So far everybody I have encountered has been knowledgeable, helpful and easy to get along with. There is a little exercise room and a beauty salon that's independently owned. You can walk around the building to get exercise or the little exercise room that they have provides different pieces of equipment. They provide transportation but you have to let them know ahead of time. You can't hit them with it at the last minute, but most of the time they're accommodating. Today we have a fair of sorts. People have made lots of seasonal decorations and they're selling them. We have somebody giving away apples and oranges. Every Friday, there's happy hour and they try to have someone singing or providing music. They have movies, bingo, volleyball, and entertainment. We've had choirs sing, which was fun. We have church every Sunday or the availability of a Catholic minister that can help with the Catholic people. They have nursing available if you have a question or need some help with something. They do blood pressure regularly, which is good. The service in the dining rooms can be very slow and they need to hire more people, but that's not their fault. They just can't find more people to hire. We've lost a lot of our servers. Most of them are pretty good people though. We have three different dining rooms that they have to cover. One is the main dining room, which I eat in then there's one in memory care, which I don't eat in, and then there's one on the second floor that is upstairs and they don't exactly have a full load of food up there. It's not quite as nice as what's downstairs on the first floor. We go to some really nice restaurants. It is very expensive to live here, however, when you consider taking care of me and feeding me, I think value for the money is probably a five, but I can't compare it with anybody else. I wish the food was better. This place is not perfect, but it is very nice. I live here very nicely. I understand what I can and what I cannot do. They probably have a lot of assisted living people living here with the independent people, which is very confusing to me and then you have probably on the average people dying rather regularly because they're old and have a medical problem. So that's a drawback. This is not a place to come if people that are dying upset you. Communication is always difficult when you have as many people as we do in a building like this.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a resident of Pinebrook of Milford. My experience has been very positive. I have a lovely apartment. It meets all my needs. It's close to the elevator, close to the laundry room, and I have a balcony. In the kitchen area I have a refrigerator and a stove. Our rent is not only for our apartment, we have housekeeping every other week in independent living. I do my own laundry. That's why I'm so glad the laundry room is close to me. You may cook in independent living if you wish to, but we have three meals a day. I choose to go to the dining room. I think the food is good and it's good socialization. There is a community life committee, and we get an activities calendar at the beginning of a month. There's something going on every day. Once a week, we have the option to sign up to go out to lunch to a restaurant in the Cincinnati area. We have a craft afternoon on Mondays. There's bingo, a singing group, a trivia group, and a book club. There's a retention pond in the back which has a fence around, but you can walk around the entire building. It's a good walking path. Outside of the dining room, there is a patio area with chairs and tables. People sit out in the chairs along the sidewalk in the front. There is transportation to doctor's offices and whatever. On a daily basis there are two drivers and they're kept busy all day long. We've had a lot of change in staff, so that's really difficult. We have a fairly new director. I'm very happy with Pinebrook. I have no complaints whatsoever. I find the staff very friendly. I personally think there needs to be a little more staff, like housekeepers, maintenance, or whatever. Personally, I haven't had any problems getting things accomplished. My mother lived in another facility and I think Pinebrook is almost as good as the other facility that my mom was in. I'm very pleased.

Provider Response

Hello Susan, It's wonderful to hear how much you're enjoying your lovely apartment and the convenience it offers. We're glad you appreciate the variety of activities available through our community life committee and that you find the meals in the dining room to be a great way to socialize. Your feedback about the friendly team and the transportation options is invaluable to us. Thank you for sharing your positive experience—it's great to know you're happy at Pinebrook of Milford by StoryPoint Group!

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've been a resident of Pinebrook of Milford for four years now. The positives are the social interfaces with other members of the community and the activities. There's plenty of activities to keep you busy, just about anything you choose to do. They furnish a stove and a refrigerator. I had to provide my own microwave and my own washer and dryer. They provide three meals a day. They have weekly happy hour, chair volleyball, and coffee talks a couple of times a week. There are speakers that come in and provide information to us. There is bingo, card games, Bridge, euchre, movies, and crafts. The staff is very caring and very interested in each person. There's a seated courtyard in the front of the building. There's a patio in the back with seats. There is a small pond in the back with ducks and geese occasionally in them. There are plenty of places to walk if you want to walk. The food is inconsistent. It's never going to satisfy everybody, but there could be significant increase in the quality of the food.

