I went to Sunrise at Mill Basin. They knew I had an appointment. The lady who gave the tour was wonderful. Never rushed, answered every question, went over everything they have available, and then took me around to the whole place. The outdoors had a beautiful setting. It was right on the water. All the workers were very nice and very friendly. The place was very nice looking, and the dining room menu for the week looked wonderful. I didn't taste the food, but it looked wonderful. They sat all the people down in the dining room in the memory care, and they were all set up to eat. Lunch was brought over to them. The aides were interacting with the residents there as they sat around. It was very nice. They have all types of rooms. They all fit. They were taken. There was nothing available right now, but they had private suites. It looked beautiful. They had single rooms and shared rooms, but the shared rooms look beautiful also, because you went into an empty room area and then you had two separate bedrooms. They have a courtyard, a beauty salon, and a physical therapy unit. They have an afternoon lounge type thing where if you wanted a cocktail you could have that. But the clients, when I went there, the ones in the memory unit were outside in the courtyard, and it was sunny. It was very, very pretty that people were gardening. There were tables with umbrellas up. It was nice.

My mother-in-law stayed in Sunrise at Mill Basin. It was very done very well. It was clean. They did a great job taking care of her. They have various activities for the residents there. They have special events around the holidays. They've had a special veterans holiday. The dining area is always well maintained, it's clean.

I have be a Sunrise at Mill Basin for a few years, they think more about money the happiness and care of residents. My wife went away for a week and she was charged for meals and other services. I talked to the director about this and was told if I don’t like it leave, I will be leaving very soon I found a much nicer place where the care about residents. Sunrise at Mill Basin is getting very run down and the food is going downhill. They do not have the staff to take care of all the residents, the 11pm to 7am shift it is very hard to find somebody to help residents.

Very overpriced, they charge for every little thing the do. The food is subpar at best, my aunt would call me and say there was no snacks between meals and if you went to the kitchen you would get yelled at. During the activities they treated residents like children. Care was good but they are very under staffed.

I toured Sunrise at Mill Basin. The staff members that I met were incredibly friendly, outgoing, certainly caring, and at the same time, being honest with regards to what the expectations may be as far as the level of care that they may offer, are able to offer, and strive to offer. The rooms and the dining area appeared to be larger and better furnished than some of the other facilities that I visited. They had superior facilities to others. The location was also very nice. They have very nice grounds, but limited given the location. It is Brooklyn, New York, and not a real estate to go around. But the grounds were by far superior to many others I saw. There were activities happening, and then there were people present, like people who were not really participating in the activities. There was a TV time. People were sitting and watching a show. Some people were taking walks while supervised. Others were reading at the time of my visit in an organized manner, kind of sitting in a group.

Sunrise at Mill Basin was very nice, but very expensive. The rooms were fabulous. First of all, they had their own suites and that was the cheapest one. The suites had their bedroom, bathroom, and a shared space. Then you can have your own where it was like an apartment with one room or two rooms. It was very nice and very clean. They have a lot of stuff going on. They go shopping, play bowling, do arts and crafts, and do a lot of stuff. The staff was pretty nice and decent. They just need more diversity.

I'm going to move my mother to Sunrise at Mill Basin's assisted living. It's lovely, it looks like a resort or a hotel and it's nicely kept. It's very pretty and the room was very nice. They have companion rooms where you share a kitchen, and they have studio apartments where you have your own little kitchenette. Everyone was very friendly, especially the tour guide. And everyone was very welcoming, the staff was very friendly, and it seemed it was a very good atmosphere. They have a nice dining area with tablecloths and China, and the menu looks great. We didn't eat the food but everything looked good and there were a lot of choices. They have yoga, chair exercise, and they were setting out for a Saturday matinee movie. And then we also saw a set up for them to play Family Feud, there were a lot of activities, they do a painting class. We didn't see that, but they were. You could see the schedule. There were a lot of activities.

Sunrise at Mill Basin was a very lovely place. All in all, everything was clean and well-kept. The menu, the activities during the day, and their activities were sort of similar to the other senior living places, but I just liked the fact it was on the bay where you could sit outside and walk a little. The surroundings were just pretty. The director was very engaging. We sat and talked, and she explained everything and answered all our questions. It was very thorough. Overall, I liked the place.

