"Avamere was a beautiful place. I really, really like that place. I was going to put my mom there if she moved here. The rooms are beautiful. I loved the feel of the place. The prices didn't seem too bad, though. I'd say moderate price. I met the guy who runs the place and the girl who was showing me around. The rooms were just so spacious. I love the rooms, the storage, and the homey feeling of the rooms. Very cozy place; I felt good. They have their own indoor pool. Some of the other assisted livings around the area bring their clients to Avamere's pool, so it's open to other people, not just the people that live there. It was really nice because my mom likes to swim. They were doing Wii bowling; they were laughing, having fun and a good time. "

"My Dad moved in just 4 months prior to his passing. I’m so grateful we found this place for him. The staff and residents were so welcoming and kind to him. The food was good. The care was excellent. Dad had previously been in one of the big corporate assistant living places just up the road. The contrast between the two is incredible. Northridge is a special place."

"My mom was in both independent and assisted living. I can't say enough about the care, kindness, and love they gave Mom. Everyone was so helpful! Both her rooms felt like home. I can't say enough about the homelike atmosphere. They truly treated Mom with such dignity and love. She felt like they were all part of her family!"

"The Springs at Veranda Park was a lot nicer than the other place we visited. The staff was wonderful and knowledgeable. The dining area looked great. I didn't observe any activities. They had several different places for people to go and do different things, but we were not that interested in that. It was not what we needed."

"We toured Fountain Plaza, and we chose it because of the facility itself and its pricing. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The staff was very friendly. The food was good. The facility was very clean. It was older, but it was kept up very well. They have a patio, walking areas, exercise rooms, and a parking area."

"I did a tour of Weatherly Inn. The appearance was very nice. The staff was very nice too. We took about an hour's tour and things were explained. We're impressed with the neatness and more of the accommodations, as far as what they present to you, the living areas, and what's available. We saw the dining area, where it was, and the procedure for eating. It looked very clean and nice. They've got a place where you can get your hair done. There were TV rooms, people watch different things. There was an activities room where they showed us different things. I don't know what they were making, but it was something to keep the members active. We're impressed by it. If we had to make a decision today, that's probably where we would go. With living arrangements, it's more affordable. The staff were very impressionable people."

"I toured Twin Creeks Retirement, and it was very clean, well kept up, and had decorations for the different holidays. The people were friendly, and I had a banquet-type of food there."

"I visited Mountain Meadows, and it's very nice. You buy a condo, so it's a little different setup. It's not a continuing care community, but they have an assisted living building close by that is owned by the same person that owns Mountain Meadows. It was very nice. They have studio apartments, one or two bedrooms, and cottages. They have a dining room, and you get 10 meals a month. They don’t provide any transportation, and I think to provide transportation is a big thing. "

"My friend is in Cascades of Grants Pass (Formerly Brookdale Grants Pass Village). I am not real impressed with the place. It's a beautiful facility. It's just not the right place for her. It's clean, it's beautiful, the food is good, but she needs more one-on-one care that she doesn't get there. The place itself is great. She has dementia, but she's not quite that enough to go into their dementia facility. They said they only put people in there that are a flight risk, but she's bad enough to where when she goes down to eat, she always chooses dessert. They keep saying they can't force her to do things. They give you a menu and you could choose, which is great for most people, but she chooses dessert. I've asked them about it a couple of times and nothing has been done about it. When she got there, she was in a wheelchair, so they just assumed that she couldn't walk. She hates it there. They have a lot of activities. It's very expensive. They're charging $1000 for the extra care that she needs, but she's not getting it."

"The meals at Countryside Village were very nice. For the rooms, you can get a full kitchen that has a range and a dishwasher or with limited facilities in the kitchen like maybe a microwave and an apartment sized refrigerator, and you can use your own furnishings. They had a little shop where anybody who does crafts can put those out for sale. It was a very nice place, absolutely lovely. The lobby area has got kind of Victorian furnishings. It was very attractive to look at, and the rooms were nice. The studios were quite small, and I was figuring what we can live without when we move. They had a very nice little patio -- a bit bigger than what I've seen in other places -- with an outside entrance. They put people with animals on the first floor, and I liked that you could step outside with the dog; you can come and go through the private entrance if you wanted to, and I liked that very much. "

"Horizon Village was impressive and would fit our needs. Their coordinator was very good at showing us what may be coming available and how things work. They have activities every month from potlucks, bingo, people getting together to watch the Super Bowl, and different things like that. They have a community room and a dog walking area, too. The units were connected, like duplexes, and they had a one car garage. They had a dishwasher, a microwave, and a washer and dryer. We looked at a two-bathroom. One was a full bathroom, while the other was just a shower. Then they all had a patio and backyard. It seemed to be well maintained."
