Nursing Home Communities in Tybee Island, GA

"My wife is currently at Azalealand. So far, I have no problem with it, and it's excellent. The staff is nice, very cooperative and informative, and they treat my wife well. They have activities for the residents there, but she's not capable of doing much right now. They do all kinds of stuff in there and she seems to be satisfied. It's private-owned. It's not owned by a company, but by individuals. A doctor and his wife established it in 1947 and, so far, the family is still involved in it. Her room is the standard expectation. It's more like a hospital room with a hospital-type bed, a television, a place to put your stuff, and it's quite adequate. She's in a wheelchair when she moves around, although she can walk some, and they take care of all that. The staff has been nice, and the whole place has been excellent. I have no problem with them or their operations except maybe stuff they have no control of."

"I absolutely loved the facility, not only did the nurses and doctor's make me feel welcomed, they also got me on the right track for my medications and physical therapy. I was admitted to the facility for over a month, when I wanted to give up the nurse I had wouldn't let me and she stayed with me on her own time for 2 days in my room. The facility don't allow children under 16 to stay but they allowed my 13 year old son to stay with me when they saw how distraught he was and I became. I will never forget the nurses, doctors or therapist there, they gave me back my life and i will be forever greatful. "

"Select Care Hospital 4th Floor of Candler 95% of the nursing staff is rude and seem VERY uncaring, there is a nurse by the name of Valerie who was spectacular though. One nurse named Mea(?) or something close to that was especially rude, contradicting and spoke down to my mother and me when asking about her medication (it was given hours after it was due and was a time-sensitive medication). My mother was made to wait for help to go to the bathroom multiple (no less than 10 time) over 30-45 minutes after calling for help. She was also left on a bedpan and potty seat for 30-45 a couple of times. I spent almost 90 days there with my very ill mother. I complained multiple times to the manager (Cynthia) very nice but does not know how to get results obviously, I would suggest another place in Savannah for better care. Doctors were wonderful though. Food terrible, but that was the least of the issues I had with the place. They also had VERY out of date and uncomfortable chairs for family and friends to use while visiting. "

"I had heard mixed reviews on this facility. However when my 92 year old mother needed a place to get PT, speech therapy and OT, we chose Life Care Center because it was close to our home. We were so impressed with the care she received from the very knowledgeable rehab staff, the kind and caring nurses and the cleanliness of the facility. She left stronger than she had been in years! "

"Preston Health Center is our number one pick right now. We have done some research and we've heard that Preston Health Center does its best in terms of ensuring that its staff spends a certain number of hours with patients every day -- those numbers are higher than those of other places. They were very helpful and the facility looked fine. The problem is that they don't have a lot of beds. We looked at the rooms and the common areas and everything looked nice, well-maintained, and clean. We didn't see anything wrong with it. We only met the person in charge of admissions and we were satisfied with her. "

"My aunt is at PruittHealth. It's a nice and clean place. The staff is very nice. They keep in touch with me. They do what they can do. She has come a long way from the time that she got there. She eats well, and it feels homey. I got nothing bad to say about them, they're all right, and I would highly recommend them."

"Abercorn Rehabilitation Center is the number one facility to be in. The care, professionalism, and the treatment of the people is great. I have been to all of the rehab centers in Savannah and I have found out that the only place that I wanted to actually stay is Abercorn rehab. To all of the paraplegic people in Savannah that need short term rehab or somewhere to stay, come to Abercorn Rehab Center because they will take the best care of you and that's from the heart. -Frederick G.-"

"My husband is in NHC HealthCare Bluffton. He's been there for almost two months now. We're very happy where he is. We chose them because they had an open bed and it's less than a mile from us. We visited other family members there before and it's just perfect. It's amazing. It's almost like a hotel room. Everything's excellent. The food looks decadent, better than what I fixed at home. He's very happy with the amenities. With a broken hip and a broken femur, he's limited in activities but he's doing very well. The PT brought him home and they work with him and he's doing very well. He's there for rehab."