The only place that took wheelchairs was Sunrise at Mill Basin. They have a heavier level of care. They feel that taking care of seniors is a mission, which I like. They're very warm and caring. Mom is in the memory care center. She hasn't been out because of quarantine. What they've done with her is they stimulated her mind and they do current events. The food is very good, she loves the food, and eats everything that's there. The staff is excellent, they're very caring, loving, wonderful people. The facility is very nice, it was an old mansion. They're very expensive because of the rehab and because of memory care, but I'm pleased with them. This is the only place that talked about their COVID-19 protocols. They're very strict with their protocol, which we liked very much. They moved the process along very quickly for us to move in, so we moved in within a week of starting the paperwork.

I went to Sunrise at Mill Basin. I thought it was a beautiful place, it was very clean, and the people were very nice. The tour was really nice, the person I spoke to was very informative, and the people that lived there seemed to be pretty happy. They were having lunch when I went there, it seemed to be pretty good, and there were people in the recreation room doing some exercises.

Sunrise at Mill Basin was very nice. We ate there and it was good. The woman who showed us around was excellent. However, I didn't feel it was a great fit for my mother primarily because the activities weren't quite right for her. The activities were geared towards people with more significant memory loss than my mother has, so it wasn't a fit for us. Nevertheless, I thought they were great, and the rooms were lovely.

Sunrise at Mill Basin is clean and has all different services. The private room has its own bathroom. They have a library, dining room, and activity rooms. The staff member who showed me around was very good. They have many amenities, but it wasn't cramped because they have space unlike other places.

The first time we went to Sunrise at Mill Basin, we got a private tour with Angie who was in charge of selling us the place. She was exceptionally good at what she does and was very caring, and understanding. It was a beautiful place because it didn't look like a hospital or a big building. It has a great place to walk around and you can sit on the balconies and see the sunset. It was a very homey and well-designed environment. When we went the second time, we had a taste of the food, and what impressed me the most was they had picture of all the residents in the kitchen, and it was color-coded all their special dietary needs. We also met the chef who was very helpful. They didn't push us, and there was no high selling pitch, which was important. The staff was wonderful. The first level had rooms with en-suite baths, and you share a common area with another person, but the rooms were totally separate and everybody has their own bathroom and closet. They share a common entrance area which is like a suite. The second one was a studio apartment which was quite large, and third was a private 1-bedroom apartment. Two of the places had balconies that overlooked the inlet, which is quite beautiful with sunsets and rocking chairs, so it's very comfortable for seniors. You don't feel like you're in an institution. The hallways are wide, warm, well-decorated, and they have a piano, a library, a sunroom, and a private place for birthday parties and family gatherings. They also have a really nice dining room, which is like a restaurant where you can order from a menu, and a coffee bar that's open from morning to evening where you can get fresh cookies, fruit, coffee, or tea. We saw a lot of activities too.

I was able to visit Sunrise at Mill Basin, and I liked it. The staff looked very caring. I saw different rooms that were very good. I also saw the residents having lunch, and they seemed to have good relationship with the staff.

I liked the way Sunrise at Mill Basin was laid out. It was more of like a country thing. It had everything that I hoped for as far as the facilities. It was clean. The only thing I was interested about it was that they charged a move in fee and some other don't. We went on a tour and they showed us the activities. It seemed like a very nice place. They had plenty of facilities and plenty of activities going on.

My mother has been at Sunrise at Mill Basin for less than two months now. Its location is quite convenient. They have a dedicated memory loss center, which is what my mother needed. The facility itself is situated by the water, so it is very nice and seems like a comfortable place for her to be. The staff seems quite good and upbeat for the most part. The majority of the people that I met are very welcoming both to the residents and to the family as we visited. The food has been very good, actually, and has been one of the better parts so far because they have a good selection every day that my mom likes. They do some games, quizzes, and some art activities.

The other one I've seen and had more personal experience with is Sunrise Assisted Living. I've been in touch with them for a few years because I suspected my mother would need to go into assisted living at some point, and they can't be any nicer to me. They are so nice and very helpful with advice in trying to help me understand Alzheimer's, which we were suspecting my mother was going to be diagnosed with. It is very much like the other place, in that it is more luxurious and more like living in a very nice hotel, but they also have a very nice program and training for their staff concerning Alzheimer's care. So they're a 5-plus because I've already seen what their program is about for their Alzheimer's patients, at least a little bit; I've been introduced to it already. The rooms are very nice and carpeted, and the nice thing about it is that you could room two people with two separate bedrooms and each had separate baths as well, so you don't have to see who's going to use the bathroom first, and I thought that was an extra-nice touch. Also, the rooms each had a little kitchenette area, not that they could cook, and I don't even remember if they're allowed a microwave, but at least people were able to have their dishes, and they brought their own food in or something like that. It was nice in a way -- just a little bit of an apartment-style of living as opposed to just having a room with a bed, in a sense.

