"The staff and other residents were incredibly helpful and made any visitors and other residents feel very welcome while there. They ran daily shuttles that allowed to residents to do various errands, such as grocery shopping and luncheons with friends and family. The head nurse that worked there would ensure that the resident who requested help always got it, whether it was keeping track of their medication, or taking their blood pressure, or many others tasks. She did this with great enthusiasm and always had a smile on her face, you could tell she really enjoy the work she did. Every time I visited my Grandmother the people at College Hills Retirement I was made to be comfortable and I could see my grandmother was in great hands. I would recommend this facility to anyone in the area that would be looking for a wonderful place for their loved ones to live. "

"I have been staying at Smithville Western Care Center since October, and it has been really good. They have been remodeling and repainting the rooms and put a new floor, doors, and fire system in. They've also got new cooks. I had a private room when I first came in, but as I got on Medicaid, I had to share a room. They have crafts, TV shows, different programs, bingo and visiting animals. They also have the best nurses ever. Considering that they do the meals and laundry, I don't consider the price bad."

"The staff is super nice which refreshing because most staff at other places are very rude with visitors. I was very satisfied with how clean and organized the facilities were here. The amount of activities that they had set up on a daily basis for the community to do is pretty extensive. It's all optional but the residents can be busy all day with these activities if they wanted. Overall this place is somewhere I wouldn't mind staying when I get older. "

"There isn't anything that I dislike about Apostolic Christian Village. I love it. My mother-in-law is happy there. She gets excellent care. I just really couldn't ask for more. They're doing a little bit of rehabilitation for her walking. They control her medications. They help her get in and out of bed, and with the toilet. They help her with just about everything. They are very caring, happy, and really liked their job. Some of the food is excellent and some of it is not to my mother-in-law's taste, but it's all acceptable. Her room is very clean. She shares a room with another person and it's excellent. You get what you paid for."

"It is great. It's friendly, it's clean, it's cozy, and it's very homey. I have a kitchen. I have one bedroom and one living room. It's all quite nice the way it's put together. They provide three meals a day. The staff members are very friendly and very non-intrusive. They're there if you want them, and if they're not, then you don't see them. The food is great. With regards to activities, they have card games and different programs, and they take you places. They have a bus here that belongs to them, and they take people shopping and to different events."

"I spent three weeks in respite care at Brethren Care Village. It was very nice, and the food was wonderful. The facilities and help were very nice. I had a two-bedroom apartment with just a hospital bed, lift chair, and television set, but it was everything I needed. They had a library, salon, and a lot of activities. The staff was very nice. They had everything you wanted and you got to choose from a menu of more than one thing, so you could find something you really wanted to eat. The food was cooked very well. It's very expensive, but they provide top care."

"We loved Chapel Hill Community, but they had no opening. They said you can be put on a waiting list, but there are quite a few ahead of you. The independent living is wonderful, they've got an apartment that's just like home. You've got your own garage, and it's just very, very nice. My friend was very impressed with it and would have taken it in a heartbeat but there was no vacancy. The place was very nice and the independent living houses are beautiful. The staff that we met was very nice. The gentleman that we worked with was very talkative, very upfront, very polite, very cordial, and very helpful. Only one meal a day is included, so lunch is provided. The place is clean and nice, a little dated but I'm sure it would meet the needs of the people that are there."

"I went to Brewster Parke, Inc. I was impressed with their bedrooms. It was very big and had a queen-size bed, TV, microwave, and refrigerator. The building I was touring was brand-new, which may explain why it was so pristine. The staff was very professional. The rooms had access to outdoor areas that were fenced in, so that looked like a nice feature."

"I was able to tour The Echelon Senior Living Community. I liked it, but my parents did not like it; they did not want to move. The apartments were top notch and were all brand new. The staff was excellent. They have everything. They have a pool with assistance chair, they have a workout room, multiple dining options, and a nice outdoor space."

"My mother is at Walnut Hills nursing home. They're very caring and it's a very friendly nursing home. When people are out of state, they have been calling and giving us updates on my mom so that we know what's been going on. They keep in touch with the families, too. It's a pretty big facility. They have different levels of care that are needed there. Assisted living is in one part, specialty care is in another part, the nursing home is in another part, and then they have condominiums for people who are just in the retirement stage. It's all kind of spread out in different sections, yet all right together on one campus. She's in transitional care right now just to get physical therapy and eventually will be moving to assisted living."

"I went to see the Forest Meadow Villas. It's an independent living and the common areas are very well kept up and maintained. The landscaping and everything were clean. They just recently revamped their clubhouse, and that looks very nice. They have a trash pickup. They have like a little lake that's supposedly stocked with fish and they have a gazebo. They have grass. They don't have things like beauty shops or that sort of stuff. They do provide transportation a couple of days a week, I think, to the local grocery stores. I think they have activities. They gave me a list of the get-togethers weekly. You can go if you want to. If you don't then it's fine too. They organized little trips, a couple of times a month. Most places have a model apartment you can see, but they don't. They just ask if it's okay with the residents and they walk you through a lived-in apartment, which is kind of depressing because most older people have too much stuff like I know I do. You can't get a real feel for how you could do the apartment yourself. If it were empty, you might get a better idea. Also, I didn't like the fact that they don't have walk-in showers. They have tubs with showers, which is kind of bad. The exterior is very well maintained. Unfortunately, I don't like the floor plan of the villas themselves but you don't have much choice."

"Concordia at Sumner seemed to be very expensive, but it was nice. They toured me around the place, and I was very impressed with it. It's very close to where I live and housed in a beautiful facility that looks like a castle. The facilities were nicer than what I need, really. They showed me one-bedroom, and I only met a woman who toured me who very knowledgeable about everything and explained everything to me. "
