"Heritage Care of Elizabeth City was overcrowded and didn't have many activities. They certainly could use more staff. The rooms were small. There was no place to do anything in the room. Usually, there were two people in a room and so it was not conducive to good living, but they were doing their job and the people needed them. It's well-maintained and well-taken care of. It's clean and decent."

"We are now at Barclay House of Tarboro. So far, we're very pleased. We have been here for a little bit, but so far, everything has been very good. Everybody has been so nice, and they seem to know who we are right away. They're taking the time to learn who we are. The staff has been very nice, have been very cooperative, and very helpful. They're doing very well, and our apartment was just all clean before we moved in. The food is very good. I just noticed my husband this morning, and I think I have to put him on a diet already. On Sunday they have brunch. We just had a brunch, and that was delicious. We have eaten in the dining room every night and it's very good. Regarding activities, we have only been to one event, and it was a Christmas Carol sing along and I loved it. We had a good time with that. Given the apartment we have, the value for money is excellent. We're in what they call the penthouse. It's a beautiful apartment, and very spacious. My husband is in a wheelchair, and we chose an apartment that we knew he could maneuver, so this is a bigger apartment. And so far he's been able to get around without having to back up and come around. This apartment has been very good for both of us. I like the space, and he likes the ability to maneuver."

"My mother has just checked into Scotland House. They offer various activities like arts and crafts, bingo, and religious services. They're very courteous. It is a new community. It is clean, neat, and well laid-out. My mother is in in a private room that is very spacious. It can accommodate a full or a queen-sized bed, a table, a dresser, and a nightstand. The room has a very wide bathroom, and it is wheelchair accessible. It is very nice room size. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you don't like what's on the menu, you can order soup or a sandwich. My mom seems to love the food so much better than where she was at. She also enjoys what activities they have."

"My grandmother is at Pantego Rest Home. The staff is great. Everyone's nice. It's really clean. It's just too far from us. It was taken over by new management after COVID and the manager and the assistant manager just really bend over backward for their residents. If they want to go to Wal-Mart in town, they'll take them. If they need something, they'll go get it for them, even if they have to go out of their own pocket because some of those residents there don't have anyone. It's an older community, but everything is safe. They have an alarm system. When you open the front door, that's right where the nurse's station is, so they can see the people coming and going. The residents are allowed to go out if they want if they're allowed. It's a small facility. The area is really, really small, but it's secure and nice, and as good as it can be. Her room was furnished. She only had to bring her own TV if she wanted and bed linens and they had dressers for her and everything. She's in a private room. I would live there if I had to. Everyone I've dealt with is good. They're not like the Ritz Carlton, but for what they have, nothing was broken or just fixed up to be suitable. Their activities calendar is very full and they have several churches in the area that come and do activities and little social events and stuff like that. It's very affordable."

"I had seen people left on the bed for hours by some staff members using cell phone 24/7 during the shift. The Cna's would read the med logs for the people living there and laugh when you pass by. No names but a small thin black worker known to hide and talk the whole shift in the med room with med techs ( also will tell the people who pay to live there to wait till done when on a cell phone call 24/7 on ear during shift talking). Now to me the food wasn't good and the cook Mrs. Annie tryed to work with the food given. The few workers who worked good and need a raise have beeen worked to the bone for real!!!!!!! I was Having An astma attack asked to call the doctor Brown what to do for me. No told to lay down an hour later asked do I need to go to er for breathing treatment? Katie didn't listen to me that night was weazzing hard and almost had throat close up. Next day till the seventh day was the same asked for doctor brown's advice for help/ treatment if needed no help from med techs. I had to call a temp socal worker in charge of me to get a doctors appt with doctor brown in person. doctor in shock and said to tell them med techs a peice on mind the next time at pinewood manor for people on list to check out. So darline/mary/katie wasn't treating my healyh right and leagally got away with neglecting me for real. The person in chage at the time Mrs. Armstrong wasn't told so wasn't the regestered nurse the only one paid at pinewood manor. Now how did they treat me after I was misstreated Mrs. Armstrong told my temp socal worker find me a new place I was unhappy. i wanted change not unhappy but was booted out with my fl2 form quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And was placed like a peice of trash in a worse place quickly from h$ll. Mary processed my health infomation that day and left fragments in the health information for me. I had magor parts of doctor records that only now i have to start over with new tests and stuff to get the help I need. I have had no spine shots for over 10 weeks in pain, no doctor to take care of back, and the pain from bone spurs are so bad its past a ten leval. I had twoo meds left out of the total meds that came with me oh this is the worst. The place pinewood manor treated me like a 4th class person cause i practiced wicca not being of Christ. The place has too many bugs running around and spiders trying to catch a meal at 11;00pm at night They are huge wolf spiders. I had the staff by pass me for the snack cart so many times it wasn't funny. Now I over looked so much more but this is a fact. I you want to dump your family and never come back you found the place. but if you love the person and want the best food and care don't trust the pinewood manor for such care. I have the best knowledge of the place cause I lived there so take this how you want. I care for friends left there and worry over if treated right but can call them every so often. But since now I typed this I bet they will not let me call in furture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Signing out by magical name sliver wolf only."

"A friend suggested to check out Red Oak Assisted Living because her grandmother stayed there for about 10 years, so I thought it must be a good facility. As it turned out, it was a great facility. My mom loved the staff, she liked the food very much. I also tasted the food there and it was good. The facility was very clean and there were no foul-smelling odors. "

"Visiting Britthaven Of Tarboro Facility, where my dad lives is a great facility for residents to stay in. When I go visit my dad at the facility he is always happy to see me. My dad's room is a very nice size with a soft and comfortable bed for him to sleep in. He has a small refrigerator in his room to keep any snacks or any kind of food that he don't want to store in the facility's refrigerator. The residents living with my father at the facility are cool and fun to talk to. Some of the residents like to sit on the porch and and enjoy the weather. The staff always keep an eye on the residents, its always one or two around them at the most. Conversating with the staff lets you know that they are willing to help and be there for the residents. The resident's rooms are extremly clean, no cups or dinner trays in there rooms at all. My father has alot of friends that treat him like family, dad and the residents play cards and board games in the activity room like its there daily routine. I asks my dad, "What he like about the facility," he says that "The staff and the residents make him feel like home." Moving my dad to Britthaven's Facility makes me happy to know that he's always in good hands. "

"My mom moved into the Edenton House. We are all 100% happy, and she is 100% happy with the way things are going there, and would you say ecstatic. Everyone that we've come in contact with the Edenton House has been very, very helpful, and very, very loving toward our mom. My mom seems to enjoy the food. Cleanliness is on the top of the list for us, it does not have a smell of anything but cleanliness, and everytime I go in there, they're cleaning. You see them cleaning everywhere, the floors, walls, bathrooms, constantly, I think they're all over the top of it, it's a good job. I know she has enjoyed being with crafts, she's always liked that kind of stuff."
