I had a family member in this facility a short while back. The facility is very clean and smells very fresh. The staff are very friendly and are very good to the residents. All staff in the building really make an effort to get to know the resident and always greet them with a smile. Overall this facility is great and i would recommend this facility to anyone looking to place a loved one.

Horrific experience at Elmora Hills in Elizabeth NJ. Patient was a disabled vet on dialysis, blind in one eye, 80% deaf in both ears and riddled with arthritis in both hands. Naturally, their are some good employees at the facility but management is a complete disgrace. Literally no communication after a horrific experience. I left multiple messages for a return call and nothing. Managment doesn't care what happened after my uncle didn't feel safe and begged to be moved or released from the facility. Clearly management doesn't care or simply doesn't want to hear from the family concerning what was done to him and his experience at the facility.

Please if you have an option do not put anybody you love in this place. First, my mother who is 90 yrs. old is allergic to tomatoes and does not eat meat, it CLEARLY states that on her diet plan and the meal ticket (see attached), over five times I had to go to the kitchen because one of these items was on her plate. The director each time corrected it, but if I wasn’t there what would have happened? Yesterday it was 8 degrees outside and my mother’s room felt like you were standing outside. Maintenance was notified and nothing was done. You would think that the staff would realize this and move her to a room that is adequate for a human bean. Since they did not my brother and I moved her to a room that was fitting for a human bean to stay in. This appeared to piss the staff off. There are times when you can just walk in without there being a security person at the door. On numerous occasions, I have spoken to the director of operations, the director of social work, and the director of the kitchen, and even though they appeared to exhibit concern nothing changed. Unfortunately, my sister is housed in this same place and she suffers from MS, they dropped her injuring her leg. There was an incident where my sister heard one of the staff members yelling and my mother, and she said something to the staff member only to be told to “mind her business”. I have heard things come out of staff’s mouths that I would never think I would hear from people whose job is to care for the sick and elderly. Things like you are “ANNOYING”. But each time before these things happened, I attempted to address these issues in a calm professional manner. The staff gives you the impression that they really don’t like what they are doing, rarely any smiles or greetings. Obviously, there are staff members that show concern but they are few and in between. I don’t know if these people have love ones that are sick or elderly but I pray they don’t treat them the way they treat the patients. I can literally go on and on, but what is the sense, all I ask is that my 90-year-old mother be treated the way they would expect their mother to be treated. This letter could easily be misconstrued as being written by a person that just complains, trust me this isn’t the case.

If anyone would like to be rehabilitated back to their prior level of function, this is the facility to go to in the Union County district. First let me start by saying the care here is phenomenal . The environment and the ambiance of the facility makes it feel like you're at a hotel with the extra TLC. The nursing staff is well trained. The aides are like no other. My mom was within this facility a month ago. Before being transferred to the facility, we were asked to choose three facilities. Elmora Hills was the last facility we walked into . I knew this was the facility to have my mom rehabilitated at because I did not smell urine or feces upon entry. I was greeted professionally and then escorted to the admissions department. The admissions personnel answered all of our questions. At one point my brother said to me, that everything that was being expressed sounded too good to be true. One thing that I loved about the tour was the admissions person knew every patient by name and stopped to greet them. All the staff acknowledged us as we walked through. We promised ourselves that if the first two days were not what we expected that we would take our mom home. I must say this facility does not disappoint. Before making a choice on where to take your family member, stop in and take a look around and I promise based on our experience, you will not regret it.

my mother has been a resident there for about 2 weeks and has been treated horrible. specially from a nurse called Ms.B who has denied her medication after having back surgery. also, they managed to get her wound infected to the point that she must stay 4 more weeks for the treatment she must get. also they have left her without help for the restroom and once left her for 1 1/2 hours without getting cleaned with a diarrhea filled diaper. I have told many people not to use this facility, also to the doctors I work for and will make sure many more people know how horrible of a place it has been. even my moms surgeon doesn't want her there. He will make sure none of his patients go there as well.
