My brother went in for rehab. They helped him with everyday things like reminders, giving him his medicine, and food. He's able to eat by himself and get up to the bathroom right next to his bed. They have to come and get him and tell him that there's going to be this entertainment, and then take him there because even though everybody's given a calendar of the monthly events, he'll never be able to follow that. I think the facility is extremely clean, so I have no complaints about that. The room he is in is very nice. There are 4 people in there. The two others had strokes, and they don't really talk, but the man who's directly across from him has his faculties completely 100%, so he converses with my brother a lot. He looks out after him, too, so I would love it if my brother could just stay in there because the two of them are very compatible, and he looks after him, so it's a really good setup. They had a brochure, and I had taken it to the social worker to ask why my brother couldn't stay there, because I don't understand it. She said people come in there for short- term rehab like physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, which my brother doesn't get anymore. He did it in the beginning, though. I think they are leading me to believe that they don't have long-term, but they do. It says in the brochure that when the time comes, and you need long-term care, this is the place for long-term care. Now, I saw that the brochures weren't in the lobby anymore. My brother has to contribute financially towards his Medicaid, so they are getting money from Medicaid, plus my brother has to give them a check every month. Other than that, the staff members are very nice, and they know who everybody is. They know who I am and who my husband is. I see that that goes with everybody else, too. I would give them a perfect rating if they weren't giving me the runaround, and would tell me that they're definitely keeping my brother because that's been weighing on my mind.

My uncle will still be staying at The Chateau at Brooklyn Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. They have long-term care, but the space is limited. We did have my mom in there for a period of time, and the food was not as good as the service. The rooms are pretty large, you can request a single room. When my uncle first went there he had a room to himself because he had oxygen, and then he was moved to a room with double occupancy, but I've seen some rooms which had three people in the room. They do have a very good place where they do physical therapy, everything is newly renovated, and they have a very good program with the concierge, they're very engaged with the family, that was good, and we have a very good rapport with the nurses that were assigned to my uncle. With COVID, it was a little difficult in the beginning to gain access to my mom and my uncle. However, anytime there was an incident with my uncle or my mom they would call us, and we had communication with them. The place is very clean, the staff down to the people that do the cleaning are very friendly, and they constantly clean it throughout the day.

my grandfather was a patient here for a couple of years. recently they renovated their first floor but a majority of their building (floors 2-5) are still dirty looking. the nurses here are abusive.. im not talking physically abusive but they will violate patients right for their own convenience. from my understanding many of the nurses that work here are fresh out of college so your relatives are prone to human errors. staff is very rude the building is poorly managed. in the winter the rooms are freezin and they have to put 3 blankets on you. the elevators break down very often and they dont let you use the stairs so you have to sit in the lobby and wait they say there is wifi but its frequently offline, doesnt cover the whole building, and they dont tell you the password the food is bad... chicken every day. the stuff is not fresh and cooked wrong.. activities employees are nice but the activities are dated and their supervisor is bad some patients here find it enjoyable because they have family members fight with social workers and nurses to improve conditions but if you are the type that wont fight and want to leave your relatives here alone... lord have mercy i fought with staff on a regular basis to get simple things to turn up the heat in the winter do NOT come here.