"I went to Sprenger Health Care Bluffton. The tour was very good. Cynthia did a good job with the tour. She's very knowledgeable and helpful. I was not impressed with their staff-to-resident ratio in the assisted living part. I thought their staff-to-resident ratio number was not where it should be. The rooms seemed fine. Everything looked clean. They're a very usable, livable type of space. There's a small refrigerator, like a little freezer, a little microwave, and a little counter where they could fix a cup of coffee, and that seemed to be pretty standard across the facilities."

"The people seem nice and very attentive at Westview. They provide a smoke break a couple of times a day. The facility isn't very new or very fancy but it appears to be clean. "

"My mother was placed in this facility because she couldn't stay by herself. The staff seemed very efficient and friendly. They were helpful and good with the patients. The food was pretty good and the cleanliness was as good as could be expected. Sometimes I'd smell urine when I walked into the building, but I didn't consider that a negative aspect. There was an incident after Christmas when my mother had some of her Christmas gifts in her closet. One of them was a new robe. Well, we couldn't find it when we went to look for it a couple of days later. My mother couldn't remember where it was. We looked everywhere and never found it. I guess we'll never know what happened to it. When my mother was extremely ill and close to death, the staff had put her in a special room with comforting decor and lighting. It was hard to see my mother in that state, and she didn't remember who I was, but the staff had done everything to make it as possible as possible.One more thing...one day a woman brought some miniature horses to visit and my mother was so amused and happy to see them. So was I! "

"We chose Sprenger Health Care Port Royal for my mother. She moved in last Saturday. I'm an RN and in my line of work, I had heard good things about their assisted living side, but the main thing I think that led me to this facility is the safety. They have a lot of safety mechanisms in place, and I just really felt like my mother would be safe in case she started wandering or anything like that. It is a locked facility, and they have all safety measures. The staff that I had worked with on the phone and the staff that I met in person were just incredible. They were so, so helpful. I got a really good feeling about them. Since my mother has been admitted, I have nothing to say but wonderful about the facility and the staff. I can only speak for the assisted living side; they have been incredible. My mom's room has everything she could possibly need. She does not have a suite. They do have suites there but none were available. She has a little outdoor patio because she does love to sit outside. It is in a courtyard where other residents can visit with each other and all; that is nice. Her room has all the safety measures in it as well with the pull strings for help. They put safety pendants on the patients. My mother fell the other night and she pushed her little safety pendant and they came in right away. Her room has a little kitchenette and has everything she needs. It's a very comfortable space for her. The staff has been incredible. Truly, I did not expect all the attention that I have received. They update me daily. I just couldn't ask for more. The staff knew that my mom was not expecting this move because her dementia is at a level we couldn't tell her. They had the staff right there, standing in the background, when we entered this facility to make sure if we were having any trouble. The staff is wonderful. My mom has certainly enjoyed it. The facility is beautiful and clean. I think the facility is great from the area I've seen. I don't have a lot to say about their activities because I don't really know. Because of the COVID thing going on, they can't have their residents all together, but they brought bowling to my mother's hall so that each resident could come out and bowl in the hallway to give them something to do. From what they told me, it sounds like they have some good activities. The value for money is very reasonable in comparison to other places; I'm satisfied with that."

"This nursing home was very clean. It had a very large common area with a piano for the residents. Each resident had their own room and could be someone dependent. The grounds of the nursing home were along side a river. This gave the elderly residents a nice view and serene place to live. The nursing staff was friendly and helpful. They were accomodating to the volunteers and to the guests. The equipment seemed to be faily new, at least within the last 5-10 years. Nothing looked out dated. Residents were clean and seemed reasonably content with their living situations. The common area was used for other events for the community which im sure helped raise their revenue to help provide for the residents. The volunteer organization was very well organized and well rounded. Did not see any meals being provided so I am not sure how the nutritional aspect of the facility was. "

"Bryan County is a nice homey kind of place. The people were very friendly and caring. It seemed clean, and it is nice. The sanitation was good because they came in every day and cleaned. I liked the staff and would recommend it to other seniors. "
