"Mom moved to Truewood by Merrill, New Bern. The accommodations are nice, acceptable, and clean. The food is good. It's affordable and the people are nice. The facility is well-maintained and easy to get around. I think they have a stylist that comes during the week, and when I first visited there they had a Mardi Gras party. They also have a salon and an area where they can meet for groups and activities."

"We toured The Gardens of Trent. We toured the entire facility. It was very nice. It was clean. The staff was very nice and very helpful. I think the manager, her name was Kris, and she was very informative. She walked us around and answered all of our questions. I had a very good experience there. The dining area was nice. It was well laid out for COVID safety as well. Everything was spaced out and there were some TVs in there, and people sitting together, and it was nice. It was a little dreary. There was no carpeting on the floor, so it was very cold. They could use an upgrade with some decorations and some carpeting on the floor. The other thing that I wasn't happy about was that they didn't have the ability for the residents to have TVs in their room. There was no cable or internet going into the facility. I asked if I brought my mom there if I could bring a TV for her, and they said that was fine, but there's no cable coming into the building. I wasn't really happy about that. The rooms were clean. They were cold. But they said if you wanted to bring in carpeting and curtains and things like that, you could bring stuff in for the room. They showed us a single room and a double room, and they were both a nice size, they were big enough. They had their own bathroom and a closet. A lot of people bring in their own blankets and mattresses just so that the residents can be more comfortable, and that was nice to hear. Everything looked very clean. They had just taken down some decorations and they were getting ready to redecorate for springtime. The grounds seemed like they were very well-kept. Everything was clean, neat, and very orderly. The staff mentioned that there was a salon. The staff were all very nice and very friendly. Everybody who walked by spoke to us."

"The Viridian was brand new, very posh, very modern, clean, with high ceilings, and very welcoming at the same time. They had a grand piano in the foyer, glass everywhere, that kind of place. Everybody I met was wonderful. The tour was excellent. They were very knowledgeable. They have a doctor on staff, which is nice for an assisted living place. They had a wonderful rec room. They had a media room where they had a gigantic TV for people to watch movies. They had the standard barber. The whole place was very slick. There's no carpet because the carpet is a trip hazard. It's just flat tile throughout. The rooms were quite large. They were very well set out. We did not eat lunch there, but we saw menus and the food looked really good based on the menu alone. There's a separate dining room for company, if you want to have a big Thanksgiving dinner, and you arrange it. There's a huge dining room table where your whole family can come. They do trips. They have an activities director, so something is going on all the time, all day, games and that sort of thing."

"The people at Croatan Village were really nice and very caring. The facility was about average, but I think it's the people that made it. They were very interested in their clients' well-being. They had all sorts of activities lined up. They're great to talk to. The staff member during the tour was very outgoing, very knowledgeable, a real people person, and seemed to know everybody that walked by in the hallway and what was going on in their lives. We went and talked to one of the residents that was in the assisted living, and she's a very nice lady, showed us around, and toured her room. We went and looked at the activity center and we looked out on the courtyard with the garden where they're growing vegetables and flowers for their group. I would definitely recommend it. The people were really caring there. The lady that runs it has been doing that for 32 years, and she's very knowledgeable."

"Sommerset has a very friendly staff and patients are free to enjoy the facility as well. The facility was clean and seemed to be well organized with distribution of meals, medications and more. Patients are allowed to go outside to enjoy the sunshine on bench seats displayed out front. As you enter the facility there is a family room set up for patients and family to enjoy visitation comfortably. The workers seem very busy; but I notice that they are focused on the patients; which is good. The rooms occupy at the most two patients per room, some are private only. This makes it nice for those that need a friend or just are loners. When you enter the facility you are required to sign in as the visitor or other persons of interest. They do have a library that brings books for the patients to enjoy. The patients were well kept by staff upon my viewing clean and comfortable. "

"I have been looking for a place for my mother. I had the privilege of working with Ms. Arnold. She is a very friendly, knowledgable, and warm person. She took the time to show me around the building and even suggested to look around at other buildings before making my decision. She answered all of my questions and put my mind at ease about the decision I was having to make. The staff was friendly and while taking a tour of the building it was obvious that Ms. Arnold was not just trying to move in someone new, but that she and all the staff I met cared about the people living there. I was invited to come by any time and talk with her staff or seniors and was even invited to their upcoming prom. My husband and I decided to ride by on their "prom night" to see if it was all that I was told it would be. It was. It was beautifully decorated and it made me feel reassured to place my mom at this building. The staff was dressed in their prom attire and was dancing and taking pictures with the folks that lived there. I am so glad to have seen this for myself. I highly recommend Carebridge to anyone and please make sure to ask for Ms. Arnold. You will feel like you are part of the family right away. "

"We chose The Cottages of Swansboro for my sister because of the location, the price, and what was included in the price because it's a flat fee. They don't charge extra if medications are required. Everything is included in the flat rate. It's very nice and very affordable. It's a home setting, so each person has their own room. There are six people in each cottage and everybody has their own dining room and living room within the cottage. Everyone comes to the table and has a meal as a family. Each cottage has one house mother to six residents. They have three or four shifts throughout the day, but they're always assigned to the same cottage. They have a staff that goes through all the cottages to give out medicines. The food is fabulous and homecooked. Each cottage has their own laundry facility. I love all the people there. It feels like family. The director is fabulous. We are happy with it so far. They have an online beauty shop and an activities director, do art, play games like Jeopardy, and have a little bus that takes them to different places. They have therapy dogs and gospel groups that come in."

"Liberty Commons is great. It’s a smaller facility, and it’s very clean. The staff is really happy. There’s a lot of personalized care. They pay a lot of attention to my mother-in-law, and they seem to do a good job. We have family that lives there, and they go to see her everyday. "

"Lighthouse Village is an older place. They don't have bathrooms in the rooms. They have community-type bathrooms and showers. The residents are super friendly. As soon as I went in the front door, they had the staff saying hi to me. They have activities. It is an OK community and the price is extremely reasonable. Lighthouse Village doesn't have as much as far as amenities but it is just so friendly. To me, that would make up for some of the other things. It doesn't have a lot of extra things but it is extremely friendly that it makes you want to be there. It is assisted living and all-inclusive. The dining area is more of a cafeteria style. Some of the rooms are two people to a room, but you can get a room to yourself. A lot of the residents were in the central room watching TV together. Well, because of the price and how friendly it was, it is one of my top three choices."
