"I chose this community for my uncle. It seem to be very clean. He is in an apartment with his own bathroom. He loves the food and the people. All the patients seem to be happy there. He is 100% better than when he went in and seems to be happy where he's at. They have activities for him and for his memory. Everything is fine. "

"Silvergate San Marcos has really wonderful staff, and my visit was great. I like that the place is a little smaller and not too big. It's well-maintained and everyone was super friendly. The 1-bedroom that we were interested in was really great, and it was the biggest one we saw, which is wonderful. The person who showed us around was amazing. It was the best tour we've had. They have the standard activities, someone would come in to exercise, watch movies, there are beauty salon appointments, and they take the residents out shopping and so on. They provide three meals a day, and they have an anytime dining type of thing. So if you want to go with a traditional lunch or dinner they have a menu that you can order off any time of the day."

"My parents are residents of Sunrise of Oceanside. When you walk in the entry of the place it looks like a boutique hotel. They have a receptionist at the front desk. Their dining room, lounge areas, and their TV room have recliner chairs. They have games on every little table. They have a kitchen. They have happy hour. The staff was very caring. They're pretty on it. They seem to have four or five nurses in each section at all times. They have pretty good food. They have a special every day. I had dinner there. They have a salmon salad, and they have grilled cheese. They have lasagna and they've had coconut shrimp, bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches. They have like six sandwiches, a regular burger or a veggie burger. Then they have three dinner options every night. It's brand new, so it's very clean. One day they do the laundry, one day they change the sheets, and one day they clean the room. Every day they come in and make their beds and empty the trash in their room. They have on-staff doctors and nurses. They have hair and nail salons, and all that kind of stuff."

"I tried to keep my husband at home as long as possible, but realized early on it's an impossible task, there was no way I could give him the constant and involved care that he receives at this facility. From day one I have received emails, pictures, phone calls and updates on how he was doing - good and bad. Every step of the way, I'm given an opportunity to voice my opinion so it feels I contribute in part for his care. I can't say enough about all of the staff: the caregivers are unbelievable in what they do. I have been able to watch how they interact with the residents and their compassion shines through, caregivers are truly Angels on earth. When I come into visit, the staff know me by name and greet me with a friendly welcome and when I go home I know that I did the right thing and picked the perfect place for him. Dr.s are available to him as is physical therapy and he doesn't have to leave the facility - they come to him! When I found out the cost of him living there, it was quite a shock, but I now realize what the cost must be of keeping a place like this up and running. The managerial staff, caregivers, housekeepers, nurses, 3 healthy meals a day plus snacks available to them. The list can go on and on. I like many over families have heard the horror stories of memory care facilities, but I know from first hand, this is not one of them. There is no way I could give my husband the attention and care he receives here. I sleep well knowing he is in a better place and is receiving better care that I could ever provide."

"I have chosen The Hacienda Mission San Luis Rey. I haven't moved in, but I have made a commitment to do so. I like it. It was the best one I have seen. It is close to the ocean, which I appreciate. It's in California, so the weather's terrific. The people I met there were very friendly. There are a lot of activities. There are all kinds of water aerobics, Tai Chi, and regular exercise. There is a learning center, as well as other activities like arts and crafts. There are four restaurants, and my apartment will have a full kitchen. I like to cook, so that's important to me. The food was wonderful, too. The other residents are very friendly and very nice, and I like that."
