"My brother-in-law moved into here. They were very cooperative, very nice, extended their time, and answered all my questions, and they were very helpful. That's why we chose it. The staff was very helpful, Paula, Michael, and the nurse was Scott, they've been very helpful and my brother-in-law has been there almost a month, almost two months now. The dining area is very nice, it's in a bright area, it's big enough, and it's fine. The facilities were excellent and very clean. They have outings and game nights."

"I like Croatan Village; it’s a privately-owned place, not a chain. I like the people and the one-on-one with the staff. One of the staff has been there ever since it opened 15 years ago. Two or 3 had been there 13 years, so it means it’s a nice place. They’re friendly, nice, caring people. My mom was in a semi-private room for about 2 ½ weeks, and she just got a roommate this past week. The rooms are nice, large, and clean. The bathroom is large which surprised me. They have built-in drawers; they also have furniture there, or you could take your own furniture. They offer games, crafts, TV, and ice cream socials. They take them out to eat; they take them shopping if they want to go. They have local bands or people to play instruments and sing, come in on Friday nights. They have a day that they’re pampered. They have a company or a group come in that soaks their feet and does their toenails. There’s a lady there who’s been there 15 years that does their hair. They play cards and have board games. Mother has never been one to complain about the food anywhere. She likes seafood, chicken, and pork chops, but beef is not something that she really cares for. Once in a while, they will serve beef, but most of their meals are seafood or vegetables or chicken, so she gets along really good. She’s put on about 5 or 6 lbs in the 3 weeks that she’s been there. "

"My mom went to The Viridian. It's brand new. They have independent living and assisted living. They were really good. It's a beautiful brand new facility. They served gourmet meals. They had all kinds of activities and very caring, loving staff. My mom would always come out and sit in the lobby. It's nice and it's really pretty, too. My mom was just there for respite care. We went on two small vacations, and Mom stayed there. They have independent living apartments, which are gorgeous, and then they have assisted living. The food was phenomenal. It's like a beautiful dinner that you plated up at a restaurant. It's gorgeous meals and healthy. They'll bring you anything you want, like snacks throughout the day. They're really good about that. It's a great place. If you plan on doing assisted living, I think it's a wonderful place for a loved one. It's more expensive and more upscale than the other place."

"We toured The Gardens of Trent. We toured the entire facility. It was very nice. It was clean. The staff was very nice and very helpful. I think the manager, her name was Kris, and she was very informative. She walked us around and answered all of our questions. I had a very good experience there. The dining area was nice. It was well laid out for COVID safety as well. Everything was spaced out and there were some TVs in there, and people sitting together, and it was nice. It was a little dreary. There was no carpeting on the floor, so it was very cold. They could use an upgrade with some decorations and some carpeting on the floor. The other thing that I wasn't happy about was that they didn't have the ability for the residents to have TVs in their room. There was no cable or internet going into the facility. I asked if I brought my mom there if I could bring a TV for her, and they said that was fine, but there's no cable coming into the building. I wasn't really happy about that. The rooms were clean. They were cold. But they said if you wanted to bring in carpeting and curtains and things like that, you could bring stuff in for the room. They showed us a single room and a double room, and they were both a nice size, they were big enough. They had their own bathroom and a closet. A lot of people bring in their own blankets and mattresses just so that the residents can be more comfortable, and that was nice to hear. Everything looked very clean. They had just taken down some decorations and they were getting ready to redecorate for springtime. The grounds seemed like they were very well-kept. Everything was clean, neat, and very orderly. The staff mentioned that there was a salon. The staff were all very nice and very friendly. Everybody who walked by spoke to us."
