"I toured Ashwood Meadows Gracious Retirement Living, and I liked it. It was the one that I was leaning toward because I'm only willing to go up to $3,000 a month, and they were closer to that range. They were also making an effort to make everything possible, but right now, I'm holding off at this point. There are two meals a day. They had some crab bowls that they invited me to, along with their tour. They had a refrigerator, microwave, and stove, and they had the setup for a washer and dryer as well. The food was good. The overall facility was extremely clean. They had a nice sitting room and provided a workout area for the residents."

"I enjoyed Belmont Village Johns Creek. They were friendly and personable. It was a nice place. The staff during the tour was very knowledgeable and friendly. She knew what she was talking about. I would feel comfortable having my mother-in-law go there. The apartments were unfurnished, but they were nice. They have little balconies and screened-in porches, which were good. They have a little kitchenette. It wasn't like a high rise, and I liked that. It was like a village, so that was good. I looked at the dining area and it looked nice, they had a little cafeteria and cafe. They have a courtyard and a large outdoor area where you can hang out. I like that it's smaller than the other place we visited."

"Celebration Village Forsyth comes off as a cleaner, more lively, and more active community than some of the other facilities. It's bright in appearance. It's more cheerful. The rooms are bigger. They're more spacious. They have bigger kitchens. Everybody we ran into was very pleasant and helpful."

"I toured Sunrise at Huntcliff Summit I. The leasing agent was extremely knowledgeable, and she was able to answer my questions. The facility itself was magnificent. It was wonderful. Gorgeous layout. The apartments were fabulous. I liked it. The common areas were very nice, and there were quite a number of them. They had very good facilities and amenities. I also had lunch there and the food was wonderful. They had all the games. They had a library, a fitness center, and a bus that would the residents around locally to doctor's appointments and things like that. There was a hairdresser at the facility. The dining room was really good. They're gourmet. I met the cook there, and he was very pleasant. I met a lot of people there and they were all very, very nice. I had lunch with two of the residents who'd been there for three years, and they talked about how nice the place was. The leasing agent was wonderful, and the manager was very, very nice, too."

"Parc at Duluth was a very nice place. It was extremely clean. It looked like an upscale hotel, very pretty, and very opulent. The staff was very nice, very accommodating, and showed me the entire facility. The care director answered all my questions."

"I like the entire setup of Village Park Peachtree Corners. It is beautiful and the caregivers are very friendly and attentive. My dad's room has a nice layout and it's wheelchair accessible. They offer entertainment, arts and crafts, and group gatherings. They have a nice dining room and Dad likes the food. There's a good variety. Everything is going well."

"I would give Towne Club Windermere a five all the way around. That was my favorite place, but it is set up more like an apartment building. It's a tower and you had to get on an elevator, and Mom wasn't comfortable with that, but the rooms were fantastic. They were like regular-size apartments. They have a beautiful pool, a garden area, a movie room, a hair salon, and tour buses that would take you to the grocery stores and stuff. Any amenity that you could think of they had there. They did social hour; you come down in the main room and have appetizers and things like that. They go from independent living all the way to memory care. The staff during the tour was very, very attentive. She showed us several different sized rooms and she gave us the pricing. She made sure that we had all the meals. She let us taste the meals, which were very, very good. She took us around. She was very patient with Mom and Dad. We actually sat down around the pool with some of the people there, and we were able to talk to the residents there, ones that were in wheelchair and ones that were a little bit more independent. My concern then at that point in time was finding a place for both my Mom and Pop and Pop to be more active. The staff introduced Pop to some of the guys there that still play golf and things like that, so he really felt comfortable there. It was Mom that was not at the time, that's why we didn't do so. We actually were there three times and we signed a contract with them twice. Mom just didn't think she could do that elevator. She didn't feel comfortable with it."

"I have just moved into Dunwoody Pines. So far, the staff is great, the food is great, and I feel very comfortable and secure here. The meals are included and I've been satisfied with the selections. The food is tasty, and I enjoy my meals. I don't eat three times a day, which is normal for me, but whenever I go down, I'm satisfied. They have chair yoga, chair exercise, and other things like they went on an outing yesterday, and they had lunch. They had bus services to doctor's appointments and shuttle service to the bank. I'm not disappointed in anything."

"Holbrook Woodstock has a lot of amenities and it's open to everybody. The staff is extremely friendly. It's an open floor plan and it seems very bright, and airy as opposed to other ones. It has a very pleasant living atmosphere. I had lunch there and it was very good. They have an informal and formal dining area, so you can choose whether you want a formal meal or an informal meal. They have a swimming pool, an exercise room, and an area with different game rooms. Facility conditions, like maintenance and cleanliness, are fantastic."

