My mom has moved into Waltonwood of Royal Oak. Everybody there is really friendly. It's very bright and has a kitchenette, which is nice for her. The staff are extremely friendly, nice and helpful; they have a really nice atmosphere. I did have one meal there, and it was extremely good. It was very good, tasty, and very flavorful. It's a stew, but that's the only thing I ever had. There were quite a few activities. They had a pretty good schedule for every day. Not that my mom is interested in that kind of thing, but I'm sure a lot of people are. They had a variety of things. They were very reasonably priced compared to others that were nowhere near as nice. The staff members were really good.

I toured Waltonwood of Royal Oak. It was a young gentleman that showed us through. He was very enthusiastic about his position, which made me feel good. He was very enthusiastic about this development, which was relatively new. It was very clean and neat. The individual units that I and my wife looked at seemed kind of almost like hospital rooms, which kind of turned me off rather than the more cozy apartment style that we'd seen at the previous assisted living facilities. I didn't particularly care for that. The dining room was nice and very pleasant, and it was nicely decorated. There are arts and crafts and other types of activities there. They had transportation to a grocery store once or twice a week. They also would take the residents to a bank if they requested that. They did have a large craft room, a small exercise room, and a nice common dining area.

My dad will be moving into Waltonwood of Royal Oak, and our experience has been pretty good so far. It's a very nice place and it's not very big either, it had a nice atmosphere. It's a beautiful facility. It's right across from Beaumont Hospital. The people that we dealt with were very helpful, they took us all around and showed us the rooms. It's a very lovely place.

I would give Waltonwood Royal Oak a 100% score. If I could afford it myself, I would move there now. That place was awesome. The rooms were more like hotel style. They're very clean and they are really into the people that live there. They congregate with them. They sit down, talk to them, and walk with them. The residents were not in their rooms. They were out playing games, sitting out in the lobby, talking to each other, and laughing. I met the cook, the people that go in and clean the room, and everybody there. They actually stopped what they were doing so I could meet them. Then the residents asked me to sit down and play a game with them. I felt comfortable. They had a happy hour and different events for you to sign up and go to. I got a big basket of different cookies and cakes that they made for me. They also offered me a meal and the food smelt awesome. They have more variety in their meals. They're right across the street from Beaumont Hospital, which is what I liked as well.

My dad loves living at Waltonwood Royal Oak. He was always an introvert, but since he arrived at Waltonwood RO, he has become a social butterfly and thoroughly enjoys all of the activities from exercise classes to Blackjack. His apartment and the common spaces are lovely and warm. The staff at Waltonwood RO genuinely knows and cares about him. Everyone-- the receptionists, techs, nurses and even the Executive Director have gone out of their way for both him and me on countless occasions. I deeply appreciate their efforts especially as I live out of the state and am trying to manage his care/health from a distance. They have even stepped up their game since the advent of COVID-19, working extra hard to find ways to provide the same level of care, quality, and comfort, while balancing all of the necessary restrictions to prevent infection. I cannot say enough about our experiences at Waltonwood RO and rely on them to be there for my dad when I can’t.

Waltonwood of Royal Oak was lovely. It was a well appointed room, and this facility was fairly new . It was a well appointed room with lovely furniture, a television, a sort of mini kitchen, and a bathroom. It was very nice, but I am just not ready for that sort of thing. Everyone was absolutely wonderful. They have a lot of people in there that need more help than I would need, and I give them high marks; they take very good care of people.

I think probably first and foremost I felt that my mother would be very safe at Waltonwood. They have a lot of safeguards for elderly people and even cameras so if they fell they would know exactly where they were. It was very clean, and it was light; my mother had macular degeneration, so it was important that she had a lot of lights around her. The staff was just fantastic -- very welcoming when we first went in there. They always called as back and returned messages when I called. They were very kind to my mother, and they did medical assessment on her immediately instead of waiting; normally they waited, but since she was there they did a medical assessment on her without me paying a dime; it’s a $300 charge and they said don’t worry about it. After my mother fell, she was in a nursing home and a rehab center. They had a lady there went and visited her twice. She came in and asked for updates and then she called a couple of times and said "you know I’d really like to visit your mom; would that be OK?" When my mother passed away, she sent flowers to the funeral home, and she visited the funeral home.

