We visited Claudia's Cottage in Wyandotte. All the bedrooms were on the second floor with a very steep stairway. We were concerned about safety. They did have an electric lift, but we were concerned that my sister is ambulatory and that she might try it in the middle of the night to go down the stairs. We saw the common areas and we were taken up to the second floor where the bedrooms were. We saw the one bedroom that had a vacancy, but the stairway was extremely steep. My sister, at this point, is doing a lot of wandering. That's the other reason that we're looking for a facility and we weren't comfortable that she might wake up in the middle of the night. Maybe whoever was there wouldn't observe that, and she could be injured because of the stairway. It's an old Victorian house. It's a very clean facility. The location was good. The only negative thing that we have is the concern about my sister's safety with the stairway. I think that they have a good setup there as long as the patients are immobile. They're moving the patients up and down that stairway safely, but it just wasn't a fit for us. The patients there that we saw out of their rooms were just watching TV.

Claudia's Cottage is absolutely lovely. Dad's room is perfect. They have different activities for the residents. The food is nutritious, healthy, and not a bunch of junk. They have a beautiful outdoor porch and exceptional caregivers. The place has a home-like atmosphere, and they do what's good for the individuals. The staff is wonderful.
