The rooms are semi-private - curtain between you and roomate, and the hallways are pretty noisy if you don't keep the door shut. Having said that, this place treated my Mom wonderfully. Every person, from her doctor to the nurses, to the person that cleaned her room, was pleasant and kind to her. The food was decent, her physical and occupational therapy was outstanding, and her nurses consistently took great care of her. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

I have my father in there right now he's not happy there and I can't get there to visit him that often, I'm also his POA of his medical conditions. I'm not contacted at all on his progress or anything but when he went to the hospital I'm very unsatisfied with his care. I want to move him but there are waiting lists wherever I try to arrange for his move. I've asked for weekly reports but I never get them I'm getting very angry I don't even want to give them any rating but I have one.

They service that my brother receives is below average. The staff do not attend to his needs in a timely manner. He has had several items stolen or misplaced.

My mother went there for less than 24 hours after being released from the hospital. Although I was the listed caregiver, I was never contacted. When I called, I was never able to speak to staff - just got the answering machine. I was able to speak to someone who came into my mother's room. I never saw the inside due to COVID, but my mother said the facility was in need of some repairs and the "Doctor", who tried unsuccessfully to get her to sign a document agreeing to at least a 2 week stay, was extremely belligerent. When I went to pick her up, a tech wheeled her out and that was it. Never did hear from anyone in charge.

My husband was a rehab patient after orthopedic surgery. In general the staff was very nice. Some of the staff provided excellent care and services. During his 5 week stay there, the room was not kept clean. The floor was dirty with trash, the toilet was filthy because it had not been cleaned for several days. It was not cleaned until we, 2 roommates and their family, brought in an employee to show them. I understand that there is a large patient/ worker ratio and this creates a challenge. I personally, having kept a record, witnessed numerous times when it took more than an hour for a CNA to enter the room to change a patient after soiling their bed. This created skin sores. Not every employee followed protocol when a patient was being treated for infection. Such things are why hospitals and care facilities are breeding grounds for infection. Health care needs to be overhauled to protect the patients, employees, and visitors.

The place is terrible, had mom there for a short stay in the rehab, we moved her out after 5 days, the facility is filthy, the care is terrible, and very chaotic, one night my mom waited 1.5 hrs just for someone to help her to the bathroom, they lost her cell phone twice. and her clothes. and no one responded in a timely matter . we had numerous concerns and addressed them with the management, nothing was done. the last straw was her food tray had ants on it when it was served. this place needs to be shut down.

This environment is not for younger people who require rehab due to injuries or surgeries namely veterans who often possesses multiple injuries, if that you ,this is not the place to come. While some people are nice, the overall climate is not conducive to those who are middle-age for reasons that they tend to only cater to the elderly and minimize the injury of the younger folks, making assumptions that if you have a total knee replacement etc because you’re young you don’t need required assistance. And also tend to given idiosyncrasy excuses for things as if they think you are senile or incoherent.

My mother is in this facility and she has fallen out of bed 2 times , one time requiring hospitalization and stiches . The staff and management say that there is nothing they can do to keep her from falling . The falling has occured at night when staffing level is at its lowest . They have devices to altert the staff when someone has fallen , but nothing to prevent falling . The beds do not have full side rails like they should have . They only have partial side rails which do not prevent the patient from swinging their legs off the bed and trying to get out . The most disappointing thing is that the staff and management say that there is nothing they can do and they refuse to seek a solution . Also , there is little or no communication between staff members of each department and management . My mom was scheduled for a dental appointment several weeks ago , and no one can tell me whether or not she has been seen by a dentist or has been scheduled to see one .. When I press for information , the staff seems very unresponsive and lackadaisical.

Shortage of staff, mostly nurses, and especially in the evening hours. Long wait after button was pushed to call for a nurse. During the day it seems like a very active, patient friendly nursing home, although 6 hours did pass without anyone coming to check on the patient I was visiting. Medical issues of the patient were ignored, and not even addressed thoroughly by the doctor for the nursing home. This caused the patient to become sicker than she was when she went into the nursing home. I would advise anyone to not put a loved one in this nursing home. Please look elsewhere. Biggest issue of the poor medical care in my opinion is lack of staff, and what staff is available, especially in the evening could have cared less. Oh and my one star is generous fo rthis facility.

My wife is at Genesis Healthcare Severna Park Center. The rooms were all double rooms, and there were a handful of single rooms. I think the staff is excellent; the food is great. I know that she has gone to some musical performances.

Frustrated at this point. My dad has been there one week & we try to make sure someone is alway there to keep an eye on him. He is diabetic, blind, previous weakness on one side from an old stroke, & a newly broken shoulder. He has been in bed since his shoulder injury 3 weeks ago. Physical therapy put my dad in the wheelchair for part of his therapy & left. Said they would be right back with leg supports. It took them awhile to return & when they did return had the wrong supports. Once again they left & said they would be right back. 25 minutes later my dad is slowly slipping out of the chair. She went to the nurses station to get someone. 2 nurses helped him out of the chair & tried to get him to walk to the bed with assistance. My sister informed them he cannot walk yet. They tried keeping him up by holding his depends & get him to sit on the bed. Well of course the depends started to tear & he started to fall. Thank god my sister was there to catch him. The nurses tried I'm not blaming them but physical therapy will be hearing from us. Did I mention the physical therapist that put him in the chair was the head physical therapist?

We choose Severna Park Genesis because we had heard it was the better of several options in Anne Arundel County. Having been to one previously, we definitely wanted one that was much better. The facility is nice, the rooms are very small and difficult for two families to visit at the same time. The staff for the most part is good, I can't say enough about the receptionist Kelly, very kind and helpful. The therapists were great and made some strides with my husband. My problem came with aides or nurses who didn't respond when it came time for diapers to be changed or help to the bathroom or meds for pain. You could expect an 1/2 hour to 45 minutes at least for them to respond. It was so bad that my husband got frustrated and would tell me they wouldn't help when he asked for help. One night he got tired of waiting for help and got up on his own when he couldn't walk on his own and the bed alarm hadn't been turned on. Unfortunately, he fell and broke his wrist and had two pelvic fractures and ended up in the hospital....a week later he passed away. Another issue I had was the "casual Friday" dress code....you could never tell who was a nurse/aide and who was a visitor. This is a profession and they should always dress professional...leave the casual attire to business offices. the first night we were there we were greeted by a lady dressed in casual clothes and I wondered who in the world was asking me about my husband. If you have a patient there, check on them frequently. Like I said, it was a little better than one we had been to previously but it has it's problems also, staffing at night is one issue.

I wouldn't leave a stray cat in there, that is how bad it was. It was like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It was terrible. Everything is disgusting. People were yelling from their rooms. There was no nurse on staff. They sent me upstairs to meet someone to give me a tour but no one showed up. It was awful, outdated, just depressing.