Waltonwood was lovely. It's just very expensive. I didn't care for the apartments because they were very small. They're good for one person. But it was a wonderful place. The only problem that I had was number 1: the cost. I couldn't afford it. Number 2: the apartment was not comfortably large enough for both my husband and me to live there. But it's ideal for a single person. It's in a nice location, and the staff was very lovely. I just couldn't afford it.

We chose Waltonwood of Royal Oak because it's nearby to us and it is across from the hospital that we go to, and it would allow us to do some things for my mother than the other places would not allow us to do. The rooms are beautiful and the food is very good. The people are very nice and the activities are OK. They have art activities, games, and movies. They go out for excursions. The staff are very good. Their dining room is nice. They bring people to play music. I would definitely recommend this facility.

Looking throughout metro Detroit for a retirement facility for my parents, I visited this place and my parents seemed happy with it. They weren't quite sure but there were only a few rooms available and they put $300 down to reserve a room, which we were told would be refunded if they changed their minds in 30 days. This was in 2011. We asked for a refund only a couple of weeks later and to date we have not received a refund. My parents are in a much larger and more comfortable facility at a lower cost. If you're looking to get rid of your parents and never talk to them again, I guess this place is fine. If you want something better, look East.

The facility is a 3 out of 5 because of a few, strange things. I say strange because they are not the typical assisted living facility complaints. The assisted living provider is located in Royal Oak, Michigan, which is a fairly well-to-do suburb of Detroit. In order to enter the facility, one must be "buzzed" into the main door. I feel that this practice is odd, and that giving family members or friends key access to the front door would be a much more welcoming practice. The buzz-entry gives off a weird security vibe. Although the front door is quite secure, residents' room doors are consistently left propped open by staff. I understand the risk for falls and their catastrophic results, but I feel as though residents' privacy could be better protected. Despite this, I feel as though the staff are kind and genuinely care about the people in their care. The food is quite good, as well. There are things that make the facility feel homey and warm. Those things include the aforementioned staff and meals. However, there are some drawbacks. The drawbacks do not include issues with cleanliness or maltreatment, I feel as though they could easily be improved.

I think that the Waltonwood of Royal Oak, Michigan is an excellent facility for someone who is looking for a placement for a friend or a family member. The Walton wood of Royal Oak, Michigan is a very elegant and luxury style living setting environment and atmosphere for any senior who is looking to live like a King or a Queen for comfort, elegance and luxury. Waltonwood has a varied floor plan that is designed to fit into any seniors' individual needs and life style. Very elegant Victorian Style furniture from top to bottom in this elegant facility, The Waltonwood common grounds are beautiful, elegant and very well landscaped, maintained, and structured with perfection. The surrounding neighborhoods are very beautifully landscaped, maintained and structured with perfection as well. The residents were very formerly dressed and looked as if they were going out on a formal dinner date with one another. The apartments are large and they have 1 and 2 bedroom apartments and 1 and 2 bathroom apartments also their individual floor plans are spetecular. While there, I noticed that their apartments and dining area was very elegant and formally furnished and designed with every detail showed great architect and perfection and all the décor matched. They had some of the most beautiful pastel colors for those that love pastel colors as I do it was just simply striking to the eye and breath taking as well. The residents' main dining area was fit for a King and Queen to eat in. They also had a restaurant style varied menu for their residents and their residents are always being served refreshments and are always socializing and interacting with one another and are so very happy to live there and I don't blame them not one least bit. I would love to live there too and they also have a lounge for their social entertainment. They also provide a vast majority of services for their residents and very assessable as well. Amenities that tend to make retirement living very worth while. Their staff and management treat their residents like family also. Their facility is very safe and secured and in a very safe and secured setting also. The facility also looks like a Castle. They also have a secured monitor entry system for their residents. They offer their residents so many services and activities if I were too list it all I would be writing there services for weeks and weeks and weeks. It is just a fantastic place to live for any and everyone 50 and over. I would rank this elegant facility with a five stars plus rating for its excellence and expertise.
