I have known and visited a few residents who have lived here, and have referred multiple people to Dubuque Specialty Care. I am in healthcare myself, so like to think that I pay attention to detail. The building is clean, beautifully decorated, and doesn’t smell like other nursing homes. Staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They have been under new management for a while now, and are one of the only 5 star facilities in the area. It’s a wonderful place to consider for short or long term stays. Rooms are private or semi private, food is good, I’ve seen them play bingo and have lots of exercise activities.

So many things that should have been done to help my mom. We got her out 2 weeks before she passed away. Staff was not sure how to handle this pandemic and the residents suffered. Shame on them. What if that had been their mom, grandma or aunt. They shut down in early March but staff did not take it seriously. They were not educated and it effected the people who lived there. Very very sad

Don't make this your first choice. They renovated 1 year ago and that is all they have going for them. Lacking in every area of care. No knowledge of patients care needs and no incentives to even want to know. Diets are no followed. They cut cost in every way they can and it shows. Do not put your love ones there. We are leaving.

Grandma is in Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center right now. She has stage 4 COPD. When I go visit her, she refuses to have one of the nurses help her because that one nurse is really mean to her. And I just feel that she's being maltreated there. She deserve better than that in her life. They don't show compassion at all.