Provider Response

Hello Norman, Thank you for sharing your experience with our community. It’s wonderful to hear that you’ve enjoyed the activities and social connections over the past four years! We’re so glad that events like happy hour and bingo have added to your experience and helped keep our community vibrant. Your feedback about food quality is very important to us. I visited this facility

I went to Pinebrook. It was just okay. It's another one that seemed more like a giant apartment building complex. The layout is decent. I don't know what, if it was my frame of mind when I went in because it's the first one I visited, and I knew. How am I looking forward to moving there? I just was not impressed with it at all. The memory care unit is a separate building, so if one of them went in, the other one would have to walk outside to go visit. And that was not a very good setup there. The rooms were quite small. It was the first one I toured, but I was kind of thrown back by how small they were compared to where my parents were living now. And maybe that's just an unfair comparison, but it just seemed to be a little too small with a studio and a small bedroom off to the side.

I visited this facility

I toured Pinebrook. It was an excellent visit, and very professional. It's a very clean, nice facility. All the amenities, the apartments, those little suits look nice. They had all the safety protocols. They got the services they needed. They had a lot of activities. They had a rec room, a little exercise room, and a library. They had a nice dining area. It was very well done, spacious, and clean. I would love my dad to live there. It's only two miles from where I live, so it's convenient.

I visited this facility

I toured Pinebrook for my mom and dad. It was senior living, but not long-term care, and that's the one thing that wound up making me decide against it. It was also more expensive than what we have chosen for my parent. But it was overall excellent. When you walk in, you would see a living area where people could sit and visit. It was dressed up like a comfortable home. Then you would see the dining room, which was set up like a five-star dining room for the folks. They have a salon for men and women to get their hair and nails taken care of and it was open five days of the seven. The staff did an excellent job of showing us the facilities, what was available, and making sure all of our questions were answered. I do know they have changed chef since then, but I attended an open house about two and a half years ago and the food then was exceptional. They offer shuttle service for those that are in assisted living to go to the grocery stores and things of that nature.

We were greeted at the reception desk at Pinebrook and the woman we had an appointment with came right out. My mom really likes the place. It's a nice place and they have activities. Everything seems to be very close at hand. The rooms are nice and seem to be pretty much on par with everything else in the area size-wise. My mom will have a nice room, with a nice, big bedroom, a nice-sized bathroom, and a living room slash eating and kitchen area. They have an exercise slash therapy area, a general store, a beauty salon, and a library.

I am in Pinebrook. This place is great. The people are very friendly and very helpful. I am in a studio apartment with plenty of room for me. They are just fantastic here. I cannot say enough about that. Their food tastes good. However, for me, the breakfast is too early in the morning. They have a game room, computers, volleyball, and yoga.

My parents are on Pinebrook's assisted living floor. It is wonderful. The nurses are always checking in on them. When my dad’s condition started to deteriorate, they brought hospice in to check on them a couple times a day. They were there 24/7 during the last couple of days. They have all kinds of activities, field trips, a gym, a craft room, and a hair salon. My parents do not participate in the activities, but I know on Thursdays, they always go someplace, like out to lunch or the theater. They do crafts, like the women do flower pot arranging, knitting, and puzzles. They also have a bowling league for Wii bowling. The food is good. Sometimes they have complaints due to the difficulty of chewing things. My mother has difficulty with her teeth while chewing. My mother has three meals a day, including a hot breakfast. The building has continental breakfast and then, two other hot meals a day. They always have a basic menu you can order from like sandwiches, hamburger, soup of the day, and a couple entrees. They really have some good choices.

We chose Pinebrook Retirement Living, and my mom will be moving in next week. We like it because it’s close to her friends and neighborhood. The place is very, very nice. They have a craft room, happy hour, wine tasting, and a beautiful fitness center where she can do her physical therapy. They have a dining room on her floor, so she does not necessarily need to go down to the main dining room. The staff was very informative and answered every question we had. Overall, it’s very nice.

Pinebrook was one of the newer facilities I visited. The rooms were real nice. They showed me both one bedroom and two bedrooms apartments. They had transportation, they had an exercise room, and a nice, big dining area. The staff was real nice, seemed to be real knowledgeable about what she was doing. The residents seemed to be happy and enjoyed what they have there.

I visited this facility

We made two trips to Pinebrook and were very impressed with both the facility and the people we met both times. The facility is relatively new, very tastefully decorated and just a very pleasant place to be. We were able to have lunch on our second visit, and the food was very good. The apartments are quite spacious and I especially appreciated all the safety details in the assisted living units. While we were not able to interact with many of the staff, Aimee was always extremely helpful and willing to answer any question at any time. She is a sweet, caring individual who has truly found her calling. While we were not able to work out any arrangements for moving my father to Pinebrook, I would not hesitate to recommend Pinebrook to anyone who was considering a retirement community for their aging parent.

