I live in Urbana Place Senior Living, and I have been here for six years. They have a lot of activities here, and they encourage people to be involved. Sometimes I help with the activities. My apartment is very nice. I have a one-bedroom with a living room and a bathroom. I like that they have a lot of amenities. We have cable and internet, and all of our utilities are included. I'm not too pleased with the food, but it doesn't have anything to do with them. I was a missionary in Jamaica for 26 years, and I'm used to Jamaican food, so I just don't like American food. Overall, my interaction with the staff is pretty good. I have had a very pleasant experience with most of them.

We are staying at Urbana Place Senior Living. We are in assisted living. It is great. It is everything they said it would be when we looked at it. The staff is very friendly and professional. This is actually the biggest room that I saw out of the 11 places I looked at. The food is very good. I just had dinner about an hour ago. There are lots of activities. I'm still working, so I don't go to those. It is brand new. Compared to all the other ones, their pricing is a little less, though it's still more than I wanted to pay.

I have chosen Urbana Place Senior Living. They're experiencing a staff shortage just like everyone else is. But the staff I have been in contact with have been very good. My room is a lovely corner unit, a bedroom and a den. It's probably larger than some others that only have one bedroom. I'm very, very pleased with it. It has a view of a parking lot and a few trees. The common dining area was okay. It's like a restaurant where you put your order in and they come and serve you. There are some activities. They have movies, craft events, and happy hour. It's not bright and shiny and it's only three years old, but it gives a very comfortable feeling. It's right off the 610, so it's kind of in a busy area, but it's fine. The big plus is they take pets and they love pets. One of my first criteria is, 'Do you take dogs?'

My mom has been living in Urbana Place Senior Living for three years now. It was a brand new building when she moved in. She was like the tenth person to move in, so very well kept very nice facility. The staff they have was very good up until the COVID. They are understaffed. They just have a shortage of finding workers, and that's happening not only in assisted living but everywhere. The rooms are very nice, very updated, very comfy, very home feeling, and very well equipped. She went from assisted living to memory care, and the rooms are a little bit different, but still very, very nice and equipped. You don't have a full kitchen, but you got a refrigerator and a sink, and a little bit of cupboard space. They just don't have the stove and microwave type stuff, which is pretty evident when you're memory care, you don't get to play with those things. Good food. The dining area is so cozy, it's a nice, nice big room, but they did it up so that you feel like you're out in the country, at a restaurant. It's just nice. It's spacious, it's decorated, so you feel like you're out having breakfast on Sunday after church. They have daily activities, keep them engaged, active, that's one thing they're good at. They have morning activities, afternoon activities, up until just before the dinner hour. They do a good job of encouraging all of the tenants to participate, and that's a nice variety of activities, be it some physical activities, painting, decoupage, coloring, and they have different games they play. So it keeps mom very well engaged and active throughout the day. Maintenance is very good so far. Say if you do have a problem there, it's usually looked at and, or taken care of in just a couple of days max, some things quicker than others, but they do a very good job of at least getting it checked out. It's a newer facility, so there haven't been a lot of issues. They have a salon, a spa area, and they have a very nice bistro room. They got different games, chairs, puzzles, word books, shuffleboard games, and a TV or two in one part. It's pretty nice, it's two rooms. They can open it up or make it two rooms. I'm finding out they're overpriced, but all in the same price range as the other facilities. I just think they charge too much. On Sundays, they have church service, and a movie night on Saturday night, but the activities on weekends are not structured, so my mom misses that. The weekends get a little bit long unless she has company because, during the weekdays, she's busy. She wakes up, they get her to the bathroom, she gets dressed, and then goes down for breakfast. She doesn't leave the community room area because they've got this activity, that activity, then it's lunchtime, and then they've got more activities and games, and then it's dinnertime. So, she doesn't even get back to her room sometimes till 6:30 or 7:00 at night. And then the weekend comes and then there's just not a lot of activity. I just know that because I go visit her every weekend, and part of the reason I go on the weekends is thar there just aren't as many activities and it's not their fault. Not everybody works on the weekend, but that's one area that I've been talking to them about. It would be nice to have maybe just an extra activity or two over the weekend. But there again, they're limited with staff, so I understand.
