I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

When my parents decided to move to Michigan from Florida to be closer to my family I researched 7 different independent facilities in the area. After choosing StoryPoint I can say that I could not be happier with the decision. The staff is very professional and welcoming. They took me on several tours and answered all my questions quite accurately. The facility is attractive and looks very well maintained. My parent’s apartment is bright and modern looking, as are the other apartments I have seen. Recently newly vacated apartments have had a full makeover, as have the hallways, the dining room and the laundry rooms. When my dad got ill the staff was warm and caring with my parents, often going out of their way to bring meals, set up rides to and from the hospital, and be supportive for my mom. It offered me great peace of mind! The staff I have interacted with are fantastic! From the rental agent to the social director to the chef and wait staff, I am confident that they go out of their way to make the daily activities of life fun, involving and engaging. They have also been extremely receptive to my being invited and involved, although I am not a resident! It is obvious that they care deeply about the community residents. I am so pleased with our choice of StoryPoint! I believe this is a wonderful home for my mom, who has made great best friends here. I highly recommend StoryPoint for people wanting an independent living community.

My husband and I toured the facility with Katie, who is amazing, and we were so impressed that we requested a lease and moved my mother in law from Florida that same week. Katie took care of everything and had everything in place when she arrived over the weekend. Shelbie and team are very nice and great to work with also.

Provider Response

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have moved into StoryPoint East Lansing. It's beautiful. We have a backyard, trees, and woods. It's nice. You have three meals a day, and if you need help, they have people who can help you with meds, bathing, whatever. The people assisting us are caring and helpful. They have good energy. The food is really good and balanced. The servings are for a 200-pound man, so there's more food than a woman can eat. It's wonderful. They have bingo. They have what they call Wine Down Wednesday, so they have music, and you can have wine or a beer. The common areas are clean and safe. I have my own little patio, too. They allowed me to have my dog. He is a big dog; he is 65 pounds. I think what let them get me in is that he is an international therapy dog, so he has a lot of training. He takes care of every person who comes out of the hallway, too. It's nice.

My brother will move into StoryPoint East Lansing. They have a balcony in his room so he can sit outside, and they also have a space for a garden so he can garden. They also have restaurant-style eating. He has a menu of choices. We had lunch there when we went on this tour, and it was very good. There was a choice of about five different things he could have for lunch. They have homemade desserts. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They have activities every day and also a bus that takes them on outings. It was like a new building. It used to be a hotel, but they've just remodeled everything.

Provider Response

Hello Rosemary, Thank you for sharing your brother's positive experience at StoryPoint East Lansing! We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate the apartment offerings, life enrichment activities and more. Our team works hard to create a welcoming atmosphere, and it's great to see that reflected in your visit.

The food is very good. Multiple options for the residents to select. Currently the Activity director is doing a great job at trying to get more residents involved The staff are very caring along with Malik and Kate right there to assist the residents in t heir needs. Story time does have the availability of a resident adding services as they age and need more help.

Provider Response

Hi Robin, Thank you for your review! We truly appreciate you.

I visited this facility

StoryPoint East Lansing had only one elevator, and they had carpeted floors. The rooms were a bit smaller. The building seems tired, but they are also going to start renovating soon. We only met one person, and that was the woman who gave us the tour. She was friendly, answered all of our questions, and spent the time that we needed to look.

Provider Response

They had three meals a day, but I'm still kind of independent. I like to cook, yet some of the kitchens were not such that you could live with them. The staff was helpful and showed us everything available. The room was good. It's three floors and you had to use an elevator all the time. Everything is available for you to use. They had a theater, a pool room, a library, and a lounge area. They had a lot of stuff.

I toured here for my dad. I thought the grounds were beautiful. They had a lot of bird feeders, nice flowers, and places where people could sit on patios. That was very attractive and the set up seemed very nice. The food was good. Overall, we were pleased. The apartments were very nice, and they looked clean. Everything was fresh and clean. The person who assisted me was very helpful.

I visited this facility

We liked that the two-bedroom apartment, it was more spacious, and that they have a backup generator. I am going on home dialysis in the near future, and I have to make sure they have a backup generator because of the machines. The lady who took us on the tour was very pleasant and very personable. The facility was very nice too, then she invited us to eat in a separate room off of the dining room. It was a nice spot. The food was very good. It's just that we live in a different area, and I would like to stay in this area.

It is a beautiful place. I would move there. The amenities were very nice, and the rooms were beautiful. The person who took us on the tour was very kind and knowledgeable. You can tell she loved her job and was very excited to show us the facility. They had a movie room, a number of excursions planned for shopping and shows. The residents were very nice people and very happy to be there. The place was spotless.

I have been here a couple of times and when the time comes, this is the place where I will be staying. It's very pleasant. The food was very good. The staff was very courteous. They have a lot of room choices, and they have different sizes of one-bedroom apartments. They have all kinds of games, a small library, an aquarium, and a lot of different things.

My mother-in-law was a past resident. However, she needed 24-hour care for a month, so we paid a company to do personal care for her. She had a studio apartment. They had a library, exercise room, and an OT room.

The dining room looks really pleasant. It is very desirable for me. The facility is in a modern building, and the cleanliness makes a difference for me. It doesn't smell like a nursing home or a hospital, either.