I visited this facility

My husband and I visited this community twice hoping to move my very independent mother to a location closer to the family. One visit was a last minute phone call and the second was a scheduled appointment and what we saw was the same....a super nice staff and a clean and tastefully decorated building. Very warm and welcoming community. The apartments were the largest we had seen. The bathrooms were my favorite. They were very safe and arranged to allow ample space for mobility. The apartment floor plans were really thought out well. Great location. Pinebrook was our choice but the final decsion was moms and she choose a community in a location that she was most familiar.

I chose Pinebrook for my aunt. What I like most about it are the services and location. The efficiency apartment is much larger here than in the other two places I visited, so I knew she'd be able to take more of her personal belongings with her.

Pinebrook was fantastic. I’m in my 70s, and I think if I needed to go somewhere that’s where I go. The people that worked there were very accommodating and friendly. I just felt the comfort there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom just moved into Pinebrook Retirement Living about six weeks ago. She is still in therapy, so she isn't able to do so much. She is not all that happy yet though. I just called their activity director to make her get out and do more things and stuff. They have crafting, exercise room, and a lot of amenities. Her room is nice. The service in helping her get situated was also good. The people are very friendly to her when she goes down to eat in the dining room. Their dining room is very nice as well. The facility itself is very pretty. Its lobby is beatiful. They do have a lot of services too. They take her to the doctor if she needs a ride. One thing my mother doesn't like is, they drive so fast. Fortunately, the place is in a convenient location where a lot of shopping areas are around it. The one thing that they should improve on is introductions for new residents. They should mix things for the residents when there are new people. It is a way of introducing the new person to the other residents.

We moved my mother into a retirement community called Pinebrook. We chose this place because it was a little bit better location for her and also they provide three meals a day. My mother enjoys the food. She has been there for two months now and overall she is doing fine. They have all kinds of activities to keep their clients occupied like crafts, music nights and movie nights. They also have group trips to a local shopping center or to the drug store. We like that they have free transportation service. The best thing about this place is that my mother doesn't have to cook, clean or grocery shop.

I first visited Pinebrook when my husband and I just "dropped by" one afternoon. Although we didn't give them any advance notice, the staff members were very friendly and went out of their way to show us the facility. At the time, we were looking at retirement options for my elderly parents, and Pinebrook seemed to offer the best services at a reasonable price. They have been residents there since April, and my main regret is that we didn't relocate them sooner, since there are so many social and learning opportunities they could have taken advantage of. The Pinebrook employees are exceptional in their personal contact with the residents, and I highly recommend that interested parties contact Aimee for a personal tour.

My mother has been at Pinebrook almost a year. I truly believe she would not be with us if it were not for living at Pinebrook. She was no longer able to drive and had become depressed and most of her friend had past or did not drive either. Pinebrook offered her a way to make new friends. There are a variety of activities for the residents to take advantage of. The staff are friendly and always speak to the residents using their name. All the staff, including new ones and know the names of the residents, even the new ones. I can't say enough great things about Pinebrook.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother and I visited Pinebrook while she was visiting from Florida. She wanted to visit retirement communities for when she "needed" it in the future. After visiting Pinebrook we went to 6 other facilities. We then went back to Pinebrook for a second look. It was at that time that my mother decided that Pinebrook would be her new home, not in a year or two. Within 2 months she was settled into her new apartment at Pinebrook. She has met so many new friends and the employees treat me as well as her as old friends. Pinebrook's facility is clean, modern, and homey. The staff is so helpful to the residents. She worries about being a burden to me but now she can rely on Pinebrook to transport her to doctors' appointments, shopping, etc. Her apartment is cleaned by professionals and now when I visit, I can just concentrate on spending quality time with my mother.

My mom moved there almost three years ago after living alone in a large home after my father died about seven years ago. While it was very difficult to "talk her into" making the move, she now says that she wishes she had moved there years ago. To say that the Pinebrook staff are incredible is an understatement. It is a smaller community and they make every effort to truly KNOW each resident as an individual. From every angle, my mom seems to have actually "reverse aged" since she has been there. Couldn't offer enough compliments as a very pleased family member.

My mother is at Pinebrook and she couldn't be happier. I never thought I would see my mother live again after my dad died. When my mother made the move into Pinebrook their staff was incredible. They checked on her everyday. They took time to introduce her to new people and helped her make friends. Every time I go and visit my mother everyone that works there says hello and greets me with a smile. They know me as well as my mother and I hear all about how she is doing. I love that Pinebrook is small because I feel like my mother wouldn't of gotten the attention she needed if it was a bigger place. Pinebrook, thank you for giving my mother a reason to get out of bed everyday and keep moving. You all are incredible!