"I visited Mt Vernon Village. Linda made a fascinating impression there. It was just outstanding. It was over there right between a school and a church. They were tucked off in the back. It's a nice private type of situation there. They are very upscale and very nice. It was built older, maybe 30 years old or maybe more, but it's very elegant. The apartments are very private. If you're in some sort of trouble, they can get into your apartment with no problem. You can enter and exit your apartment, too. Some of them have a patio where you can just walk right out your patio onto the car or onto your own back lawn. They provide all your meals. You don't have to pay for anything. You don't even have to buy groceries if you don't want to, but I buy my own. I have a different sort of dietary plan, but I liked the idea that grocery is no issue. Then they have a cafeteria. Everything is there. They got a chapel and I was able to meet some of the residents and they were pretty nice. They are very friendly people. They also have a weight room, a pool, and a dining room where people come and serve you the food. Then they have other little meeting rooms. For example, if you like to play an instrument or play the piano or something like that, they have a room for that. They have several different types of apartments where if you're the type of person who needs walk-in showers, they got that. The appliances are great. They got new appliances in most of the apartments. There's a full refrigerator, a full stove, and a full dishwasher. It'd be a place that you'd like to live. They invited me to dinner and I saw their menu and it was good. I don't eat a lot of meat and they have a menu there that would work for me as well. The menu looks great. They have an actual chef and kitchen staff and the the oldest member of the kitchen staff has been there for about 25-plus years."

"We will be moving into Hammond Glen Retirement Community. They were good. They're far away from where we live, but they rented a vehicle to come and pick us up and take us there. It's nice and clean and the people seemed to be happy there. I figured it was within our budget, so that's why we took that. We're starting in independent living, and I like the idea that they have assisted living in the same building if it comes to that. I have a bad back and I'm a caregiver for my husband because he's blind. I wanted a place where he would be safe if something happened to me. I met a lot of staff. Shanika is the main person. She's our concierge for the first 90 days when we're there. She's a very pleasant, nice young lady, and answered all our questions. The bookkeeper there who did all the signing, Ebony, was a nice lady. The rooms were a nice size, and the biggest thing I needed was a walk-in shower because it would be hard getting in and out of the bathtub. I'm afraid if ever my husband fell, he'd be in serious trouble. They had the glass doors surrounding it and he'd be safe. The independent living is on the third floor. The assisted living is down the lower second floor. The dining area is a good size. It's nice and clean and you're not sitting on top of the other. Each table has four chairs. We had grilled chicken salad and it was very good. We had soup and they gave us a lemonade, but we didn't drink that. There are a lot of activities there. They have a room where they have a treadmill and weights and different things like that. They had nice grounds, but I really didn't get to too much of the outside. They supposedly have a nice garden, and there is an area where they have koi fish and you can sit and relax out there. It really is nice, but I couldn't do everything because of my back. Every week, they give you a menu and you pick what you want. They offer choices. If you don't want the main meal that the chef is cooking, there's chicken salad and tuna salad. They give you soup and dessert. We get three meals a day that's included in our rent."

"Heartis Suwanee was nice. It's kind of big. It has five buildings. The staff said they have 85 independent units and they're nice. I thought they were a little more expensive than others. They want $4900 for a two-bedroom, which I thought was a little high, but they're real nice and everybody there seems to be happy. It's well maintained, I could tell from my one-day visit. The staff was very nice. Emily was very prompt. The woman at the concierge was just as sweet as she could be. The minute I got there, I said I was looking for Emily and she called her and said, "She'd be right here." I did not eat the food, but the people that live there think the food is good. They got a nice-looking pool table and a room for that. It's kind of like an atrium and it overlooks the lobby."

"My dad has been in Parc at Piedmont - East Cobb for a week now. I like the staff. They're friendly. My dad's room is nice. It's comfortable and clean. The food is healthy, and it works with his diabetes. With regards to activities, they have reading and physical therapy. But my dad doesn't do much physical therapy."

"My mom is now at Holly House. It has been an awesome experience. Five minutes after we got there, she ditched the wheelchair and she started walking again. She got some independence. They help her with the issues that she needs. It could not have been a better process. The gentleman who showed me the different places was amazing. It was home-run basically. It stood out way, way above the rest. The food smells good, and my mom has no complaints. The staff knows her well. She knows what my mom can eat and what she likes and they cook everything there, so it is amazing. The staff has been fantastic. The place is sparkling clean, and it fits my mom's needs. They actually moved her to a bigger room when they had a chance. She now has an access to a bathroom off of her room. They're going above and beyond to try to help her. I highly recommend this place."
