"My mother is in The Sweet Life at Brookdale and it is great. It is a beautiful place. I interact with the staff all the time. They are very caring and knowledgeable. My only complaint is sometimes on the weekends, they say they are short staffed, which I am having a hard time believing. They are supposed to check on my mom every two hours and there are some times when I or my sister are there, that it's been more than two hours. They need to check on their residents more often. However, I will recommend them to others. "

"Trustwell Living of Overland Park was new. It was in an H-shaped setting. So, the common areas were very nice. The room we looked at looked really good. I liked the way the shower was set up, and they had a chair in the shower. That would be a necessity for my brother because he would need to sit to shower and stuff. The staff seemed very good."

"My mother-in-law is in Sunrise of Leawood. It's adequate. For what we had to work with and price, it's good. I've had some communication issues with their nursing staff. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's bad. The CNAs seem to be doing really well, but some of the actual nursing staff could use some help. "

"My mom was treated very well at the Sweet Life at Rosehill. She was very pleased and even looked 10 years younger. The staff was phenomenal, too. "

"We liked that The Madison Senior Living was available and easy to tour. There was nobody there and we were able to pick out an apartment we liked. It was pretty convenient. The apartment was very nice and luxurious, and there was a lot of space for my dad to move around in his wheelchair, which was very convenient. I didn't get to meet a lot of their staff, just the sales staff that we've been working with for the most part. They were extremely nice and helpful, and the sales person went out of his way to make things work for my dad. There were lots of conditions that he had to adjust to; he went above and beyond. It's brand new and got a lot of nice amenities."

"I picked Mission Chateau because it was very clean and very new. I didn't notice any odors or anything like that. It's also very close to my home. My mom moved in last month. They're doing the best they can in the circumstances that we are in right now. They've had a lot of turnover, and I think they're a relatively young facility. I just think that they need some additional training on how to treat people with memory care. I think the food is really good. They keep her very busy. They're in a Covid lockdown because they've had an outbreak. Prior to this outbreak, she was very busy. She doesn't have Covid, so she could leave her room; however, all activities have been canceled because of the Covid outbreak."

"My neighbor and best friend of 50 years now lives here after it got harder for him to get around by himself. I’ve been trying to talk my wife into us moving in ever since because they have EVERYTHING! We joke that he’s on permanent vacation because they have a pool, hot tub, restaurants, a gym, gardens and fun events all of the time. The main entrance reminds us of a luxury resort as well. "

"We moved both my parents to Colonial Oaks 5 days ago and could not be more pleased!!! Cleanliness is very big for me and I was extremely pleased when I toured the facility and it smelled and looked clean. The head of nursing Nikki, has been extremely patient and helpful in getting my parents organized with their medications and their specific care/needs. The Community Relations Director, Megan, is so bubbly, welcoming and kind. The Executive Director, Angela, is absolutely amazing!!! She has been so patient with my family, makes sure to check in on me and my parents needs/questions and definitely goes out of her way to make you feel like your loved ones are "home"!!! All the other staff, from office, to nurses, to maintenance, have all proven we without a doubt made the right decision by choosing Colonial Oaks!!!"

"I had toured Armour Oaks Senior Living before. Because of the virus we were supposed to do a virtual tour, but everything was the same. The staff just sent me several pictures also, and it was just the same when I visited. They were very helpful though. The staff who assisted me was very nice. I didn't get to see any residents. The apartments were small, but doable for someone who's by themselves. It was basically two rooms; it wasn't an apartment. It was just a room that you could put a bed and maybe a TV in there, the living room area, which was the bigger room, then the bathroom off the bedroom."

"I couldn't have found a better place for Mom. Mom has been at The Village for two years now. I looked at several but at The Village they're just very supportive and encouraging for all the residents and the families involved. It just really seals the deal for me because they really take a personal interest in all the residents and actually the residents' family as well. I just came home from the hospital a week ago from a major surgery, and they sent me this beautiful plant. It was totally unexpected. I consider the facility perfectly fine. It's very convenient, just 13 minutes from my door to hers. It's a family owned, older building but they keep it clean and very much livable. You don't smell that typical nursing home smell when you go in. They make it like a family environment for everyone too. They are caring and they take good care of Mom. I have a great rapport with the aides that work there. They listen to my concerns if ever I express them. I try to do Mom's laundry most of the time. If things are missing, I mention it to one of the aides or even to the administrator. They immediately start looking for what's missing whether it's in the big laundry or in somebody else's room. There's another Dorothy there beside my mom so a lot of times things gets mixed up. My current husband and I have gotten to know a lot of the residents that are there. They seem to be very happy as well. In fact, we've adopted some of them. We take them goodies. One young man probably in his 40s just loves to have me come and bring him some Cherrie tomatoes out of our garden. We brought them several months in a row this year for him. There's also an older gentleman in his mid 90s who is in his wheelchair. He was pretty gruff until we started making friends with him and now he loves it when I bring him anything sugar. The activities they offer there are very satisfactory for what is needed. They have activities for those who can and want to participate. They also have an activity's director there. In fact, we've contributed to her stock of goodies by giving her things that she can use in her activities like old magazines that have pictures, old arts and crafts things we don't need and pulled out of the attic. They have taken care of Mom's nails too. The activity's director will file them and put polish on them. She will also visit the people in their dining table before they eat and offer to clean their glasses with wet wipes if they need it. They do other things too. They play bingo, watch movies and things like that. My mom is not really in a place where she gets involved in that anymore. She has severe dementia now so doesn't really get active with the things that other do. But there's always a lot going on for them. I haven't really eaten there per say but have worked with Mom in feeding sometimes. I know from visiting other nursing homes that the food there is above what most institutions have. They seem to have a varied diet from day to day. They will offer anything from chicken fingers with vegetables, potatoes to pasta. Mom likes it when they have the chili. There are a lot of times at lunchtime that she always likes the chopped onions and ketchup on top of her chili. And if I could ask, they always provide that for her in addition to the regular chili that's presented. So they go out of their way to take care of any individual request that is made. And if people can't eat with their food being provided for whatever dietary reasons, I've seen people with their Ensure shakes or soft diet food. The kitchen seems to know who needs what. They do the right food for whatever diet is needed. The value is amazing. I feel like what they charge is so much less than that what the big places charge. I'm very happy with the charges they offer. Because of the charge level, Mom is able to be in a private room not in a double room which I really appreciate for her. I just feel very lucky and grateful that I was able to find this place."

"I liked the cleanliness, space, friendliness of the employees and how they set up their community. The staff was very knowledgeable about their residents and what they offer. They gave me a little bag of cookies from their kitchen. In the independent living facility, they had a stove and refrigerator. In the assisted living facility, they had a mini-fridge. They do have outdoor spaces and a patio area for games and seating."