They had different things for the people to do and doctors on-staff depending upon the needs of the residents. I was satisfied with the price. They had three meals and snacks available. It didn't seem to be as roomy as the other place we visited though, and it didn't have as much space available -- outdoor and indoor. However, the staff was superb. They gave us a good idea of what Sunrise at Mill Basin was about, and we were able to meet with different varieties of people working in different areas. We got a good overall view of everything.

Sunrise at Mill Basin was a very nice place. The staff was very cooperative and very nice. We have no problem with them. The rooms/apartments were actually beautiful. They were freshly painted and had new rugs, plenty of closet space, and nice bathrooms. They're very nice. The dining room was more like a restaurant atmosphere. It was very nice. They did have some activities going on although I didn't really look into those too much because I was more looking into the rooms and how the staff would react to my mom's condition. The atmosphere was very nice; there were a lot of people going around. Everyone was down in the big day room talking, and it was very nice.

Sunrise at Mill Basin is fabulous. I visited two locations for Sunrise, and both are great. They have very good service, and it is very clean. They are really good and very attentive. I went with my mom, and she said she would go now if I would pay for her. She was ready to sign up, but she doesn't need assisted living. We all loved it. The facility itself is very spacious, open, and very inviting. It was colorful, and it was very enjoyable. It felt like almost a getaway or a vacation because it was very relaxing.

The staff at Sunrise Mill Basin was helpful and attentive. They weren't any problems with the staff. The rooms are nice and decent in size. The only thing was there wasn't any lock on the individual doors. There was a lock on the main door going in, but not on the individual door. The food was very good, they had exercises, and then at 10:30 they have certain type of board games, like bingo, or card games. Sometimes they had activities at night whether it's movie, TV setup, or entertainment where they would bring in people that play piano or sing. Once they brought in a guy who did a song and dance and even danced with the seniors. They also took them to drugstores, church, and shopping once a week. I think the food was very good. We found the people accommodating.

Sunrise at Mill Basin has the same things as the others. From what I understand, the same company makes the same furniture and the same company furnishes the area rugs. It's lovely, bright and elegant. This place is cheaper than the other Sunrise in other places. It is right on the water. It's Mill Basin, with boats and sea gulls. It's very pretty. The staff were very respectful, warm and listens to everybody's needs. I actually had a thanksgiving meal there and the food was awesome and the china was lovely. It's like a five star hotel or restaurant. They have all levels of rooms. They have shares, studios, one, two, three bedrooms and suites.

Overall, I think that the patients could be dressed and ready before visiting hours so that way visitors aren't waiting a long time to see their loved ones. Some of the patients could be kept cleaner, have their diapers changed more often, but the patients are generally maintained at a decent level. The facility itself is clean, with a good custodial staff. The staff cares about the patients and they make every effort to reach out to families when there is a concern.

My grandmother was a resident at this adult assisted living facility. She was living with my Aunts but was recommended to this facility because they had better health care supervision available. The first thing that strikes you about this facility is the garden and landscape at eh entrance. I originally moved here from Florida and it reminded me of the we propertied were built and maintained there. I an familiar with other locations in the city from driving by and this one absolutely blows them away. Not only is the entrance well kept, the grounds are well kept as well, even where the backyard is that runs into the boardwalk and terrace overlooking the water. The property is located on the water in Jamaica bay, it offers the opportunity to see the bay from several of the rooms. My grand mother had one of these and told us how tranquil the water was during the daytime. The location allows for a tranquil environment while being close to relatives and friends in the city. The staff is professional and the experience was excellent, the only draw back is winter, but then again it is for us all.

I am very pleased with Sunrise Mill Basin. I have 2 aunts in residence, which they are also pleased in where they are residing. As the months have passed each day i see a change in them. They have a get up and go push that they had lost. I recommend this facility. It is located in a beautiful area.

Overall the senior assisted facility is in good shape. The faculty is nice and has a smile on their faces for anyone that passes by the center. The seniors look happy and at ease in their environment. The facility looks pretty much clean and there are employees waking throughout the center to survey that everything goes smoothly. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean. Some of the employees have attitudes but most of them like their jobs and enjoy getting up in the morning to spend time with the seniors. I enjoyed my stay at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center.
